not trying to teach you to suck eggs but when checking other tyre I'd take the wheel off as it might not be so easy to see the inside of that wheel!

we had this happen to us on our caravan when I was a kid. the bulge looked like the tyre was pregnant! when we had it changed the tyre fitter put a scredriver into the bulge to demonstrate the effect a blowout would have had!! like I say was probably 37 years ago now but that noise & image has stuck with me!!

Nice to hear that some of the makes/models I would look at for my next lid are far from perfect.

The problem with buying a lid is it can cost a fortune but there is no way of seeing how it performs before buying.

totally agree,I had only had 2 lids previously, a Nolan when I was 17 & an Arai when I was 30, therefore I spoke to quite a few mates with bikes that had different lids for their opinion and in the end settled for the best fit (Shoei) but because a) I wanted to have it custom painted & b) I'd had a small windfall, probably bought a lid that is way above what I need.

WIFE : Washing IRONING F****ng Etc

dont you just love the old stereotypes!

neither my ex-wife or my new lady had either an Iron or ironing board when I moved in! soon sorted that out!

Nothing better than stood doing the ironing whilst watching TV! lets admit it its not rocket science can stand there with my mind not having to do much and it gets me in the good books for when I say, "babe, its a nice day you dont mind if I give the bike a blast do you, be back in a few hours!"

They are not bad not pushy when you arrive, the girls give you a stock list and all the cars outside and normally unlocked. If its locked then it means one of two things either someone is doing a deal on the car at that moment or they just forgot to unlock it!!

they dont give top prices on trade in and do try and push finance ( but dont they all !)

didn't actually buy from them in the end but that's only because I changed my mind on what I was buying.

I used to live close to them so had looked at them a couple of times.

the cars are as described, however I personally wouldn't buy a car without a test drive or someone i totally trust test driving it for me!

When I last needed a new lid I went to 3 shops to try on ones from all the available options and the only one that fitted properly and I felt comfortable with was a Shoei XR1000. What was weird was until that point Shoeis had never fitted me but the makes that used to (Arai & Shark) no longer did, the guy in the shop told me that manufacturers will often change the shape of the shells which will then change the head shapes that fit them properly so you can't gurantee that one manufacturers offerings will always fit you, so when buying a new lid you do need to try them all again to find the best fit. I honestly had no choice as nothing else came close to fitting me like the Shoei so from my experience you're better off seeing what actually fits properly and if you have a choice you can narrow it down then.

arrr now that explains it!! I had a Arai Quantam e that I thought fit me perfectly but knew it was old & needed replacing, so tried on loads of lids and found that the Shoei fitted perfectly! bought the X Spirit 2.
couldn't believe the difference in weight! shoei so light ok bit noiseyer than old lid but that wearing plugs does the trick!!

got armed forces discount that knocked 10% off the price but then had a custom paint job put on it for £150!!! l

This reminds me of when the speedo on my 1st bike (Yamaha RXS100) died! I didnt bother to fix it even though I knew it would only take 30 mins to do it!

I got pulled up by Mr Policeman (long story so i'll cut it short) when he asked me if I knew what speed I was doing in a 40 limit i was honest n said no as my speedo was knackered! he rode my bike up n down the road as well as going over it with a fine toothcomb! but let me off with a producer n told me to get it fixed n re MOT'd within 14 days! which was cool as MOT was up at the end of the month anyway lol

Question if you replace speedo do you have to declare it when selling vehicle as wouldn't it reset the milometer to zero?

not advertising for them but if you are ever down that area its a must even if your in a cage just for the food alone!!!

I really feel for you, when my house sold in Nottingham the equity went into the "pot" for the divorce. my ex wife & I got a small sum in advance of the division.
As the same solicitors were dealing with house sale & divorce for her she had her money after just a few days....

however because my solicitors are down in Portsmouth they had to recieve the cheque in the post it had to clear the bank before they could send it onto me by BACS so 5 working days for cheque to clear 3 days for BACS all this happened over easter Royal wedding & may bank holiday!!! it was a month between her getting her money & me getting mine!!!

and my solicitors charged me for handling the money!!!

Grrrrr :'(

sorry cant add any advise, my lady was prescribed with a "mild" sedative by her Quack for depression they seem to knock her out but then she spends the next day feeling crap so I wouldn't advise them.

When I had problems sleeping due to silly shift patterns I was working my GP prescribed me some pills. was bit worried when I handed the chemist the script and when she handed me the tablets said " becareful when u use thes they may make you drowsy!!! " IDEAL!! actually they were anti-histamins! (sp) and they didnt work!!

Have to stick with my old Akito gloves but they are getting a little tatty around the edges now and the black leather is brown

looked at my gloves today, knew they were Akito's but couldn't remember if they had a name!! it says Magnum on them!! but then I bought them from ex wifes catalogue about 15 years ago, will see how they go & how much more riding I will do this year before I decide to retire them!!

I normally get between 190 - 200 miles to a tank full comutting from Portsmouth to Basingstoke which is a mix of dual carriageways and twisty B roads. on my 1 long ride between Portsmouth to Redruth Cornwall 1 only got 180 miles but then I must admit when I got on the A30 I did open her up and was doing upto 100, If I had stuck to cruising at 80 as i had on A303 I would have gone further before refilling. have to also agree that I had to stop due to numb bum twice so the fill up at Indian Queens was welcome!!

here's another idea for a frustrated customer (and will likely get some mixed reactions on here) - this seems like a perfect chance to get rid of the bottle of coppers you have in the house - take £20 from it with you next time, especially when they're busy and after having removed your lid etc in the queue, hand over the change.

nice idea however according to the royal mint you cant do that, mate of mine tried to pay a parking fine in pennies n 1/2p's and the court wouldn't accept it!!!
