« on: 22 February 2016, 03:28:50 am »
Can't find a suitable cycle filter for my fazer, now I'm using a HONDA Accord car oil filter on it, will it be a problem? the oil pressure or the filting abilitty?

The important issue for a filter beside filtering is the flow rate, to low a flow rate and the oil will not circulate properly due to restriction in the filter and cause problems
Used to be a big problem back in the CB750 and CBX1000 days as the filters looked exactly the same but the CBX specific one was a free flowing filter.
Same appl;ied to 1980 Toyotas when the Ford Motorcraft filter looked exactly, but had a lower flow rate.

As I do not know the Flow rate of this filter I could not answer the question, but your bike will take the same filter from the FZS1000 and the XJR400.

The HiFlo filter I used for the 400s was the HF303 and should be easily available

:agree

I thought the 400 used the same filter as the 600.

Deefer or ChristoT are the ones to confirm this.

It will fit, but the correct one is as stated above, the 400 does not have a water cooled oil cooler

what if the auto filter flow rate is higher than the original one, will the oil circulate correctly? I've notice that auto oil filter is far more cheaper than the bike oil filter. ;)

Is the higher flow due to less filtration? :rolleyes To many unknowns for me.

I personally would not use a car filter unless I knew they were exactly the same.

Either way, it is your decision and your bike.   :)

:agree  Is it worth it for the sake of a few quid?
