Another body today ,10 in total now , kill rate is slowing so might be winning the battle , was away from home last night and it looked as if the last victim had been in the trap for a while , luckily mrs red is out this evening so was able to give the traps a good clean with a pink toothbrush and rebait the traps... ;)

One more this morning , slightly bigger than average this one , no match for the trap though , traps are endorsed by rentokill think I paid £ 2.97 each , cheap and effective , upto 11 now , see what today brings....

You need to keep setting and checking your traps for at least another 2 to 4 weeks after you find your last body to be sure you get them all. Try to find any holes they may be getting in through and block, remove any food stuffs or put in metal or glass containers. When I did my pest control training the first thing we were told by the instructor is mice and rats think of only 3 things breeding/sex, food, nesting. I am at the moment getting rid of an infestation of mice in my own garage my own fault left some fishing bait out in bags not mice proof containers.

Don't tell me mice love boilIes, flavour preference? The renown Hampshire mice prefer sinking pellet.
Actually now you have said that I will go check my fishing cupboard in the shed for the little vermin.
Someone once said that at any time you are never more than a few feet away from a rat, they must have known my boss when I was working.
I am sat in my bed typing this so I am hoping that statement is not true. :eek

We've also had mice in garage/shed this winter. Another good bait is grapes, lots of success, sometimes with a smear of peanut butter butter closely to attract them.

Remember sugar mice?, with the string tail. Can you still get them?.

They were a real treat when we were kids!.

Probably didn't do our teeth any favours tho lol.

In our old house, we got an infestation of mice and after catching about 30 in traps over 3 nights, I bought a 3 pack of the plug-in Sonic Rodent Repeller units that are supposed to drive them away.

After the first night of having them plugged in, no mice in the traps, same again after 2nd night. During the 3rd day, our neighbour told us of her sudden infestation - I got some of the Sonic Repellers for her and within 24hrs, her infestation had gone.

In the last 10 years, I've used these repellers in my garage and house and have not seen another mouse.

Same story with my mother in law's house - she had families of mice in her basement/cellar at the end of last year - "Pest Control" specialists spent 3 months taking her money, taking out dozens of mice in traps and putting down poison. But every morning, at least one trap had been triggered.

24hrs after putting 3 Sonic Repeller units in the basement/cellar on New Years Eve and a couple in the kitchen & living room (just in case they moved upstairs) - all of the traps were empty the next day and have been empty every day since.

I've been converted - I'd definitely give them a try (it's worth £15-£20 to find out IMO (B & Q have a few different types/brands).

Last year we had a buzzard fly into our patio door, and it fell to the ground unconscious. After googling what to do, and ringing the local bird sanctuary, they told me to put it in a cardboard box and bring it to them to recuperate. So I get my toughest bike gloves on, helmet, jacket ..... ALL THE GEAR, ALL THE TIME. As I bent down one eye opened, it looked at me, shrieked and focced off!  :(
I am sad, and do Geocaching, I've even been known to nip off on a LOFO day out to grab one (I go round with a GPS hunting tuppaware).  There was one cache where people were saying it was hard to get to due to too many stinging nettles.  I stopped off on the way home on the bike wearing full leathers and retrieved the cache with ease... ALL THE GEAR.......ALL THE TIME!

You do realize there's a mouse forum online somewhere, and they're all saying the same thing, "You won't believe this fella with the old car, he's a proper murdering psycho......"  :rollin

I did the same thing years ago whilst living at home we had a massive Christmas tree taller than the house and there was a cat 3/4 the way up so I too donned the gloves and helmet and it one look at this weird thing approaching muttering sh1t sh1t sh1t it just jumped, I think the wider branches below saved it.
I don't do rain or threat there of. dry rider only with no shame.

best way to remove mice and rats from your home.................................. strange but it works if you know anyone with a ferret or just go to a pet store that has them and get some of the used bedding and put some in the corners of your garage give it two days and you wont have any at all................................................................................
