Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Oil leak
« on: 24 March 2021, 07:56:52 pm »
Hi guys, some advice please. I have a 03 Gen 1 thou with 18000 on the clock, bought last August. I did an oil and filter change today but when I struck it up it appears to be leaking oil from the oil cooler. I've never seen this before and can't understand why it's happened as I never touched the cooler when removing the oil filter or fitting the new one. there were no leaks prior to me doing this job so I'd appreciate any clues to fixing it now we are approaching the end of restrictions.

Cheers guys

So in 2016 I made probably the worst mistake of my biking career which was to trade in my beloved 03 Fazer thou for a brand new MT09 Tracer having believed the advertising hype that these were the new Fazer. Well nothing in my opinion could have been further from the truth, I put it down to individual taste because I am aware that these bikes have a strong following but in short I hated it. I rode it for 3000 miles over a 3 month period because I wanted to give it a chance but I couldn't get on with it. Instead of cutting my losses and going straight back to a Fazer though I embarked on a merry go round of different bikes in search of the perfect replacement. In short I've decided there is no perfect replacement so last week I sold my Z1000sx and am now looking for a good Gen 1 FZS1000, I've seen quite a few advertised for top money, is this due to their popularity or a consequence of the lockdown. If anyone knows of a good reasonably priced bike I'd be grateful for a heads up, thanks lads

For Sale & Wanted / Last few bits
« on: 25 October 2016, 07:38:13 pm »
Hi guys,

So after my earlier error in judgment of trading my beloved Fazer for a Tracer and subsequent attempt to redeem the situation by selling said Tracer and or part exchanging for equally beautiful Fazer failed I was presented with the option of a part exchange, (in sellers favour),for a 2015 Kawasaki Z1000SX.
Took a bit of a risk with no test ride but I must say I'm really happy with it so far, it's an awsome piece of kit.
Anyway this has left me with a few Fazer thou accessories to get rid of.
Powerbronze belly pan with brackets and fitting instructions..SOLD
Rear Hugger..SOLD
Front fender extender..SOLD

I've also got an unused Oxford one piece lined wet suit size Large for 20 quid plus the postage
Just found a standard screen too so a tenner for that if anyone needs one.

Cheers for looking

For Sale & Wanted / MT09 Tracer
« on: 12 October 2016, 08:30:35 pm »
Hi all,

So after my original post about selling the Tracer and the few comments I received along with some research into what these bikes are worth on the second hand market I have had a rethink.
I have seen a pretty wide variation in what people are asking for them but none that are up for less than £7500 so I thought my asking price was very competative, but that would only be true if someone was willing to pay that price. So I thought what would be the lowest i'd go to get a sale so I could move on, and although it would grieve me to think I would virtually be giving it away I would be willing to let it go for £7000 but that would be the rock bottom I'd go,offers lower than that I would say were taking the mickey.
The insurance is due on the 24th of this month so I think if it hasn't sold by then I'll renew the insurance and keep it, so if there's anyone out there who's interested in a cheap nearly new bike please hurry up and let me know.

Cheers

For Sale & Wanted / MT09 Tracer

Hi Guys,

So it was back in July that I posted that I'd traded in my beloved Fazer thou Gen 1 for a brand new MT09 Tracer.A lot of people said why didn't I go for the MT10 but there was something about it that I didn't like and as I've always liked triples I thought the Tracer would be worth looking at especially as I'd read a lot of reports that they were really good and were sort of similar to the Fazer in a lot of ways.
I had a test ride and had a lot of fun on the bike and thought that what I'd read was pretty accurate so I took the plunge and bought one.
I ran the bike in as per the manual and had the first service done on time and then set about getting to know the bike properly with no restrictions [apart from the legal speed limits officer], I put a Givi carrier and a fender extender on it for practicality.I had a summer of trips out and about, short and longer and I've now done 2600 miles on her, but as hard as I try to love her I just can't, we're just not gelling,it's a bit like when you see a girl you really like and you go on a first date and have a lot of fun and start going steady only to realise after a few months you don't have that much in common.
So I've decided to admit my mistake and put her up for sale,Manufacturers warranty until July 2018,Datatagged and RAC breakdown cover included, although why you'd need that on a new bike I don't know. I'd like to get around £7400 for it which for a virtually brand new bike is a saving of a grand but I'm willing to haggle a little bit to sell so I can get myself a late well sorted Fazer again.
If I get any interest I can put some photos on although all you have to do is look at pictures of a new one in red and thats what I've got.
I'm on the east coast of Lincolnshire but I'm willing to travel to meet anyone who wants to view it.

Cheers for looking, John

Is it me or don't Arai and Shoei make helmets any more? Every time I reply to a private message which has that security question "what gear does Arai and Shoei make", I put in helmets or crash helmets and it rejects it as incorrect. What is the right answer please.
