OE one has big foc off nylon insert.  I assume that absorbs vibration and noise.

Yes the renthal is noisy, wind noise, free flow exhaust etc, and all I can hear is the chain and sprocket noise.

Nae drive chain noise with the OE sprocket.

Mines been rattling for years.
Rattle started a few years back when the valve got stuck in the bush, which of course is stuck in the end cover as they usually are.  I tried to hammer it out, which didn't help, I just started spreading the end.  I had to take it into work and get it pressed out.  So ever since then there's been a bit of a rattle.  It still works fine several years later, and eventually you don't really notice the rattle.

Oh are you sure that chain is equivalent to OE spec Pit?

DID ZVM chain is usually over 100 quid alone.

I found the renthal sprocket very noisy compared to OE, but you eventually get used to it.

I do like to check the front sprocket every year.  Ever since I discovered I was riding about for 100's of miles with little holding on the sprocket on my Fazer600 other than chain tension and the cover plate.  I did go a little pale when I removed that cover.

Threads were totally gone and the nut was just happily bouncing about.

Much more comfortable and it looks much much better too.

I fitted philips extreme lamps H4 (for gen1) 80% brighter than standard halogen.  You can see the difference, very worthwhile wee upgrade.

I think they are now 100% brighter than standard.

100/90 lamps won't be road legal, and yup could overload your wiring and the heat could cook your headlamp reflector and housing.

I'm happy with my philips extreme H4 60/55's.

VNA, they could still have announced a strike to start in 7 days and do the negotiations in teh interveneing time :pokefun

It's all about overtime!

Strike action is not called until negotiations have failed.  Strike action is a last resort, and frankly nobody wants to go out on strike.  But sure, if Monday's negotiations break down with no hope of a settlement , then yes a strike will be called, but that means due to anti-union strike laws that there is still time left for employers to come back to the table (or 7 days to put in place contingency plans).

Trust me, the last thing you want to do is strike, if you do strike you certainly don't want to have to give 7 days notice of doing so.

As for OT, yes the government is doing an absolutely brilliant job of creating overtime for the drivers.

a load of my mates reckon its not an own goal by the Tories at all, but a deliberate ploy to get people attention away from the budget.

You could be right.  Even making a total James Hunt of yourself is preferable to talking about that budget.   However I'm not sure how long the Tories will want to play this one out for.  Play with petrol and well, lets not go there just now, but a settlement sometime next week and some new news stories would be perfect for the Tories.  I'm sure Tory spin doctors will doing even more OT than the drivers.

On top of all that, they have said there will be no strike over Easter. Why? Becasue if they did they would lose all the time & half and double time payments for working. They win all round.

No becuase UNITE is sitting down with ACASS on Monday.  In other words negotiations are ongoing.  As such it's no longer legally possible to call an official strike over Easter due to the 7 days notice legal requirement.

Well they're now allowed to do 2 more per day!

Because otherwise the country would grind to a halt  thanks to the governments rather silly advice.  But I still think the crazy Tories would rather look like goons over this than discuss their budget.

That's the rest and be thankful as viewed from Ben Arthur.
I've not cycled that road, but I doubt it would be much fun.
Quite narrow and a lot of fast traffic.

The scariest day I ever had cycling was riding down through Glencoe.  And I had it good, heading south with a north tail wind, I was moving quite quick but it was still scary as hell.  Ended up on my arse at one point due to a tanker that cut in on me.

Negotiations continue, no strike date has been announced.  7 days notice must be given by law.

I think the message is clear, Cameron wants a strike.  And he's desperate to move the media on from the budget.

Job done.

Kinda failing to mention it's roasting up here at the mo....

It's unbelievable.  I jumped on the bike this morning, popped up to Wemyss Bay and took the ferry to Bute.  I rode down to Kilchattan Bay and did the walk round the coast, past St Blanes Church and back over to Kilchatten.   It was really quite warm, any warmer and it would be too warm fae walking fae me.  I can't remember it ever being this warm in March before.

This is late March last year, heading towards Beinn Ime;

Yup my front sprocket was not exactly tight.  I put the new un on with a bit of locktite.

One thing I noticed was the big increase in noise going from the OE sprocket to a renthal.   Took a good while to get used to it.

Dunno how much the stealers want for the OE sprocket though.

I decided to pop my radiator off and paint it and the grill.
So needed some paint and anti-freeze.

Needed some paint quickly so bought it in Halfords (ouch!)

I looked at their long life anti-freeze, 2ltrs for 14 quid.

I popped round the corner to the VW dealer and bought 1.5ltrs for 8 quid.

Skoda are Czech... VW don't get involved beyond financing them, and they get a bit touchy about it...

VW supplies the chassis and running gear.

Octavia is based on the VW golf.  So you get a golf chassis and engines.  Much roomier car than a golf however.

But yes it's basically a German car with a Czech body and styling.

There's a good chance an Octavia will replace my ageing boring Bora when the time comes.  Would love the petrol VRSi but considering the price of fuel it'll probably be the diesel job.  Nice cars.

Yup I use the same thing on the bike as ghostbiker, works a treat.

In the past I have hammered a screw driver through and used that to turn the filter.

That used to be the way I got em all off.  Till I bought a 3 year old VW Bora with 6000 miles on the clock.  Don't think it had ever had an oil and filter change.  The dealer gave it a 'service' before I picked it up.  But I reckon they just sucked the oil out and stuck some fresh stuff in, either that or the apprentice stuck the filter on and torqued it to buggery.

But anyway, stuck my screwdriver through it and it started opening up like a tin of sardines.  Eventually got the remains of the filter off with one of these - http://http://www.drapertools.com/b2c/b2citmdsp.pgm?pp_skmno=37871&ipadd=    Great if you can get em in.

Was lucky, thought I would have to remove the oil cooler to get the filter off.

Never stuck a screwdriver through an oil filter since.

So I make it that a bank boss, on say a million a year (not including bonuses) is now 42,500 quid a year better off.

And according to Osborne, if he didn't the big bosses their big tax cut they would up sticks and move abroad.  1.  Aye right and 2. Who cares.
