FZS600 Fazer / Re: ACF 50

The thing with doing it out of winter or lets say doing it in the dry summer is that dust sticks to it and looks dirty

Thats when I prefer fs365  or gt85 as it washes off easily to get the bike looking clean again. Then just reapply until a proper thorough coat of ACF50 when winter comes round.

General / Re: ABS brakes ?

Quite pleased at the general positive attitude to ABS here. On other forums people can be really anti with strong views on being able yo brake quicker without it. My feeling is this is only for a select few professional riders and even then if an emergency actually happens, chances are they're not as controlled as test conditions. ABS kicks in before you're even aware of any lock up and you can concentrate on the danger to avoid.

Definitely worth it imo :)

It is a legal requirement that you update the photo on the card license every ten years. Therefore I would guess that to still hold a paper only license is illegal, and the fines can be quite draconian.

It might have changed but there was no requirement to update an old paper license unless you changed any details like address etc.

Worth checking on the dvla website though.

Agree about Beowulf, nice cans but the logo ruins the whole look.

I've had Fuel cans on two bikes so far and the quality and sound has been great, you even get a bar of Kendal Mint Cake in the box, which swings the whole deal for me  ;)

or car/bike keys

I wouldn't even accept that, you never know if their bike/car isn't nicked.

Cold hard cash only as above ;)

I had one on an old zx7r years ago and got so fed up with it I took the rear side panel off and cut it out of the loom. It was surprisingly easy to reconnect all the wiring and was back up and running in about 15 minutes.

I always leave mine on not just to catch good rides etc but also in case some idiot pulls out on me and I have the footage to prove the insurance claim.

Just don't have the speedo in shot ;)

Personally depending on application I would go for a Drift of some type.

Agree, I've got a Drift HD and its great kit, built in screen, remote control, shower proof out of the box :)

Those look good for the price though if the build quality is good enough for long term use on a bike.

Introduction / Less than a week to pick up the 'new' Faz
« on: 17 March 2014, 06:10:10 pm »
Put a deposit on a Fazer 1000 this weekend and should be picking it up this weekend hopefully if all goes ok with my bank manager letting the cash out of his cold tightly curled fingers.

Its a 2011 model and looks like its been well looked after - hoping to get a good few miles on it and possibly at least one European trip later this year.

Had a good few bikes over the years, from sports to more of a touring slant these days as getting a bit too old for the full on race position, especially over long distance.

Anyway, thought I'd drop in a say hello - have been loitering in the background for a while before I made the decision and looks a lively place  :)
