Hey fella, I might be interested in the top box, handlebars, end can and tank bag if you can get some pictures?

This was rather neatly done

I'm going to try some black wrap around the link pipe to keep the thieving eyes away from it.

The 600 is a2 piece exhaust
So when they refer to slotting in to the link pipe is it  the tailpipe or the down pipe the cat would be pushed into

I mean, the photo that shows they've cut the pipe, inserted the cat, and rewelded it is right there in the post...

I'll be interested in seeing how you progress, I think you nabbed the Micron pipes I was eyeing up!

+1 for the fzs/vtr combo, I have both sitting here as well!

Did you happen to see what cat they installed? I need to get one fitted but buggered if I'm letting them do that to my pipe and charge that much for the pleasure!

As mentioned in my post above one way is to fit a later FZ6 link pipe, it requires some fabrication but that is fairly straightforward for any skilled fabricator.

https://www.sparesunlimited.co.uk/yamaha-fz6-fz6n-2004-2006-fz6s-2004-2005/

Or you can go the same route as Riverbank they will fit something very similar if not the very same as, they come in various sizes to suit your pipe diameter.  I've not used these, but know of people who have.  In a lot of EU countries bikes are tested for emissions and have been for years, many owners are forced to retro fit as it was country wide not just a specific city or town etc.

https://www.louis-moto.co.uk/artikel/retrofit-catalytic-converter-for-sbk-exhaust-systems/10027049

Unlike the UK where the market has concentrated on decat, link pipes etc.  This will change and at speed, as mentioned all new bikes within a few years at most, will be emission tested like cars and I think it's very possible in time any vehicle under going the standard MOT will to.

At present any vehicle over 40yrs old is exempt from MOT and VED, because they're deemed not to be variable for daily use, commuting etc.   Yes a few might still be used to commuting but the vast majority will be weekend, high days and holiday use only.

I did see a couple of cheap FZS pipes on ebay, and at first glances it looks like you'd only need to lop off the bracket to get it to fit, I imagine you'd need to weld on a stop for the centre stand too?

I've also been eyeing up those retrofit cats, but none of them seem to match up to my link pipe ID! I'll have to take the midpipe and can off and measure them again to be sure...

My 2000 FZS 600 level read 0.43, which he said was unusually high.
But after speaking to one of the staff I mentioned I cleaned my K&N air filter last week and he said that would not have helped at all and more than likely raised the level, although in the same breath he also said it wouldn't have been significant enough to make it pass.
So something to note, a dirty paper filter could actually lower your test results.

I had the Cat. fitted anyway, as i never really had much choice.
I was there about 70mins in total, which included the initial Dyno test, then having the Cat. fitted, then a retest again.
Whole lot cost £435  :'(

No power loss whatsoever, but it has changed the sound of the bike a little bit, but to be honest I like the new sound so no worries there.

I asked about how I will know when it's all well and good and was to told to download an app tomorrow called TFL DRIVE, and when I enter my Reg. Number it will state that my bike is exempt.

And finally it was pointed out to me that no bike is the same, so one bike may pass whereas another might fail, even if they are the same year and model of bike. This is due to many factors so there is no way of knowing what your bike will show up.

Made some indicators to fit onto the fairing screw on the back of the bike, looks quite tidy! I've managed to break a wire on one side, so that's tomorrow's job...

NCS have a couple of different styles of alarm, I have one on mine which is just a 2 wire job, works well for what it is, loud and sensitive. Easiest way to tell should be the remote, I believe the immobilizer models have 4 buttons whereas the 2 wire version has 3.

Replaced the seized rear caliper with a blue spot, and also treated her to a new braided hose, xjr caliper brace, and disc! Will grab a pic tomorrow after she's had a clean

A touch later than I hoped, but managed to grab a piccy between showers!

That looks more like a telescoping hiking pole than a gas strut, which makes me think you might be able to use one of those telescoping curtain poles if you can find one the right length and type?

Took her to get a new rear tyre, turns out one of the bearings is shot and the inner race is apparently seized to the spindle :(

now looking for a new set of bearings, and she'll be getting a more in depth once over as there are some other signs that the previous owner was careless with a pressure washer :(

For all-rounders, it's another vote for the pilot roads.

For dry weather or "spirited" riding, I'm a big fan of the diablo rosso's

If it would run on android, I would buy 2, just to have one as a spare :D

I'm currently contemplating making an Android version, but this pandemic has brought in more work than ever, so no time to work on it at the moment!

The interesting prospect of an android version for me is that you can use a phone for the dash to save some money...

Just a thought, you checked to see if anything is coming out of the overflow pipe?

It could be a problem with one or more of the floats sticking, so it's not building pressure and overflowing?

From what I've read on this, it looks like a pair of bolt croppers would still go through this easily, and that's the attack that they conveniently leave out of the paper...

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: Bikes died 😧☹

Well crisis seems to be averted for now. Charged the battery for a few hours and stuck it back in. Bike fired up straight away and ran fine.
The battery is knackered as after nearly 4 hours on charge it still only managed to get to 13v and after checking with the multimeter it seems to be losing charge at a rate of 0.01 every 10 seconds or so.
So new battery getting ordered and hopefully thats the end of that

check your reg/rec and stator regardless, you probably haven't fixed the problem, you can chuck fresh batteries on there all day if the bike ain't charging them!

Cheers .it has nowt BELOW 4 k . i have been running it on Profi fuel-max additive FOR OVER 300 miles . Went out this morning for a couple of hours didnt go above  3k as i think the pilot jet works to around 3/4k ?? Seems slightly better . But still has a fluff when you hold it at 3k . Maybe a good strip and clean will do the job . Cheers for the helpful info . I thought the fzs ran on the weak side that is why i was going to rejet . If they run rich as you say should be ok .I have a Zaddoz exhaust sounds cracking but took it off as i thought it was suited to the bike flat below 3k but the Scorpian isnt any better . So after clean out will put it back on .

Mate your original statement was
Quote
Going out this morning with a rev ceiling of 4 thou.

Your latest info is reverse, in which case yes this will more than likely be the pilot jets.  :)  I've never heard of Zaddoz, most cans work very well, one of the best IMHO is Quill.

It's badly written, but it runs crap under 4k, and he's gone for a ride keeping the revs under 4k to force the additive through the pilot jets.

OP, I wouldn't bother with additives myself, it may even contribute to the running issues. strip and clean the carbs and jets with carb cleaner, and go for a ride with fresh fuel, without adding your own additives.

My old man has an F100 and an F150, but, yaknow, no unnecessary travel...
