FZS 600 engine case screw lengths

Anybody have the lengths of the side casing screws, save me removing them and measuring them all

Have a google, I'm sure you can buy sets of funky coloured ones, there must be a list of sizes. Which side are you talking? Or are you after all of them as I know there are at least 2 different lengths, maybe 3.

I want to replace all of them but I've not seen a kit using torx pin lock security bolts. I know cap heads will do the job but I like the idea of using something different. Length my be the issue though as can't find any over 80 mm and I've a horrible feeling one of the sprocket cover bolts will be longer.

I suggest sticking with capheads as you want a good tool engagement as the steel capheads will 'corrode' into the alloy of the engine case, and can be tricky to get out. It's not uncommon for them to shear off.  ..Unless you put copper slip on I guess.

I hear you but will be putting plenty of copper slip on all the bolts, will be fine.

As for screw length I've measured all but the sprocket cover and hoping to have those measured in the morning. Will list them on here just in case the info is useful to someone else.

Probably only a fiver's worth of screws if you know what to order, so someone could save a few quid in the future

Useful info Thanks-I will use stainless fasteners with normal allen key heads. When these are very stubborn to undo have a Halfords 1/2" drive socket with a set of allen key bits which can be used with either the 1/2" drive torque wrench or the 3/8" one using adaptor piece.Like you am a believer in copper grease on threads.

If you grease the threads,  don't bother with standard torque figures, assuming you use a torque wrench.

I've just been quoted £6.40 posted for a set of stainless cap heads if any ones interested.

As for my own bike I've had a quote for all the above plus carb top, carb rubber(to cylinder block) rear disc, footrest hanger and a few other screws for £18 and some change ( Button head pinlock's almost twice the price of cap heads)

Kits are a rip off

Check out the price of fuel cap kits, massive mark up considering there's about a pound worth of screws in the packet (some are probably worth the difference if they are tapered or machined)
