It is illegal to go through a red traffic light no matter what.
However it is usually allowed to slide if you are making way for emergency vehicles if they are using their lights and or sirens (not sure about the doctors with their green lights but would assume the same)
More of an issue with traffic light cameras but I use a crash cam so hope that would show why I went through or partially trough a red ATL. Also if the camera takes your photo then it should also take the emergency vehicles picture so they would also have proof of the vehicle and that it was on "blues and two's" while crossing a red light.

IMHO that is

General / Re: REMOVE YOUR HELMET!!!
« on: 06 March 2016, 08:23:29 pm »
Well this argument comes around every so often, yes there is an issue with identification while wearing a helmet as there is when wearing a baseball cap burka etc, now I use a flip front helmet which is lifted when fueling up and this gives a decent view of my face for security reasons but I have been asked to remove it before being allowed to fuel up.

So you have to take off your helmet but where do you put it ? hang on the bars with a chance it will drop off ? on the floor with all the spilt fuel? on the pump 1 if there is room 2 if it is flat making it safe to put your lid there, now if it is raining it makes things worse.

I have been asked to remove my helmet before being allowed to fuel up this was over the tannoy, so it is pointed out to everyone on the forecourt that there must be something wrong with the guy on the bike as they are telling him to take off his helmet, nasty violent criminal bloody biker!! So I went in to the shop asking why got the usual rubbish so I asked can they see my face "yes of course I can" well why do I need to take my helmet off? company policy! OK so why are there no notices at the pumps on the shop door or at the tills ? Umm don't know. Well I am going to fill up now as you have seen my face and have me on the CCTV in the shop and the forecourt so are you going to activate the pump? NO

So as there was a queue forming behind me I kept going (only one till in use) asking why they would not activate the pump as they have seen my face company policy again OK so why is there no safe clean area for me to put my helmet down ? don't know? OK so if I take my helmet off at the pump and it becomes damaged either from falling or being contaminated by fuel from the floor or pedestal would they cover the damage to the helmet Umm no OK so if I take it off and leave it here will you take responsibility for the helmet? Umm no.

Now some say that anyone who refuses to remove their helmet is being unreasonable but surely the stations are as bad by not giving us somewhere safe to put our lids lets face it they can be very expensive and even if lightly damaged it is recommended they are replaced! and then comes the issue of other items that obscure the face such as baseball caps burkas etc you pull a cap down and keep your head tilted down you can see someone's face can you but they don't need to be removed and these are not part of a "religious" requirement.
Banks I have walked into a bank with my lid up but on (busy and just forgot about taking it off) now as I did not have to fuel up or anything so my hands are free to hold the helmet and the banks are usually free from spilt fuel so have plenty of safe places to put the lid down if needed I usually take it off, I took my payment book and cash to the counter and paid in the cashier said thanks handed me the book back and said can you take the helmet off completely next time please, I said Oops sorry and had a no problems back.

Why not extend the slabs then add something like a coping stone (you know the ones placed on tops of walls) to act as a ramp

don't worry about battery drain as you take the unit off when you leave the bike so no power drain
You cannot generalize that. I have measured the cradle of my Zumo 660  and of my Zumo 500 without nav.
With the 500 cradle the reading was 0 but with the 660 cradle 72,5 mA. Somtimes older stuff is better  ;)

Well I stand corrected but I was using a 390lm on a hard wired cradle for just over two years and never had a problem !

Go straight to the battery that way the satnav always has power via the cradle, don't worry about battery drain as you take the unit off when you leave the bike so no power drain. Ran my Garmin like this never had a problem

I got one of these from costco about 5 years ago when it was on offer for £40. its a good bit of kit, but not cheap:

http://www.costco.co.uk/view/product/uk_catalog/cos_8,cos_8.5,cos_8.6.1/139578

Costco is like most other shops some things are cheap some things are not (try to pick things up when they are "changing seasons" some real good deals then)
The thing to bear in mind is that they mainly carry 2-3 of the top brands and their own Kirkland which is why you can get similar a lot cheaper other places. Not everything is cheap but it is a good quality. I have to say that the Kirkland stuff is good as well. I have never had a problem with anything I have bought from there and know if I did there would be a good response for problems from the customer services to get it sorted out. BTW Costco do an on line ordering option now and you don't have to be a member (there is a surcharge for non members)
I have bought redex from there 4 bottles work out cheaper than 2 from other places and they are much bigger bottles.

If you have an "executive" membership you even get money back on everything you buy at membership renewal not sure but think it's 2-3% depending on how much you buy that can pay for your membership and even give you money back in your pocket.

I know that the items such as meat, bakery and deli (Kirkland branded) are good quality as they don't use cheap stuff to make it with.

Have to say at this point I work for Costco :-) but that does not cloud my comments.

Hail the mighty costco.....i love costco Mick....people are like what you see in costco...its not cheap...i dont care...it is ace & has everything i "need"......plus you can usually be sure that something from costco is top quality.

Shame my nearest is 2 hours trip to cardiff

On the other hand, a piss pot does not need removing for someone to give you mouth to mouth resuscitation or for the ambulance guys to use an O2 mask on you meaning potentially less neck injuries.

Personally, I wear a flip front most of the time so have the best of both. Full face protection but easy access should it be needed.

BTW, I know that the current method of CPR does not include mouth to mouth (just chest compressions) but not everyone does!
One good point that's why I use a flip front as well

Had an accident way back in 1986/7 riding a SR125 car pulled out infront of me on a roundabout I was doing about 25mph and had about 1/2 a bikes length before I hit the car. the order was wing bonnet windscreen roof tarmac. I had a pear lid but as it was a bit windy I had worn my full face, as I hit the windscreen with my head I was glad I had worn the full face there was a gouge from the chin piece up and through the visor over to the crown of the lid. I will never wear a peak again, would I tell others not to wear such a lid too right I will. Would I want them made illegal well no.
I walked away from the accident much to the surprise of the ambulance crew no small thanks to the lid.

The guy looking after me in the ambulance said they had the call "young rider small bike collision with a car has gone over the roof" he said they thought it was going to be either a big rush to A&E or a slow drive to the morgue but what he had not expected was me walking and talking very sore but not even needing to visit the hospital. Good lid good gloves good boots decent jacket but just jeans (young chef could not afford better)

You may thing they look good or give you a better wind in the face experience but IMHO bin them and wear a full face.

Before snapping on the disk lock make sure the key is not on the bunch you left in the house..... (no I haven't)

Before riding off make sure the removable luggage is actually locked on properly

If using a on-bike camera make sure the view does NOT include the spedo

If using a plastic bag as a hat make sure no one has a camera

Remember no matter how good your machine looks when you park up there is always someone who will go one better

When parking your bike make it as hard as possible for any git to nick it unless they can do a good job of riding off road

When returning to this country via Dover and you get waved though customs make sure your helmet is on before you ride though as you go straight onto main roads with no helmet otherwise (yep I did)

I'm getting confused here (doesn't take much).
So those "flavours" listed with mg amounts, DON'T have any actual nicotine in them???

How many Ex smokers think they are getting a nicotine fix when in fact they are not :lol  proving you really don't need it  8)

Just for the record, I gave up the fags when they went up to a pound a pack!

MG rating IS how much nicotine is in the liquid you can get 0MG liquid right up to 54 MG (more if you mix your own) I started on 18MG and am now down to 6/8mg dependant on where I buy it.

The flavour is just that a flavour and MG is the strength

Eshops such as TECC, E-Ciggy and totally wicked sell on line and accept paypal as well as other payment methods.

At the moment I use a Tabac with a standard 510 battery (510 is the connection not a rating the same as the ego ones) I am on 8mg/ 6mg usually use RY4 (slight caramel flavour) you can buy tobacco flavours almost anywhere such as TECC. totally wicked etc no price difference in any of them http://www.theelectroniccigarette.co.uk/products/e-liquid/pre-mixed/titan-fluid-products.html
Some people like to stick to a brand (like fags) as they all vary a bit. I find that the higher the nicotine the harsher the draw off them.
I started with Tesco ones with cartomisers then moved on to a microlite from there to a titan tank system (liquid is cheaper than replacement cartomisers and more flavours available) then I went to an Ego-C and now on this thing the Tacac works OK but the atomisers I find do not last as long, as they have a 510 thread I can use my battery's from the Ego and in fact the titan.

It is just the same as fags there are many to choose from each with good and bad points, if you are new to it maybe try either a disposable or one of the cheap ones from Asda or Tesco to see if you get on with them then move onto the better types and experiment with flavours etc
