Glasgow - Pubs - Somewhere to go
« on: 04 March 2015, 12:56:23 pm »
Hey all,

I'm staying up in Glasgow tomorrow night (business trip).  Do we have any Glasgow focers?

Are there any good ale pubs where I'm not gonna get a kickin' for being an Englander?

I'm staying in the city centre near Queen Street.

Cheers  all

Pick a pub where you can sit outside...............................that way you can't get asked to "pick ya winda - you're leaving"  :lol

You must have gone to the posh end, frosties - you don't normally get the choice :lol

Seriously - Glasgow is fab, you'll have a blast. And yes there are a few foccers in the area, hopefully one or two will be along shortly. Just be glad aegis has moved away, your liver might never have recovered :rollin

Most of the pubs around George square are decent tbh. Platinum lace and diamond dolls are NOT worth visiting ;) :rollin:

The Horse shoe is a must if you like an old traditional pub with character, its cheap and cheerful with no frills......you could encounter the odd Jaikey to add to the atmosphere.

The Counting House on George Square as mentioned by Ralphie is OK but a typical pub chain. As Mick says there are plenty pubs in and around George Square including poncy wine bars and real ale

The Waterloo seems to be a favourite of Dazza....but could be a pain in the arse.

Try looking at this list but not all Glasgow pubs are on it, http://www.glasgowguide.co.uk/pubs.html

The best way is just wander about as you will find dozens all within walking distance of your accommodation, and you will be ok if you stay within the city centre.

Awwwww Dazza, are you trying to get me to recreate the first time we met by going to one of those pubs??..........  :moon :whip

BBB thanks for the sugestions, I'll have a gander round george square, the chap in the office said spoons is best for real ale so maybe Ralphie was correct after all LOL

Ordinarily I would say it's too soon Nick. But it's not the choppers you need to worry about now, it's the bin lorries. (That really is too soon).

I don't want top be a buzz kill, but I know the band that were playing in the Clutha that night. It's just a personal association for me mate. No harm done.

Well that depends if he goes too close to certain areas. And then it depends how he answers the question of what team he supports :lol
