FZS600 Fazer / Re: GSXR750...
« on: 03 November 2015, 09:30:44 pm »
What a hilarious question :-).

Why not compare chalk and cheese ?

Gonna go touring in Europe, then a Fazer is the answer.

Want to go hell for leather on the track or twisties then the GSXR 750 is just a stunningly superb piece of kit.

I'll give the Suzuki stick with every breath I draw purely because it is about as chav bling as you get ....BUT.... what an awesome piece of kit.  Superb handling, superb engine.

If you do get one, the newer the better, the old K1/W versions had gearboxes made out of chocolate.  It's an immense amount of power for a 750 so look after it.  If anything goes wrong expect it to be expensive.

Anyone who wants to disagree..... you're welcome to your educate opinion over my hearsay any day of the week.

I have to admit total confusion as to why anyone would go for the two line kit instead of the 3.  The 3 line seems easier and more effective.  Is there ANY reason to go 2 line ?

Just askin, not arguin.

I find it interesting and enlightening that it was Clarkson himself that reported the incident that got him suspended.  Highly coincidental when you consider the contract renewal and the fact that if he leaves before September it could be expensive.

Follow that up with the fact that he could be nearing retirement age, doesn't like the BBC much, could walk over to Sky or ITV and make better money then it smacks of him wrecking Top gear before jumping ship.  Considering he sold it for £8,000,000.00 + it would be a sweet revenge to make the Intellectual Property worthless.

It's nice to see the mindless masses put together a petition to keep him when he is probably the one that would come out of it financially better off.

I don't like him much.

Does a deposit on a MT 09 TRACER count ?!!

If not, a AVON STORM  tyre for the FAZER

bloody good advice re : the mot :-)  :lol

Did you see Roadcraft Nottinghams video about the Tracer ?  (
) I really wanted to love the Yamaha 3 cylinder but I'm not tempted until they can make the EFI smooth as silk and the fuel tank looked a bit small too :-)...
...
...
...
Takes a lot to beat a street triple though ;-) (obviously not the same demographic as the Tracer, but it does go up against the MT09)

I forgot to add my thanks.  I put a 3 line kit on my fazer last year.  A cracking deal.  Bleeding the brakes took way longer than expected but as a newb gave me great satisfaction to get rock hard brakes.

Thanks Joe.

I know we all have a tendency to fritter a bit of money away here and there, but what was your single most recent (non-consumable) purchase relating to motorbikes ?

Mine was a pair of Gerbing G12 heated gloves which I bought whilst my bike was being MOT'd.

Top tip, get your bike MOT'd somewhere that they DON'T sell motorbike gear.  It can get expensive.

I sprayed mine.  Looked awesome for about a month and then it was manky again.  I can wholeheartedly agree with using a brush on application instead of a spray.

No restrictor kit AFAIK. The bloke doesn't think there is a restrictor fitted .

Air inlet unblocked and air filter clean.  I'm assured the fuel filter is clean/new but that's a wildcard atm..

Tps went to 10,000rpm and rotated back until it went to 5000 rpm and tightened.

« on: 18 July 2014, 03:47:37 pm »
Hiya all.  A friend of mine is having a problem with his fazer and I was wondering if anyone could diagnose the issue from the evidence I have ?

Cheers

Issue: above 6,000 rpm loss of power engine sounds like it is misfiring/rough

Tried
: coils swapped with known good
: TPS swapped with known good
: plugs swapped with known good
: ignition unit swapped with known good
: breather tubes checked
: reg/rec swapped with known good
: all electrical cables checked for corrosion

Apparently the carbs have been balanced recently although I understood that normally affected low revs..

To all intents and purposes the electrical system seems fine.  The brakes, lights, cooling system, clutch and gears work too.

Any ideas please ?

Please can anyone tell me if this is synthetic oil or not and can I use it on my fzs600 ?

I've scraped my pegs a ton of times, toe scrapers a few times but not got my knee down once.

Having seen Fuzzy's Knee down pic (http://foc-u.co.uk/index.php/topic,13799.msg155891.html) I was wondering which one tips the bike over more.  I've heard that bikes are actually more upright when doing a knee down than when staying firmly on the seat.

I've also heard that getting tourers over is harder than sports bikes so does that mean that if you can handle a sports tourer well that you'll find a sports bike easier ?

Is my educated guesswork correct ?

Cheers

Nice vids ... Good to see you postin again :-)

Thanks for the support lad.  Sometimes it's just better to keep your head down and talk to the peeps you want to but the track day was so awesome I thought it was worth the risk of sticking my head above the parapet to pass on the love :-)

Great post, wish I lived closer to a track because I recently just got free track day cover on my insurance! Cheers for the read.

Free track day cover ?!?  I'd be stunned at that.  Find a track and do it immediately !  I've not come across 1 insurer that doesn't make you bend over backwards and take it up the pooper for track day insurance.

Lucky you :-)

A very informative read, and excellent camera footage.Really enjoyed watching.Gives a really good insight on what to expect at a track day. I am considering buying a camera and have looked at the Drift range amongst others.
Have you had any problems with your camera ?

Hiya.  The Drift, in my opinion, is very good value for the money.  I believe it is definitively not as good a quality as the gopro but it has many better features.  These are:

  • The ability to turn the lense around to an arbitrary position
  • The fact that it looks better mounted compared to the go pro
  • Much cheaper
The battery life on mine is appalling though and whilst I know a number of people who have bought a stock pile of batteries, my option of keeping it on the fairing resolves a few issues.  These are:
  • The Mini USB plug that I use for my satnav can just be plugged in to the camera giving it a permanent supply
  • You can't see the speedo, which simplifies youtube and police hassles.
Mine is the 1080P and I've heard better and worse things about both Gopros and Drifts.  My advice is to get a cheap one and if you like it, stick that on the back and invest in a more expensive one of the same type.  The Ghosts and all the cutting edge cameras are massively overpriced IMO.

Buy what makes you happy and ride safe :-)

Hi all.  I've been looking forward to this for weeks like a fly on roadkill.  But yesterday and today has proven that I am infected with germs of the worst kind from my virulent 4yr old.

I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy never mind any Foccers so I'm going to bow out :-(.

Have fun peeps, the roads and route is awesome and goes right past my house :-(

I'll be thinking of ya all.  If anyone wants to risk it and pop by for a cuppa PM me and we'll arrange something.

Take care and keep it shiny side up.

This looks very plausible for me, it's a good route and there is a nice/nasty hairpin (for me anyhow) at http://goo.gl/8vyI2e  :-).  My favourite route is this one: https://goo.gl/maps/474jY
