I have a FZS600 seat from a 2000 bike. It has a small repair, a black 15mm patch, apart from that its very good.

FZS600 Fazer / Re: What have you done to your FZS600 bike today

Adjusted the TPS on my 98 boxeye, finally. I started the job last week but chewed up the torq screws despite me using the correct bit. Couldn't get the barstewards to shift!

Had to resort to chopping the heads off with a 22mm cutting disc on my Multitool. Fitted 2 allen head bolts which should ensure they come off easy next time. :)

For Sale & Wanted / For Sale-Mk1 FZS 600
« on: 19 July 2015, 08:22:47 pm »
Up for sale is my 1998 Fazer 600. It's red and has 10,016 miles, MOT's confirm the low mileage and runs to March 2016. Condition is excellent, apart for some light corrosion on the forks. Starts 1st push of the button, no nasty noises, strong smooth engine. Brakes excellent, Michelin tyres good. I am in IG6 3BA (London/Essex). PM me if you're interested.

I've got one in the shed, from a year 2000 FZS 600. It has a small 1" patch which is not noticeable, otherwise is good.
Yours if you can collect. London/Essex area.

For Sale & Wanted / Re: For Sale: Carburettor to engine rubbers FZS 600
« on: 26 September 2013, 08:50:17 am »
Cheap price = cheap parts. What I am selling is the 4 rubbers (52 each on the link) and the blanks and fittings. About £220 from that site. I think £60 is very reasonable.
Glad you agree these parts can be bought quite cheaply brand new. They look good quality too. Can't be any worse than Yamaha's OE items anyway, they begin cracking up quite early.

I bought 4 for my 98 FZS600 for £75 a couple of months back, have not fitted them yet they are still in the shed. Brand new parts.
On the box the part number is 229845.

FZS600 Fazer / Re: Best replacement caliper.....
« on: 08 September 2013, 01:52:54 pm »

All done now. Got a HEL Braided hose from Wemoto. Fitted this morning, usual hassle priming but considering these things are usually a pain to bleed, it was quite straight forward really. I even got it done before the rain arrived.
Have only road-tested in the confines of my back garden so far, but it's fine, nice firm pedal. If the sun makes a re-appearance this afternoon I shall test it further.
Thanks for the helpful feedback. Really appreciated.

Latest on this TRX to FZS upgrade is that I've fitted the new (to me) caliper onto my Fazer, and after the normal ease and grease service I have got almost as far as bleeding. Yes almost is the operative word. The hose is too short! So sods law stops play.
I should have paid more attention to previous posts as I was advised to get the 'donor bike's hose as they're a bit longer'.
Nuff said, I'll order one.

Just an update to say I've ordered from Ebay a TRX Caliper and torque arm, from the pics on the posting it looks like the carrier is included. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction. I'll keep you posted.

Good point, no I don't, not on the rear brake. But I do need a working rear brake, I have been faffing about with 2 dodgy Fazer calipers trying to make 1 useable one. And the summer is fast disappearing.
Thanks for the expert advice, greatly appreciated.  :)

....for the rear brake of a FZS 600 '98? I have been told that a R1 will fit with some filing of the mounts, and a TRX will fit with it's carrier and torque arm. So what is the best brake to fit?

For Sale & Wanted / FOR SALE: 98 FZS 600 CHEAP
« on: 19 June 2013, 01:30:50 pm »
1998 Mk 1 Red 34,000 miles. T&T. Just not being used. 100% reliable. New Bridgestone tyres. New front wheel bearings. New brake pads all round. Newish Yuasa battery.
Bad bits (there's always some!). The speedo has stopped working, probably I have refitted the speedo-drive incorrectly after the tyre change. The bodywork is a bit shabby, plastics not holed at all but some scratches.
I thought I would offer it on here before Ebaying it.
£850

I have an old tank (from a Diversion) that is full of petrol that has been in there for most of the year. It will I know, be trouble if I stick it in the Fazer. But I'm reluctant to waste it.   Is there an additive on the market that will make it useable?
