Title: the david silver honda collection
Post by: red98 on 18 October 2017, 09:24:15 am
Day off yesterday so had a day out on the mighty thou and visited david silver in Leiston , Suffolk .

for all you non honda fans David Silver is the man to go to for classic honda parts from the early 60's  to the 90's

he has built up a collection of 150 classic honda's dating from a 1951 dream 'E' type to a 1990 's oval piston NR750 one of approx 30 in the country , suggested that this is the largest private honda collection outside japan.

well worth a visit but it is a little out of the way , approx 20 miles north of felixstowe on the east coast a couple of miles from sizewell....

I recall using Dave Silver Spares once or twice in the early 80’s for hard-to-find spares for my CG125, didn’t realise he was still going let alone that he has such a collection.
Ah, the Never-Ready 750… who’d have thought oval pistons would be a technological dead end? :rollin

More shiny shiny's!.

Great collection. That ATC90 with the huge balloon tyres is a odd looking thing. Not seen one of those before.

Thanks for the tip off. Fairly near me and would make a nice trip out with Southwold and Aldeburgh 8)
Does this mean the 400/4 is nearly back on the road?  :)

Only in my dreams MTREAD...working on my X7 at the moment , I cheated on the 400/4 , these engines are expensive to rebuild so I bought a complete replacement suposed to be "good to go "....painted it all up and fitted to the freshly painted frame , looked fantastic and started up first prod of the starter , happy at the time but now it has started to smoke a little  :\  i still have the origanal matching numbers engine which requires a new cam chain etc so thats my job for the winter
A nice early F1 registered In the same month as they were launched , i know its not the first but it comes pretty close...

as most people I have too many projects and Iam easily distracted   :o ...i am getting better than i was , it must be at least a couple of years since a bought any new toys   :)

well worth the visit if you go...free coffee too  ;)

I went to Silver Spares to collect parts for a 550/4. It was a good day out but before he had a collection of bikes on show. Must be 25 years since I've last been. I might have a ride out there to have a peek.

I'd be up for that. Might have to use the Triumph if I don't get the undertray sorted in time, although got it zip tied well enough to pass it's MOT yesterday.

I'd be up for that, especially as a elofo (east lofo). Could be twinned with a nice promenade along Aldeburgh seafront 🍦
