General / Irish Road Racing 2022.
« on: 27 April 2022, 09:17:30 am »
I notice the 2022 Irish Road Racing season started last weekend with the Cookstown 100 and continues this weekend with the Tandragee 100, does anyone know if there is any TV coverage of the series this year?

They are about the same height as the originals but a little straighter i.e. not as swept back. The original bar end weights do not fit the Renthals and you will have to drill a hole for the switch gear locating pin. They are good though once you get used to them. :D

To cut a long story short; once upon a time, they lived happily ever after!

On the whole, Preparation H is a good product!

I had a very similar problem with the front brake and after removing and copper greasing the pivot pin, as advised by others, it resolved the problem completely.

A rub with copper grease stops them corroding and makes them much easier to remove next time.

« on: 05 August 2019, 04:43:54 pm »

Thanks unfazed for the tips.

Undid the right hand side coolant bottle bolt but not the left or the rear shock.
Routing the cable upwards was a hell of a job and i ended up taking a slightly different route as the gap between the frame and the airbox was too narrow for the connector.
Fitting the sensor was ok but I forgot what a nightmare the front sprocket cover is to refit, with the cables outside it.
Also changed the rear brake pads as it's in for an MOT on Friday.

However the bad news is the speedo is still not showing any speed so the sensor obviously wasn't the problem.
So I guess the problem is the speedo itself.
Anyway thanks for the help.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Replace Speedo Sensor on Fazer 1000 Gen1
« on: 02 August 2019, 11:17:20 am »
I am going to attempt to replace a suspect faulty Speedo Sensor this weekend and believe this to be a bit of a nightmare job.
Any advice on how to get to it, or best tools to use would be gratefully received.
Thanks.

That's good to know as my speedo has stopped working just last week. Rev counter ok and mileometer showing ok, just not incrementing.
Need to investigate whether it is speedometer, speed sensor or bad connection in between.
I suspect it is the speed sensor as everything else seems to work ok.
I understand if you rotate the rear wheel the speed sensor should change between 0V and 5V and the rate of change gives the speed.

What I don't know is if the bike has to be in gear for this to happen???

BTW. My MOT is due mid August that is why I was asking about the speedometer affecting this.

Cheers

Did you manage to get your MOT with the Speedometer and Rev Counter not working?

I'd put some tyre sealant in there as a backup!

I believe you cut away the rubber seal and howk it out with a screwdriver.
Then tap the new one into place with a correctly sized socket.

There are vids on YouTube that show how it's done!

General / MT-09 or MT-10?
« on: 28 September 2017, 04:06:00 pm »
I wondered if anyone has tried both the MT-09 and the MT-10 and could give a review or comparison of the two .I know the MT-09 is a triple and the MT-10 a four, but I was wondered about the performance and handling differences as the MT-09 is substantially cheaper.

The Fazer is leaking fuel from the carbs and I did not want to ride it along to my mechanic friend's house and risk fuel on a hot exhaust!

Therefore I did wear my helmet while pushing it about a mile (front flipped up), but got my 24 year old son to push it with me.
The bike is insured and fully legal.
Never saw any police, :bobby  but did not want to take any risk of falling foul of the law, your honour!  :stop

Turns out I have sticking float needles on carbs 3 and 4 causing the leak!  :'(

Quick question.

Do you need to wear or at least have a helmet with you when pushing your bike on the road?

Hi Mike

Thanks again for doing the Ivan's upgrade on my Fazer on Sunday 9th.

After the initial spluttering (I suspect just caused by the fuel getting through!) it performed beautifully all the way home.
I have had a similar problem in the past when the bike has not been run for a long time.

Sorry that I could not hang around on Sunday and chat with you guys, but my Wife's mother was very ill and passed away the next morning.

Also I have not had a chance to test the bike thoroughly as I dislocated my hip on the Monday afternoon.
(It had been replaced in 2013 due to a skiing accident!)

I have been on the bus this week, but hope to be back on the bike next week so will get a chance to test it thoroughly then.

I do love the Fazer and thanks again Mike, for making it even more loveable!
