Yes that’s true. Is there a significant risk involved in buying such low mileage bike?

I did give up on that fazer in the end. But now I see this from superbike factory

2009 with only 4500 miles on it. Did phone them up and there is only one stamp in a service book at 506 miles.
The bike is 9 years old and had just one service, is it something that would bother you at all?

Thank you, all clear now
Sorry about all these questions, I am quite new to fz6 world (used to own fzs600 few years back though), for the past 3 years I have owned and enjoyed gsxr1000 k3 (will be part exchanging it), so all your help and answers are indeed much appreciated!

Thanks for the links!  So they all are 98bhp? That I did not know!
Now I am a lilltle confused as to a ‘normal’ fz6 or a s2 version. The bike from ebay is on 06 plates but has black engine and frame? I know it is not an s2 by looking at the clocks and brake calipers, well what is is then? Is it pure aesthetics or some advanced version of the 04 model although not quite s2 yet?

No I haven’t bought it yet just put small deposit for them to hold the bike for me until I am able to come round and have a look (in a weeks time).

Excuse my ignorance but but do you mean by inferior? I know it’s not s2 but still the 98bhp version isn’t it? Or am I wrong?

They probably meant that very good condition apart from the damage caused by that incident. Yes, I can see grab handles, crashbung and obviously the fairing. There is one thing that worries me though if you look closely at the oil filter you can clearly see that the bolt is all rusty? To me it means that oil has not been changed for a while but maybe that’s just me. The rest of the bike looks quite well tbh.
Finally, is this the right price for this bike? Providing everything else is in order, would you pay 2k for it?

General / Re: What size top box for a fzs600?
« on: 20 February 2014, 07:07:30 pm »
I've had a few different size boxes over the years (ooh-er missus!)

Had a 29 litre on my tdm which was as much use as mudflaps on a tortoise! You can just about fit one lid and a pair of gloves, that's it! Got a 35 on my thundercat, and for me that's ample, but again, only one lid and a few bits n pieces.

My last fazer had a 45 litre Spada which was huge, and 2 lids could fit.
It all depends on what you want it for, personally I'd go for a 40, any bigger and you find yourself putting loads of crap in it, and risk overloading the rack.
That's exactly what iv been thinking, to go no bigger than say 38-40l. I only need it for an occasional trip out really, so space needed only for one helmet and few bits and bobs.

General / What size top box for a fzs600?
« on: 20 February 2014, 05:22:55 pm »
Hi all, I have decided to put a top box on my fazer but have one question with regards to size of the top box, I would be happy if I could fit one full face helmet in it plus some tools. Have been looking at 51l but looks huge imo.
What sizes of top boxes have you guys got on your machines? Many thanks!

« on: 04 January 2014, 01:35:52 pm »
Besides I think that it's only the excessive that get burnt off because even after a long run pipes feel a bit slimy, like there was still some acf left on them. I am not saying it is the best solution, all I am saying is that I have been using acf on all my bikes and never had any issues with rust (at least on those most crucial areas).

It has from the point I put it on to the point I started the engine, right? Which in my case could be a week or two

General / Re: ACF50 - Not Convinced?

What I don't like about acf50 is that if I put on downpipes they smoke and stink until acf burns off, but at least it does the job

General / Re: ACF50 - Not Convinced?

I just spray it on a rag and then wipe the bike

I use WD 40 chain wax, very good if you are riding in wet.
