FZS600 Fazer / Front Forks Replacement
« on: 13 August 2015, 01:29:46 pm »
Hey all,

So frustratingly I only replaced my fork's oil seals last week and now the rust on my chrome has already destroyed them again.
As the local shop says about £150 + labour to re-chrome, does anyone know the part-number / name of the piece I could replace (inner forks of FZS600 2002 model) as they seem to be eluding me on ebay.

That or a recommendation that I should just take the re-chrome option?

Any advice gladly appreciated,

Martin

FZS600 Fazer / FZS600 Drive Diagnosis
« on: 21 January 2014, 08:52:43 pm »
Good evening ladies and gents,

I'm having some diagnosis issues with my FZS600 Foxeye and thought here would be the most knowledgeable place to ask!
The problem started rather suddenly as the bike felt like it was stuttering on the way home.
Once back I put it up on the centre stand and something is definitely up as the chain appears to be intermittently jumping off the top of the guide rail by about 2cm but continuing to run.
First thought was replacing the worn out drive chain and sprocket with new genuine parts (rather successfully for my first repair I'm quite proud of) but the issue still persists.
All is well while the bike is in neutral / not moving but everything starts up when the drive starts turning, so I believe it's either something to do with the clutch or the gearbox.
I have gearbox warranty, but don't want to pass it off to them if it's something I can fix myself, so any suggestions as to what might be the cause would be much obliged!

Thanks in advance,

Martin

FZS600 Fazer / Foxeye Drive Chain Kit
« on: 14 January 2014, 11:26:38 am »
Just a short one but I feel the need to clarify after being fed 2 opposing pieces of info.

Recently purchased a new genuine Yamaha drive chain kit for my 5RT1 model Fazer.
The kit itself was advertised as 2000-2003, but the box received has 1998-2000 written on it in big black marker pen.
After raising the point with the seller they say that the kit should be fine with 1999 - 2002 models.
However my research says that the part number changed when the Foxeye model arrived.

Part number I received: 5DMW001A0100
Part number I supposedly need: 5DMW001A0000

My question: Can I use the chain I have received as the seller says (the part number changed but not the part?) or should I insist on an exchange?

Introduction / Been a while coming, but I'm here.
« on: 14 January 2014, 11:16:35 am »
Morning all!

Gamer, nerd, student but dear lord I do love my motor.
I always planned on getting a proper motorcycle once I could but you know how parents are about 'safety' and I was dissuaded down onto a moped and from there into getting a car license that I practically never used as I saw it merely as a tool to get from A to B with as little effort as possible.
My younger sister however is a little more forceful than me and managed to get a YBR125 which I promptly fell in love with.
A year down the line I saved up, passed my A2 and the jump to my Fazer was just as satisfying as the jump to the 125 even with the restriction.
As I never got a first car this Fazer is *MY* Fazer and so I'll do all I can to love it to bits and make it truly my own.
The Haynes manual is out and ready to roll :D

TL;DR: A little later getting my bike than anticipated, but now I'm here I love it all the more, expect questions. Lots of ;)
