Nothing very exciting. Had to use the Fazer to get to Wickes for a few items to finish off project “change all the doors in the house”, as my car isn’t ULEZ compliant. Started on the button after a few months slumber, but won’t make this a habit as cold water washing it, in case of any salt on the road, wasn’t that pleasant in the current temperatures.
How id you get the doors on the bike.

Its a pet hate of mine -- DLR iights stupid stupid idea. Before them a biker riding with lights on in the daylight you could spot them a mile off and you knew it was a bike ( or a volvo ) but now my pissy headlight is lost amid a sea of car DLR lights making it hard for someone pulling out or turning right to see me actually riding a long way in front of that sea of ever - wildly fancy shapes of bright daylight running lights. Not to mention the even more pointless whole car width of white strip light across the front and fancy dancing indicators. This is why I muted a colour headlight light for bikes so they can be easily differentiated from cars but people did not seem to like my idea of pink lights, problem is all other colours are not allowed.

Don't forget, we inherited these regulations on led lights, which were approved for use in the EU, prior to brexit - it's actually the EU's fault really  :lol .
And stupid DLR lights.

Is it just me that thinks they are far too bright
Yes I am constantly getting dazzled by them, Ive been meaning to check where there is a DfT rule how how bright there are allowed to be.
Where are the EU and their stupid laws when you need them.

Yes far too bright, I think I posted something similar some time ago. Its worse when you're stationery at traffic lights and the driver in front has his/her/their/whatever foot on the brake pedal the whole time. When they pull away, I can see fuck all, blinded by the light. I drive in the dark using a pair of those specially tinted glasses now, they make a good enough difference to take most of the glare out.

Is it just me that thinks they are far too bright - the new cars that have led rear lights, they are so bright they look like constant brake lights and then when they brake it looks like fog lights - totally unnecessary IMO. And some seem to be a massive expanse of red - really big fat lights. And then at the same time seem to have tiny tiny indicators :rolleyes

Here you are read here and you will see exactly where i mean so that the picture you have will not show it. https://foc-u.co.uk/index.php/topic,22250.msg257939.html#msg257939But for me it has been fixable. The last thing i used was JB Weld High Heat and that has been the best thing for staying on.

Adding to his question abot the exhaust pipes.
The dealer sent me pictures of it, looks a bit rusty, but does it need immediate replacement?

The first picture looked fine.

They will probably have some pinholes in that will get bigger. I am still on the OEM steel pipes on my 25 year old Fazer but (read my sig )
I have got away so far with filling the small holes that I have with high temp 2 part putty stuff. Its further underneath on that picture where it pits the worse.

Then its probably something to do with extra stresses that track riding puts on it and it may be flexing, does look like its the tyre that has done it. I have a hugger and as the name says it is very close to the tyre but the plastic is quite stiff.

The prescription just gives the near and distance values. It's the way Glasses Direct constructed the lenses that gives the benefits you mention. They are graduated varifocals.. I can see instruments and mirrors sharp, as well as distance. Glasses Direct give you multiple options for type of lens
Sounds perfect distance straight ahead, instruments - near eyes down and mirrors sort of in the middle.
But wait a minute when you look at a mirror you are in effect looking at distance so the middle should not matter  :think

I have tried using a closed and rapidly opening fist towards the top of my crash helmet, ( to represent flashing), and have been warned accordingly using the same method, but many would not understand the message being conveyed.
A -la Jim Davidson nik, nik, nik, nik   :rollin

I use the same method in the UK.

In France, its left hand out to the left and wave it up and down around knee height.
Yes - isn't that a slow down signal - in that case I am not warning them of the police up ahead but I am just telling them to slow down.
Something I do a lot actually if I have past a tractor or something coming the other way on some bends and I see a bike not far behind who would not know abut the almost stationary tractor around the corner.

That proves speed cameras are not there for safety and you would/should win in court. By warning people, they slow down and achieve the alleged aim of the camera to slow people down.
Well said  :agree

I see on a lot of US bike related stuff that they use a signal tapping on the top of their helmet to let other riders know there are police up ahead,  think in some states it might even be against the law.I have never seen it in this country though as there is not a recognised signal apart from maybe flashing of headlights which can mean anything from cows in the road or you have left your filler cap open on your car :lol it is useless to try and flash on a box eye anyway :rollin

G'Day Mate  :lol Sorry cant help with track bikes but there are some on here who can help. Also  "Fazer which has been stripped of its fairings and headlight" In the UK we generally call that a bike that has been crashed  :D

That’s a shame but totally understandable. I think facebook is responsible for the demise for many forums, which I suppose is just a reflection of modern times. Even this forum is far less active than when I joined only 7 years ago, but possibly folk have just moved on to a newer model of bike.
There is that and there is also a change in the style of moderation that happened a couple of years ago that may of also contributed to the demise of the number of posters.

Is this just the renowned 1st to 2nd clunk, not sure what you mean by feathering the clutch. Maybe try clutch-less changing, I hardly ever use the clutch when going up the gears once im in 2nd. Not sure what that will prove but if that is clunky then maybe its not a clutch problem. But clutchless changing may take a little practice to get right before you can do it smooth so  :crazy .

Quoting from the MOT Inspection Manual:

Headlamps’ colour must be one of the following:

    white
    yellow
mainly white light with a blue tinge

If a motorcycle is fitted with front position lamps, they can emit one of the following:

    white light
    amber light
mainly white light with a blue tinge

Rear position lamps must be red.

So these would be illegal, also imagine everyone having their own favourite colours on the front of their bike, it would look a road full of Xmas trees!

Of course I am not talking about a free for all  :rolleyes - I am talking about a law change requiring new bikes to be fitted with the pink colour DRL then all older bikes can add the CORRECT colour LEDs if they like.

If I want a bike with pink lights on I'll go to Hamleys.
But they ain't going anywhere near my Fazer.  :look
It was more mauve than pink  :lol

I saw an audi with what looked like an extra pink led strip above its white daytime running lights pretty sure its illegal but apart from that I think all bikes should be fitted with them.
I always thought that the EU law to have all cars fitted with daytime running lights made riding a bike more dangerous - why?. Because before that if you had your lights on when riding then drivers could see a bike approaching from miles away - it was either a bike or a volvo. But now our headlights are completely lost amongst the sea of ever fancy shapes of daytime running lights making it very hard for drivers to pick out a single light travelling in front of the Christmas tree light background. But that Audi with its pink strip was really easy to spot. --Thoughts  :lurk

FZS600 Fazer / Re: HORRIBLE NOISE UNDER ACCELERATION
« on: 19 August 2023, 09:38:18 pm »
So you have checked the sprocket nut with a tourque wrench is that it is right ?But you can not do this without removing the locking tab washer - so is it possible that the shaft is spinning inside the sprocket when under load - nasty noise.
When the sprocket was done with the upgraded nut what tourque was it done to and was there the correct lock tight applied or even the right one.
Other than that you said that the clutch was replaced - others more expert on that subject will help but I think you can have problems with wrong springs or fitting it wrong or somthing.
