General / Re: Embarassing foc up« on: 26 March 2018, 01:07:54 am »Okay so bought a MT09 and very happy with it but I have made a bit of a cock up. I believe it is not unlocked properly, try with right hand turning the key and with the left one hit the back of the seat with your fist downwards, this will make the key turn more unlocked it and the spring will open the seat. You need to push a bit more down the seat at that back and try unlocking with the key. If thay fails and your latch is stuck see here how to open it: http://www.fz09.org/forum/6-fz-09-general-discussion/10164-get-seat-off-without-key-lock-help-hahaha-3.html 34

Not to brag but when I was much younger then this lad I have managed to dig a 10 inch hole in our house external brick wall in the utility room using my house key only and collecting the dust and the rubbish in old newspapers. Unfortunately there was no youtube in 1974. Then they caught me and I learned how to fill holes with cement 35

General / Re: MT-09 or MT-10?« on: 30 September 2017, 02:01:55 am »I wondered if anyone has tried both the MT-09 and the MT-10 and could give a review or comparison of the two .I know the MT-09 is a triple and the MT-10 a four, but I was wondered about the performance and handling differences as the MT-09 is substantially cheaper. My previous bike was Fazer 600 FZS Foxeye. I've test rode 2016 all Triumphs, BMW S1000XR, S1000R, S1000RR, R1200RS, Yamaha MT10 and MT09 and I finally bought MT09. I have written it off last October and bought again MT09 Long story short: I do fairly short rides no touring. The MT10 I have tested was not SP version. SP version has more expensive suspension. Probably better. With my abilities I was so far to reach the standard MT10 suspension limits you need probably to be some very dedicated track user in order to need SP version. MT10 is a beast, probably the better all purpose road bike ever. It can do 90mph and more in first gear. The position at first is unusual you feel like you sit on the front wheel.Than you get used to it. Very sharp steering and very light bike. Standard MT10 suspension is better than my old version 2015 MT09 suspension. They changed the suspension and 2017s MT09s have improved suspension. Mines MT09 can get a little wobbly when hitting bumps in corner. You just know your limits and with little set up MT09 even older one is fine. Why I've got MT09? Because MT10 is just too much power for me. MT09 is lighter. London commute and filtering is easier on MT09. Still have more than enough power, but also do 55mpg. MT09 being a tripple has more torque in road legal speeds so easier to ride. The seat is not so hard compared to MT10. Again the MT10 hard seat is fine given the fact MT10 is a sport bike disguised as a road one. On track MT10 makes absolutely perfect sense. MT09 is more usable road bike if you stay in two digit speeds. The good news is with MT10 your front tyre will probably last forever. Seriously half of the test ride was with the front tyre airborne If you plan to live in Germany where there is no speed limit or if you do a lot of track days by all means buy MT10. Otherwise is a too much of overkill IMO. For the UK I think MT09 is the best value for money. MT09 destroys all sport bikes easy on B roads. MT10 destroys everything everywhere. Big chance here you'll lose your license. You go way over legal limits without even noticing. That was one of the decision points for me. I had a serious conversation with myself and decided to go for the half sane option: MT09 You need to test ride both. Good luck and let us know which one you got 43

I've been struggling to find one that just works, so I can embed images straight in - as Val has above. I use Flickr. Its free and has a feature you can get forum tags for sharing. The solution is don't use the phone Flickr app. Use the browser on your phone like this: Go to your web browser and browse to Flickr. When you are there chose the desktop browser option. Once it's loaded, tap and hold the Refresh icon in the URL bar and you'll see the option to "Request Desktop Site" at the bottom. There problem solved you will have now a forum share option when you see the picture from your photostream. Click share arrow: Copy/paste the BBcode tags from there here. General / Re: Downshift Blipping« on: 11 September 2017, 07:26:07 pm »
You welcome BTW it happens all the time to everybody. If you do more throttle than needed you surge forward if you do less you feel too much braking. Some guys (not me) master matching the speed and the revs to the extend that they do almost clutchless downshifts. 48
General / Downshifting how do you do it?« on: 08 September 2017, 01:57:02 pm »
When I downshift I usually go down more then one gear. For example if I am in 5th or 6th I go down straight to 3rd or even 2nd. That gives me more stopping power.
In order to not potato myself I use clutch slipping. My process for decisive slow down is, say I am in 5th: 1. A little front brake. 2. Disengage with the clutch 2. 3 down shifts to 2nd. 3. Engage back with the clutch slipping it so that the force is smooth. 4. Final front brake. I was not sure that is the right way to shift, but it works for me. I read that some guys saying they go very fast sequentially like 5th,4th,3rd,2nd gear. My thinking was I am not a pro works for me this more then one gear down thing. Then today I have watched MotoGP Petruci footwork. Big surprise I am not alone. Everybody is cheating and doing more than one gear down? http://foccerwulf.blogspot.co.uk/2017/09/petruccis-fancy-footwork-notice-he-goes.html How do you do your gear shift guys? Any tips? 49

General / Re: Things I learnt with my first car« on: 06 September 2017, 01:30:01 pm »
Here are few more car tips:
When you smoke in the car don't wear short pants. If you do a hooker avoid using the front seat if the car is on a hill. The hooker will kick the gear in neutral. If you hit an ice patch on the motorway in the winter there is not much you can do. Gentle with the steering wheel after few spins the car will stop eventually. Never go in the middle of a nowhere without a lady. If your alternator/pump belt brakes in the middle of nowhere use the lady tights as a replacement belt. Never drink drive. If you do don't ride with 10mph in the night. If a cop stop you and drop your license on the floor, the cop is so drunk he can't get the license - help him. You'll be fine. If you get out of disco in 2am and try to drive the car backwards to show off to your friends - you probably will hit a barrier in front of cops so drunk that they will don't mind it. If you are drunk and traveling on the bonnet of a car hold on tight. Same rule is valid for the car roof. I also am proud of the fact that in 40 years of motoring I have never caused nor been involved in a serious accident |
