For Sale & Wanted / Yamaha YISS key (blank, uncoded) for sale
« on: 08 April 2019, 11:51:00 am »
Hi all, recently I lost a key for my Tracer and after many days of searching admitted defeat and ordered a replacement from my local dealer. Guess what? Sod's law prevailed, the lost key was found (like, two days after I re-ordered! Grrrr!)and the dealer declined to cancel the order as it was a "special" (Grrrr! again). So - I have £49 quid's worth of blank (uncut, uncoded) chipped key. still in its packing. with original receipt. To you sir, £40 with free and quick delivery anywhere mainland UK (Yamaha UK took over a week to send this out) all you need to then do is nip to your dealer with the red key to get the new one cut and coded. Part no 5SL-82511-08 and should fit any current / recent YISS equipped Yamaha but a quick call to your local parts bloke will confirm. If this ad is still up then the key is still available. Tell your mates.....

General / Earplugs
« on: 18 April 2018, 10:58:39 pm »
Apologies if this topic has already been covered / done to death but...
I have just spent 15 minutes digging around to remove a pinlock earplug that got "lost" (jammed) down my ear canal. They're for the bin, waste of 20 quid. At home, 'cos Mrs Wharfe snores like a seal colony, I use E.A.R. foam  plugs, but under a helmet they feel a bit bulky, despite doing the trick adequately well and not getting lost. And being dirt cheap if bought in bulk.
My question - does anyone have a cheap effective alternative to disposable foam plugs? I'm not fagged to go down the route of bespoke moulded plugs as they're expensive and I'll only lose them.
Your thorts please ladies n gents....

General / A mouse ate my bike! (Well sort of...)
« on: 05 November 2017, 02:12:25 pm »
So, my other bike is a 16 plate Tracer (and yes, I love it).
On Friday, noticing that the bike was running lumpy at low revs with a very erratic idle, and unable to establish any obvious cause I took it off to my local Yamaha dealer to do the necessary (it's still warrantied so i was hopeful that this would be a nil-cost visit (fat chance as it turned out). The diagnostics computer revealed nowt wrong so, as the guy said, "it's down to spanners and spotting to find whatever's broken, fallen off or whatever". After considerable spanner action in their workshops the cause turned out to be vermin (mice probably) damage to two of the three vacuum ports (or more specifically the rubber bungs that sit on top of them). The scottoiler vacuum valve atop the third was not to Pixie and Dixie's* taste apparently.... 3.5 hours of labour charges those b%st%rtd mice cost me as obviously this was NOT covered under warranty! "Oooh I hate those meeces to pieces!"*So Foc-er's, take care this time of year, the little blighters are coming into warm places (like the top of your engine in your garage), they're hungry and they'll chew all sorts. You have been warned. Here at Wharfe mansions it's mousetraps all round. Now I'm a buddhist kinda guy, don't eat meat, don't like killing anything if at all possible, but my garage is now a free-fire zone for anything that moves..... *kids, ask your parents about the old HannaBarbera cartoon "Pixie and Dixie and Mr Jinks"....Crap that passed for entertainment in the 70's..

I took this off my '03 Fazer bought recently as I manage well enough on my commute with a daysack.

It's all in good order, the box has no scuffs or marks of any note, and the metalwork is in good order too. inevitably the "pin" at the rear that locks into the box has lost it's paintwork, otherwise it's all good. All fixings, two keys and the original manual included.

Given that this lot, new, is close to £200 on t'bay, £100 gets it. Not keen to split this (unless I get interested parties for box and rails obvs)
I'd prefer you collected, though we can maybe negotiate a meet if not too far,  I'm in Ilkley (LS29) but work in Elland (HX5) and sometimes Ripon (HG4). Otherwise I'll work out a rate for postage.

Photos on request if you're interested (meanwhile I'll try and figure how to upload some...)

Cheers!

General / Anyone here live in Hull?
« on: 04 December 2016, 06:04:27 pm »
....or if not, does anyone know of a  backstreet bike bodywork / paint place, manned by a guy called Paul, off Newland Avenue (opposite Lloyds bank IIR)  in Hull?  I lost his number, can't find him on T'interweb, and need his services again. I'd like to know he's still trading at least before making the journey....

Introduction / Hi From West Yorkshire
« on: 22 November 2016, 07:48:29 pm »
Evening all, hi there from a Noob in West Yorkshire (Ilkley to be exact). I just bought me a foxeye Fazer, absolutely delighted as my first big bike back in 2001 was a Fazer, got rid LONG before I explored its full potential so really looking forward to playing with one again. If the f***ing rain eases off for long enough, all our roads are flooded right now....
