If somebody cuts me up, or I see driving like a total disregardful person,  then I'll follow him, and then challenge him.    Not the best idea.  I once sprinted after a @black muslim@ guy driving about 60 in a 30 and leaned in through his window and scared the sweet fuck out of him.  It all depends on how much the idiotic behaviour of other drivers affects you.    One cunt in a new mini cut me up, and gave me the finger.  80 metres later, he was stuck at a red light,  and I had hoofed it up out of my car,   screaming wife inside,  with a mini crowbar, having told my wife I'm going to smash his fucking face to a pulp.     I just reached level with him, when the lights turned and he raced away.    You should have seen the look on his coupon. He was white as a sheet.     I can guarantee the sight of a 6'4 20 stone skinhead running and screaming at you will make even the most ignorant of cunts, think  twice.   I didn't even notice the queue of cars stuck behind mine.   But they were all very quiet.

Some cunts just need a battering.

ps- I mentioned the color, as I'd just watched Chris Brown video the nite before,  and reckoned the black guy must have nicked the car.

pps - this behaviour was all pre diagnosis.   It's got a label now,  so I can get away with it.     :rollin

You know the law.   So it's up to you.  I used a black visor on an arai race helmet,  in the summer, but it was a pain when the clouds came out.  I got a flipdown sunglass type thing, which worked much better.  One of the RS helmets =  schuberth copy.  Most comfy lid I've had,  with bluetooth as well.
But to be honest,  the best solution I found was the (can't remember the name) stick on,  uv activated jobby that darkens to a blue color when the sun breaks, and fades to a slight smoked tint when it doesnt.  I can't remember the name as I had a new visor sent over by my folks and told them to go to crossans in newry and just ask for a visor for whatever agv it was, and stick that thing on that goes dark!!

Dark visors are just a pain in the UK.  Just no guarantee of any Sun,  never mind too much!!!!

I don't often get a chance to visit these days, due to various headfucks life has thrown in my general direction.    But I just want to say a big thank you to Deefer666,  Mark,  for not only looking after my bike(s),  when I went awol in the head,   and for charging me nothing,  even when I knew it(they) were taking up half the man's workspace.
I can't say much more,  except if there were more people like Mark around,  the World wouldnt have any problems.

If you need any bodywork, or mechanical work doing,  PLEASE, do us all a favour,  and try and give the business to Mark.   He has treated me as good as my folks have when things got bad,  and "friends"  became invisible.

THANK YOU MARK!!!!!!!!!!

I  can't repay you fully in this lifetime,  but I'll try.

ITV player.   You should be able to get most of the races still there.

I had oxfords in the past, and a couple I can't remember.  Oxford were great.  Hot and never had any bother with them.  If i did winter riding again, i'd try and get heated gloves as well as grips,  as the blood supply to my left arm is pretty shite now,  and difficult to get heat into the arm.

I lasted 4 months, before I had to get another one.  Bigger and faster.

Wife or Bike?

ha ha ha!!  :rollin   I couldn't find a buyer for the wife on ebay,  so I'm stuck with  her.   Waiting for better times,  then I'll send her to a plastic surgeon for an overhaul.

Gen 2,  2 sporty for me.  Had an r1 and the sporty attributes soon lost their attraction due to my size, and general fatness  :'(   Switching between r1 and gen1 was like switching from a racing speedboat, to a big cruiser.  I've not ridden a gen2, but sat on a few and found em too small.

I've been away a long time. Serious illness, job loss and all that goes with it, but I've still got my gen1 waiting in the wings, til times get better.

Even if I end up on the street,  the bike will still be there.   It gives me hope.

I see a lot of new names.   But still a few of the old foul dudes  :D

Merry xmas to all and safe winter biking to the hardcore foccers.

Looking forward to reading about whats been happening in foccerland since I've been away, and making new foccer friends.

A guy was still racing a 125 at the TT aged 72!!    You're a youngster!   Biking keeps you alive.   If you sell,  I can tell you,  you will regret it.  I once sold a bike because of pressure from the wife.   I lasted 4 months, before I had to get another one.  Bigger and faster.   Get yourself a cheap motor runaround for winter.

ref Toselands injury ...I have posted b4 that I empathize with JT cos I had almost the same injury from a bike crash. Its actually an impossible injury to recover from. Full stop. End of story. So please just stop thinking JT somehow wimped out. His wrist injury is non operable, non recoverable. He , like me is living on borrowed time before his wrist will need a full fusion , at which point any sort of wrist movement is ceased = great difficulty in using the throttle. As  road rider thi swill create great difficulty in riding a bike, let alone race one.... It really makes me mad when people who know absolutely zilch about an injury profess wisdom on such ....JT was forced out , not wimped out. :(

I fully agree Pitt.  I bust my wrist in 92 - distal radial fracture or a "colles" fracture.  It was set, but I fell on it again, and it slightly moved and became unstable.  It had to be "broken" again, and reset.  It is mis-shapen compared to the right wrist, and is unstable when I put my full weight on it,  so when you've a wrist that moves around a bit,  you're never going to have full control when exerting maximum pressure on the joint - braking from 200mph plus could easily dislocate it,  and/or fracture again.    Wrists are very hard to heal because, my doc said,  the blood supply to the bones is very poor indeed.

After searching for a long time, I found a free sky 1 feed on wiziwig.tv  or wiziwig.eu     the one below is currently working good for sky 1 coverage.   Beats having to pay extra to watch it on TV.  You get ads popping up on some feeds,  but they will close when you click on the x button.    Not as good as tv,  but good enough for me ! :D

ps - I haven't tried any top speed antics on the 05 full montyed fazer, but did try for a fast run up to 4th gear.  It started pulling so hard at 6k in third that I hadn't time to look at the speedo, as my stomach muscles got a work out just trying to hold on.   Was very very similar to the way the r1 behaved.

With an ivans slip on, I got an indicated 160 on the fazer.  That was flat on the tank on the, er, M3, earlyish on a sunday.  I got an indicated 172 on a 99 r1 on same stretch of road.  Don't know what the true speed was, but i got an extra thrill out of the deserted road by closing my eyes and seeing how far I could count to on a full throttle in top.  Got up to 6 one time,  one thousand, two thousand,  then I'd open my eyes and see how far I'd deviated off my line :)   That was the ultimate adrenaline rush.  The ptsd insanity was bad in those days.  Wouldnt do it now.  Well, I don't think I'd do it now, as that apparently indicates not caring whether you live or die according to my therapist ha ha ha!!!!!

Commuted for three years into westminster on a bandit, fazer and an xt600.  The fazer was a handful to filter fast on,  which I sort of became addicted to and would race people doing the same thing.  Haven't really done it since I wrote off the xt when a merc decided to do a uturn in front of a bus (100m from my home doh!) at 40mph.  Bastard rider behind me said he saw it was my fault as i was riding insanely fast for the conditions,  so i had to pay thru my insurance for 4k worth of damage to the merc.   I'd managed to do the drivers door, which had been totalled and wouldn't close, then I hit roof and bonnet with my body and bike swung round and did the front wing.  It was a 6m old car with a woman driver.  She said her son was bragging to his mates the next day as he was in the back seat and said he thought his car had been bombed:)
Lost interest in commuting after that,  but still consider it now and again if i could pick up a cheap scooter or another thin bike like the xt.  I could get up on to pavements with that and other obstructions.  Also got done on the r1 for doing 59mph just before the houses of parliament.

I've only got through the Misery that purportedly celebrates the birth of The Jew On The Donkey,  that accursed Nazarene,  with the help of Alcohol and pharmaceuticals.   Foccing hate it,  so if anyone has any alcohol or pharmaceuticals they don't need,  as they buy into the corporate sponsored spendathon, and nauseating Text Santa and associated Shite,  and don't need their mind altering for the duration,  I'd be "eternally" grateful,  and will gladly visit a crib, and try not to nick anything,  in return.    I may also, subject to being able to speak without slurring,  greet my fellow residents with a hearty "merry xmas".

« on: 14 December 2011, 01:39:55 am »
You're (I think) obliged to notify your insurers of any road accident on your bike involving other parties,  so give them a call and let them know.  Also, get a copy of the police report and send that to them,  and details of the other parties involved and any witnesses.
You'd be surprised at the number of times people change their minds after accidents,  and misremember the accident.   The police saying you weren't in the "driving without due care and attention" category doesn't mean your liability is absolved.  The guy in the car would have a valid claim for damage to his car, definitely.    The cyclist might also try and get his bike repaired on your account.

Crikey Mike,  that is still a seriously ugleee exhaust!  Get it changed old man.    S'almost as bad as Luke's cuttofuck one.  I see he advertised it as an "Akra Stubby",  and didn't mention it'd bin damaged and he'd wielded the inch removal device.  :pokefun

I'd recommend you read this thoroughly.   Ignore the terrorism bit.  It's a general clause so the FO doesn't get slagged for not warning of a terrorist incident,  and stops them having to put in threat specific information.
The travelling public complain about the most trivial things  :wall     like not being warned their kid could get incinerated in a bombing!
The only incidents I dealt with on a regular basis were RTAs.  The standard of driving is so poor it has to be seen to be believed.   That's your main chance of coming to grief :'(
Have a great trip  :rollin :sun

General / Improving riding
« on: 13 December 2011, 04:34:30 pm »
Personally,  I think any opportunity to learn anything helpful to your riding should be taken up.    You can take what you think is useful to you, and leave the rest.
I rode alone for quite a long time,  and never got my little bandit over 7k.   The day I started riding with a motley group who shared only two things in common,  one being their love of motorcycles,  I really improved.   Compared to me, the boys and girls all had vastly more saddle time.     The bikes ranged from a fireblade to a vmax,  although the smallest cc bike was mine.     My mistakes (safety critical) were pointed out to me, along with helpful suggestions about how I could improve.   I found that there were a few riders (both sexes) whose riding skill sets I wanted to have.    After six months, I felt confident to handle a bigger and faster bike.
Speed limits were usually exceeded outside 30 zones (30 limits were never exceeded). The routes were planned and reconnoitered by one member before their turn to lead the weekly sunday rideout, and always included some nice high speed(able) sections.  If you weren't into riding at speed,  there wasn't any pressure to.  Regular waypoints meant nobody got left behind.   The route usually included a place of interest, or was to and from a coastal town, as sitting on a beach, even in winter, was a great weekly distraction from London for a lot of us.    Another group also operated in the northern region.
One thing I learnt from these people,  was that if you let what you thought other people may think of you,  stop you from doing anything in life,  then your life was going to be limited in experience.   I found the comments about meaningful looks amusing.  How do you define what a look means?  :pokefun
I thought the major advantage of taking an IAM test/training or similar was not mentioned,  in that these groups can get you a discount on your insurance.  No matter how you think they look at you  :lol
