For Sale & Wanted / For Sale: Complete Thundercat Fork Conversion
« on: 27 August 2015, 01:10:15 pm »
Hi guys, I have a complete set of Thundercat Forks, yokes, stem, bearings, clip ons and front wheel spindle for sale. They where bought for a rebuild i'm doing, however i've decided to go down a different route with a set of USD forks. They are completely straight, not leaking oil at all, they have good springs and the adjusters and threads are in near perfect condition. It will come without the ignition barrel, as i still need that! haha but its very easy to drill and extract the shear bolts currently holding in your ignition barrel, and a new set of shear bolts from Yamaha is about £4. I will post some pictures later on today and will get a postage quote.
Offers around £100 + postage!
Absolute Bargain!

FZS600 Fazer / The dreaded fork thread!
« on: 01 April 2015, 03:59:58 pm »
Hi guys, onto the fork section of my Cafe Fazer build now. I decided to strip them down and change the seals and oil, I didn't want to have problems down the line. I discovered the stanchion tubes were dented and the chrome was pitted. My mechanical OCD said I had to replace them as I didn't trust them much, nor liked the look of them anyway. I planned on putting Hagon or Hyperpro springs in and a heavier weight oil, however upon discovering that new stanchion tubes were gonna total around £150+, I decided it would be good idea to look into doing a fork swap. I've seen that the Thundercat and TRX850 forks were good options, I just wondered were there any other options, if not then which out of the Thundercat and TRX850 forks were the better option? The TRX850 forks seem to be a bit cheaper and more available on the likes of ebay, but if there's much difference (i.e favouring the thundercat forks) then i'll hang on and do something else with the build until something becomes available.

The speedo drive wont be an issue as I am replacing the standard gauges for a digital Koso set, so I am likely to opt for something like a magnetic drive or something of the like.

Thanks guys!

FZS600 Fazer / Starter Relay HELP!!
« on: 28 February 2015, 07:06:39 pm »
So a few days ago, I took the starter relay out of the bike to clean the contacts whilst I was deep into the electrical side of things. I pulled the block that holds the fuses off the top and somehow managed to snap the little metal plate that links the battery terminal to the fuse. Are these little metal plates obtainable seperately or do i have to get a new starter relay?
thanks guys!

FZS600 Fazer / HELP! Voltage at Coils
« on: 12 February 2015, 07:45:16 pm »
Hi guys, getting fed up of still getting no spark on my fazer cafe racer build. Been through all the micro switches (sidestand etc) tested the coils, leads, plugs etc. Even tried another wiring loom, but still nothing. The new loom fixed the problem of a badly installed alarm and nothing happening when the starter was pressed. I am now thinking its the CDI box itself, i tested the voltage reaching the coils and without turning over its about 12.8 volts, but when the button is pressed it drops to about 7v? should this be happening? If anyone has any other ideas please speak out! haha

Cheers guys

FZS600 Fazer / 1/4 Ignition coil problem
« on: 03 February 2015, 08:16:11 pm »
Hi Guys, so today was the day to start the girl up after re-installing the engine during my cafe racer build :)
Ignition on, fuel pump primed, neutral light on, press the button, engine turns over but no start. Go to check for spark and there is nothing from cylinder 1/4 (coil plugged in, spark plug grounded on engine, no spark upon pressing the button). Whipped out the multi-meter to check the resistance of the primary and secondary winding coils and plug caps as per haynes manual,  to find all the readings are within the ranges specified.
I am still learning all about this, but could there be any other problems or is that a replacement lead/coil?

Cheers

FZS600 Fazer / Help Identifying a few things :)
« on: 02 February 2015, 07:41:51 pm »
Hey guys,
I'm Max, i have just introduced myself over in the newbie page.
I need some help identifying a few bits that i can't work out where they belong.
I've just re-installed the engine back in my 2000 Fazer 600 that i'm re-building as a cafe racer.
I will upload some pictures shortly. There are 3 little bits of hose. One T piece with two 3/4" hoses on, one small hose about 1' - 1.5' long and another slightly larger of about the same length, theres also a small plastic fuel filter shaped piece with a union on each end, but its empty.
Any ideas as to what these are?
Thanks guys  :D
