yeah, the only logic I could apply to going backwards (from a foxeye to a boxeye, I mean), is maybe they are trying to fix-up on the cheap and so buying used parts etc.

Its more the 51plate foxeye Ive seen which seems odd to me, I could understand seeing a late registered boxeye, but an early registered foxeye? seems sketchy to me, so thought I would check the years out :)

FZS600 Fazer / Boxeye/Foxeye years?
« on: 24 June 2013, 03:06:02 am »
Hi guys,

just a quick one this, I understand the foxeye model FZS was supposed to come in on 2002, is that right? was there a fair amount of boxeyes sold after this, and was there foxeyes sold BEFORE this?

The reason I ask is, ive been keeping an eye on gumtree/ebay/biketrader at the FZS600, and have spotted a few in the last few weeks on an 02/03 plate that are still boxeyes, and one of the bikes I've been taking lessons on is a 51 plate foxeye (complete with the tuning fork logos rather than the yamaha lettering etc).

I just want to know if this is normal, or if I should be wary of some of these which may have had accident damage and had the wrong panels as replacements? maybe just the cynic in me though  :lol

Cheers,

Mick

sorry, only just saw your post dudeness :)

Tapatalk is a forum reader app; basically, it strips away all non-essentials, and makes browsing the forum very much like reading a text message. you wont see avatars, and the interface is completely different visually.

It works very well, and due to its stripped back nature, it generally loads a lot quicker on the mobile than the equivalent thread if you were to view it through your web viewer on the phone (or tablet, this is especially so when the thread is media heavy with lots of pictures).

All in all, I think its worth every penny (I think it was around £1.50 or something?), and makes browsing on the go much cleaner and simpler, for me at least, anyway.

I hope this somewhat answers your question  :D

i can empathise with that matey, my N103 does that as well. I also get a whistling which is either coming from a vent, or the visor is not seated correctly, its not always done it, but it winds me up no end

In response to the earlier question about coating Visors/Helmets earlier from someone, I re-did my Helmet tonight with Carpro HydrO2 (and did my visor with my usual Gtechniq G5), heres a quick video of its sheeting abilities, as you can imagine, sheeting rain off at speed is not an issue much

That looks like just the result I'm looking for. Thanks for filming that little demonstration.

how did you get on with the HydrO2 Simon? did you get it ok?

« on: 23 June 2013, 02:00:35 am »
So, im almost due a new helmet soon, as my current one must be 3-4 years old, and has seen a bit of action. I've got a Nolan N103 at present, which has been great really, if a bit heavy.

Toying with getting a "better" quality helmet this time, perhaps a Schuberth C3. I like flip-ups, as it saves the constant on-off at petrol stations etc. Also I had looked at the Shark Evoline 3, as you can ride that open faced, but its not in my size.

I know the old adage of "get what fits" is important here, and I will of course pop into HG or something before taking the plunge to make sure whatever i settle on fits properly and doesnt have any hot spots, but some recommendations of something that is reasonably quiet, I can get a bluetooth headset into (I dont mind if its an integrated/OEM one like the nolan/schuberth one), and one with a flip down sun visor would be nice too, but not essential!

So..what have you guys got at the minute?

General / Re: If you didn't have to wear a helmet, would you?
« on: 22 June 2013, 02:33:40 pm »
As I've only ever ridden since the introduction of the "helmet law", I've no idea what it's like to ride with my helmet off. I dare say fi the law was abolished tomorrow, I would probably try it, just the once to see how it feels. I must admit though, the thought of all the flies, bees, and other bugs in my face doesn't appeal massively. maybe on the odd short trip just in 20/30mph zones, but certainly never on the dual carriageway or motorway for me.

« on: 20 June 2013, 11:30:28 pm »
Yep, if you DoD the CBT on a ped, then that's all you can ride. It also needs renewing every 2 years.

I thought once you've done a cbt it covers you for any learner category for 2 years i.e. do it on a moped at 16 and you don't have to do another to ride a geared 125 at 17?

Yes and no. I did my CBT at 16 on a 1979 Honda CB50. As it was a geared bike, I could step up to a larger 125cc at 17 without redoing it. If you do it on a 50cc scooter you can step up to a 125cc scooter without doing it, but if you want a geared bike, you will need to take it again. As said, its like passing your test on an auto, you can't then ride a manual :)

Good luck with the job hunt christo, maybe you should go and talk to some engineering shops and see if one of them will take you on for a few weeks (arrange to come back for all the holidays through your uni terms?)

Worst anyone can say is no, and shy kids don't get any sweets mind.

I'm doing my degree part time, alongside a full time job, and its not easy, but needs must when the bills need paid :)

D.I.D X Ring heavy duty Gold chain & sprocket kit every time for me  :)

I had one of these on my old Suzuki DR400, and the abuse it took was mental. Definitely would recommend these chain and sprockets also.

Thanks everyone for the kind words, feels great to get one part out the way, just need to polish the normal riding standard for mod 2.

What's this swerve then?

(sorry, haven't done a test in a while,,,)

You can view the full layout of the mod 1 course online, here:

On a Fazer, no less :)

Only got 1 rider error for doing the swerve at 47kph the first time, got 51 on the second attempt though (although it didn't feel safe to me trying to do that speed in the wet?) . Well chuffed, just meed to get mod2 done now and I can get out riding on a proper bike in stead of my lady boy 125 :lol

The fella doing the test before me dropped his fazer too, right at the start while wheeling it into the parking space, didn't put it on the stand properly and over it went. I couldn't believe it.

Anyway, yeah, there's my useless story for today :o

Have you considered maybe getting tapatalk instead, I think to get rid of if the coding for the entire site would need to be changed (there would need to be a custom CSS or style and a mobile redirect to point mobiles to a different version of the site, or the code would need completely removed for everyone).

I don't think you can do anything to remove it or stop it happening, other than change to tapatalk, which would also solve your problem.

« on: 10 June 2013, 06:24:56 pm »
If its sporty looking he's after try the Yamaha yzf 125 (baby r6), Honda CBR 125 (baby fire blade), or the aprilia RS125 (baby rsv mille).

All of the above are, as said, very expensive to buy, insure, and repair if you have a spill.

Ive got a 125cc at present and am working towards my full license. Agree with all of the abovem avoid all the chinese copied makes, they are not worth bothering with and are utterly unreliable.

Ive got a VL125 (suzuki) which is a sort of cruiser style bike, its a bit bigger so suits someone like me who has a, ahem, larger frame shall we say :lol

I would recommend a Honda CG125, or Yamaha YBR 125 (which are very similar), both of these are what he will likely do his CBT on, and are very reliable bikes. they do hold value well because of this though, but the insurance is a lot cheaper than the equivalent CBR or YZF as its not such a sports style.

Your quite welcome Simon.

If your looking for the cheapest place to get some, your best buying it direct from carprouk rather than one of the myriad of resellers (Google carprouk and the site will come up).

Its usually £12 for 100ml (which makes 400-500ml when diluted), however, if you only want it to do your helmet, I'm sure he used to do a smaller sample bottle at 50ml, which would be more than enough to do your helmet a few times :)

EDIT, yeah, he does a 50ml sample for 6.50, unless you want to do the bike as well, you probably wouldn't need the 100ml.
