Front end all put back together and now with nice shiny clean headlights which has made them that little bit brighter which was the result I was going for.
Not riding it to work today as as my mate has let be continue borrowing his MT-09 for another day, problem is that I don't want to give it back as its such an awesome fun bike, it's just so quick, light & flickable  :lol 8) :lol

Stripped the front end down in order to try and cleanup the headlights as they were covered in dusty crap on the inside. I wish I hadn't bothered now as the brackets that hold the unit were broken so I'm having a nightmare sticking them back together plus the front cover of the unit was completely glued in all around so it took me hours cutting through so I could just lift the front off. Because it was getting on my tits so much I've just left it in pieces for the moment until I can get back to it, problem is that it now means it's off the road again, but my buddy across the road has kindly let me borrow his MT-09 for the week so that has cheered me right up  :lol

Not something i would wanna try, but people on here have put the light unit in the oven before to soften up the glue you're on about, then separate it with a screwdriver.

https://youtu.be/ZIG3OQB7xz0

I would have heated the glue to soften it but it was that type of glue that dries like cement and no amount of heat was going to budge it. Managed to get it apart with minimal damage around the edges  :lol I'm glad I did do it now as you know that domb thing that goes over the bulb, it was hanging off and could have caused some problems if it had come off completely. going to get it all put back together tonight after work, but until then I'm enjoying borrowing my mates MT-09  :lol

added update: The bike is definatly running better than normal now, my ride into work this morning on this bright sunny day really showed that as the power was flowing through so well I was actually struggling to keep the front wheel down  :lol

If I could I would have a fleet of different bikes, but unfortunatly I just do not have the room as even 2 bikes would be a very tight squeeze in my garage. For a short period of time I did have 2 bikes and it was such hard work trying to get a bike out and even put away in an evening and as I ride everyday I just didn't need the extra hassle  :lol

I don't want to sell the  :faz as like I say I love my red boxeye beast as it's just such a nice ride, but I know there will come a time that it will have to go as I do really wan't a bigger CC bike. Maybe my mate accross the road will trade his MT-09 for it as he said to me that he prefers smaller bikes since pootling about on his girlfriends Van Van, it means I would still get to see and maybe go for a blast on the  :faz from time to time. I test rode his MT-09 the other day and well it felt as nice a ride as the  :faz but with that little extra poke that I'm looking for  :D

it is very frustrating as where things keep going wrong it's making me wonder if I should trade it in for something newer, but I'm finding it very difficult to pursuade the wife to let me get an MT-10  :lol plus I don't really want to get rid of it as I love my  :faz it's such a cracking beast.

Book to follow  ;) ........hope it solves your problem .

Will it be published by Haynes as I can get discount then as they recently bought the company I work for  :lol

Problem seems to be sorted after fitting the new Regulator Rectifier, rode it to work this morning and all fingers crossed seems fine and back to normal if not slightly better than before  :thumbup

Update:

Fitted the new spark plugs, air filter & fuel filter and the problem got better but didn't go away completely, so spoke to my mate again and he told me (after confirming his thoughts with my other mate who I bought the bike from) that they recon it needs a new regulator rectifier, so found a new one on eBay for just under £40, it arrived today so I swapped out the old one and just got back from test riding and so far the problem has completely gone. So I'm now a happy bunny again.

Thanks everyone for all your helpful advice.

Crack on red98 as all and any funds I had to buy parts like this have been snapped up after having to pay out for repair parts as my bike has been having some problems plus while we were on our holiday some asshole has crashed something into the front offside corner of our brand new car so I now have to fork out to get that repaired.

39
Cheers buddy, what sort of price are you looking for them?

I will check it again at the end of the week like you suggested as I can do it at the same time as when I fit the new plugs and air filter 👍

TPS should read 5K.
If it reads 0 or 10K it needs adjusting

It was showing 10k but I have now adjusted it so it's reading 5k but the problem is still there, I've just ordered a service kit for about £50 from wemoto that contains all new air filter, oil filter, fuel filter, 4 spark plugs and sump plug washer. It was cheaper to do that rather than just buy plugs & air filter as I would need to buy the oil filter stuff later on any way for when I do the next oil change.

TPS was out as so I adjusted. Problem still there. Just had a mate pop over who heard the problem I was having and he thinks it would be worth changing the plugs and air filter as they are at the mileage range where they should be changed and although the plugs look fine they may well be breaking down especially as at higher revs where the problem is, he also pointed out that the air filter is not as clean as I thought it was. So going to order those parts and if still no joy I'll go through what you have listed to check Gnasher.

Thanks for all the help and advice, I'm calling it a day as it's getting on my tits plus I can't do anything until I get the parts. I'll keep you all posted on the progress 😁👍

I've got a few T25 Torx Allen bits but not security ones so I might try drilling a little hole in one of them so it will fit.

Looks like my Sunday is going to be another day in the garage 😁

You can simply use a punch or similar to snap off the central pin and use the Torx bit as is.

didn't think of that as I thought they were designed to be strong enough to not be tampered with in that way.

All 4 cylinders are firing as I did test them just as you stated, plugs looked good slight burnt residue as to be exspected and the plugs and leads were only just changed a few months ago. I had been checking through the mechanical side of things to the best of my mechanical knowledge as I know less about electronics than I do about mechanics  :lol  fuel lines are flowing fine as I connected up some clear piping that I had and you can see the petrol getting sucked through with no gaps. From what darrsi has said and from what I've read in general online it does sound like a faulty TPS is a strong culprit, but don't worry I will be testing before I buy a new one as I'm not spending money on something I don't need 😁

Cheers buddy I didn't think about evilbay  :evil  everywhere that was showing results using google were asking for near the £200 mark so I started to crap myself worrying that this could be a chuffing expensive repair.

Where did you get the new TPS from? as I tried searching on wemoto where I get most of my parts from but no results there.

Cheers buddy, I was struggling to understand what my Haynes manual was going on about  :lol  it doesn't help as they mix 2 different bikes into each chapter.
