A reasonable condition decal from the swinging arm that I can get copied. These used to be available new from Fowlers Yamaha.  Part No 5LV-21668-00.   But alas now N.L.A as many Gen 1 Fazer parts are rapidly becoming,  :\  (The Gen 2 decal is available)  If someone has a knackered swinging arm, the decal can be removed with little damage, see you tube.

« on: 21 November 2020, 07:18:13 pm »
Just wondered who makes the original Yamaha brake pads?  Had a look at mine today while changing the brake fluid, they are o.k but just checked the price from Yamaha 😡 bloody hell!  Don’t want anything fancy that rips the disc to shreds, any recommendations?

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Belly pans?
« on: 13 April 2020, 10:36:40 pm »
Firstly, is a belly pan worth fitting to keep crap off the bottom of the bike/exhausts, or are they purely cosmetic? Can you access the EXUP valve without removing them, or only on some makes?  Can the fitting of them be damaging to the bike frame paint?  What ones have you found to be the best, and can I buy them in original bike matching colours?  Amen!   You Guru's on here will know.  ;)

For Sale & Wanted / Wanted. One downpipe FZS 1000 Gen 1.
« on: 13 April 2020, 08:53:49 pm »

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / FZS 1000 Headers?
« on: 06 April 2020, 11:31:05 pm »
Just curious about the header downpipes, I know the exhaust flanges and collars are mild steel but what kind of material are the downpipes?  They are often quoted as "stainless steel", but as I am involved in engineering where we use a lot of stainless material, this stuff seems to be as poor as it can possibly get,  Piss poor in fact!  P.S. Anyone know what the pipe wall thickness of these are?

General / RS Paints.
« on: 03 February 2020, 05:04:35 pm »
Got some RS paints, frame touch up bottles.  Metalic black and a bottle of lacquer.  Tried to use the brush on the bottle top! What a load of utter shit!  Found and used an ideal small soft brush.  Question is, what the hell do you was the brush in! I tried everything I could think of but had to bin it!  Expensive but damn good paint though.  :thumbup

« on: 14 November 2019, 04:52:24 pm »

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Fork Oil, 05 Reg, FZS !000
« on: 30 August 2019, 04:32:21 pm »
As my bike will be kept permanently! Question is, should I change my fork oil?  The bike is soon to be 15 years old but only done just over 10,000 miles, as far as I know it has never been done ( I am obviously not the first owner).  If I should change it what viscosity of oil do you think is best , or do I stick to what Yamaha recommends?

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / FZS 1000 Seat cover differences?
« on: 05 August 2019, 12:24:23 am »
Believe the 01 to 04 models had the same seat cover, but the 05 was slightly different.  Anyone able to confirm this?  What are the differences?

Can anyone give me the part number from the very bottom R.H.S. of the sticker.  From an original U.K. bike please.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Clutch cable! Routing. FZS
« on: 07 June 2019, 06:47:23 pm »
Made a fundamental error!  Went to change my clutch cable without pulling a fine piece of string behind it to check the routing.  OK with all the clips etc, but under the left side of the tank there seems to be no sympathetic way to route it, there is a rubber cup thing that looks like its meant to go on there? But but after that I am clueless!   Can anyone attempt to explain to me exactly what the original routing is.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Yamaha sticker on the screen?
« on: 20 May 2019, 04:58:43 pm »
Noticed some bikes have a Yamaha sticker on the lower of what looks like the original Yamaha screen, is this simply a common personal addition or is it year specific?  Cannot see one shown on any parts list for any year of FZS 01-05.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Leaving indicators on?
« on: 14 May 2019, 07:35:02 pm »
Maybe it is just me but does anyone else find they leave their indicators on?  Why was the good old self cancelling 70s and 80s idea done away with?  Is there an easy to fit audible indication unit like on a car?  I am conscious of not cancelling them and feel I spend too much time looking down checking the idiot lights!  :o  Or are there bulbs in the idiot lights that can be changed to brighter ones, might help.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / FZS 1000 EXUP Headers? 5LV / 1C2
« on: 07 April 2019, 01:46:43 pm »
Always thought (and still think they are) that all original headers, 2001 to 2005 models are exactly the same and all years are obviously interchangeable, but at present there is a set on e bay, brand new being sold by Fowlers Yamaha with the part number pre-fix 1C2 (usually 5LV).  I emailed them as they said that it would only fit a 2005 model,  they assured me that Yamaha state it is only for a 2005 model! I believe this could possibly simply be a superseded part number, which sometimes happens as parts change in a very insignificant way.  Any thoughts?

Not that I am thinking of buying them!  :eek

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / FZS/FZ1 (Gen 1) Oil change frequency
« on: 02 March 2019, 06:23:46 pm »
Just thought i would ask if anyone knows why the difference in oil change mileages, according to the Haynes manual, between the European models (6,000 miles) and the U.S. models (4,000 miles).  On a Gen 1, 2001-2005, i believe its only a designation difference, the bikes are the same?

Where do we start on this one!!!!!!!!!!!!!   I would love someone to give me a reason why some openly unrepentant stupid little worthless excuse of a  human being, who joined an anti Christian terrorist organisation would EVER in ANY circumstances be allowed back into this country of ours?  An utter disgrace to any British parents who lost a son/daughter or children who lost a mother/father fighting this barbaric scum!
