FZS600 Fazer / Re: R6 rear shock vs BMW S1000RR

Iv just received and fitted an r6 shock from kebab. Haven't ridden it yet. Waiting for dry track. But the conversion is good and feels quite a bit stiffer than the standard shock.

Finished off my front end conversion this weekend (well I say finished. ....finished for now lol)

Might not be to every body's taste but I think it looks good

Hi. How long have you had the bike? Has it been sat for a while before you have ridden it? When we're the carbs last cleaned?

Basically I think you may have a flat spot in the mid range rather than all of a sudden more power.... well in a sense you do get more power all of a sudden. But due to the flat spot. If that makes sense :eek

I would suggest getting the carbs cleaned and valve clearances checked and go from there

Thanks chaps

So if my thinking is correct if I take it 1 down on the front and 1 up on the back  I won't need to alter the chain length ?

Cheers

heres a couple pics of mine all painted up, pretty much finished now

I have thought ahead and made sure that i can put it all back to standard should the time come that I decide to move it on, as i'm sure, unless its something really special, its worth more in standard form.

FZS600 Fazer / Sprocket advice
« on: 09 October 2016, 08:57:04 am »
Hi all.

Have any of you changed front and rear sprockets to +/- number of teeth.

I'm interested to know how acceleration vs top end is affected.

I'm not overly concerned with top end speed as you can't really make good use of it on the road (legally) but would make use of better acceleration.

Does it make that much difference ? Any figures to back up?
Best combinations ?

Thanks in advance

This is the look I'm going for. Obviously the spacing will be better once it's finished

Hmm interesting. What's the easiest way to get a 120 section in a fazer ?

Excellent. Thanks guys. Got the bt023 fitted. Seems a bit better. Not really had chance to fully test as too much traffic about this morning.  Iv ordered some flat bars to bring my body weight down and lower the centre of gravity.

I'm interested to hear about lifting the forks through the yokes. Iv not heard of that before?

Right. Got the money together for a tyre (expensive motogp weekend) what are the best tyres re handling but maybe with a harder centre section for those commuting miles

Thanks for all the replies.  I will check the tyres once i get back from work.

I'm 12 and a half stone. So average weight I'd say.

I am comparing it to a 1988 cbr 600 and the cbr felt more connected if you know what I mean. Whereas the fazer seems a little distant. If that makes sense. Reading up on the fazer before I bought it,  I read that they are really good handling bikes.

.....yeah but you're 5'2" so we'll just call it fat shall we  :lol

You'll be amazed how much a new pair of tyres will transform it.. Inheriting a set from a motorway mileage muncher or a roundabout knee down hero never usually suits the new owner.. Its no sportbike, but once half sorted, they arent half bad  :)

:agree  If they're squared off from mile munching then a new set will transform it.

Lol I'm 5'11 but call it fat if you like lol

Il price up a new rear and go from there. Any recommendations for places to get tyres from ? Other than quick shit

I have only owned the bike for a few months. So I'm not sure on

Had a look at the tyres and the centre is more worn than the edges. So that may be some of the problem.

The yolks are right at the top of the forks.

Il look at changing the fork oil and rear tyre.

Is there anything I can do to improve the handling on my 2003 fazer?  Feels very sketchy when you try any decent lean angle. It's on Bridgestone battlax tyres.

Evening all. I'm toying with the idea of customising the front end of my fazer. So I'm looking for pics of your custom bikes so I can see what certain things look like

Thanks

Hi all. Just signed up. Bought a 03 fox eye fazer 600 recently. I love it. Thought I better introduce myself. I'm Sam 29 married kids dog etc.

Had an old cbr 600 before the fazer but found it uncomfortable so decided on a more upright position and settled on a fazer..
