Introduction / Back into the fold
« on: 20 August 2018, 01:05:49 pm »
Hey all

After an absence of a few years from the world of Fazer after selling my wee 600 I am happy to report that I am once again a Fazer owner in the shape of a 2003 Gen 1 Fazer 1000!!

Pics to follow when I work out how. Higher milage at 57k but in really good condition and has had a lot of time and effort spent on her by the previous owner including the full monty ivans kit, uprated suspension, luggage, comfort seat, elcetrical amp gauge and gear indicator thingy (dead technical me) and much more

look forward to seeing the Scottish contingent out and about

Cheers
Mark

« on: 04 April 2015, 12:45:48 pm »

Up for sale is my lovely 2001 fzs600 Fazer in the S trim
cracking bike and only selling as I need a more touring type bike for some long distance trips coming up.
lots of extras including :
R6 shock conversion which is superb and less than 1000 miles from new
full stainless exhaust system
30mm bar risers as I am tall but easy to remove
double bubble screen
radiator cover
hugger
Michelin PR3 tires 700 miles ago so almost brand new and best tires I have had on any bike :)
chain and sprockets changed about 1000 miles ago so again almost new
new brake pads all round striped rear caliper with new internal seals etc
rennteck rack (the top box plate is NOT included)
braided lines with fresh fluids when pads done
new fork oil and seals
bike will be getting full years MOT from wednesday 8th April but still has current one
also will do oil and filter in next day or so
mileage may go up a bit as I use it for work as well as play and is just under 30k. She runs beautifully and uses no oil or coolant apart from what is in her.
Looking for £1700 ono but no daft offers please it is a great bike that needs nothing and it ready to go.

Bike is in Kinross, Scotland.
Test ride welcome with cash and insurance. you bin it you buy it :)
Thanks for looking

FZS600 Fazer / k&n filter vibe issue
« on: 22 March 2015, 07:12:36 am »
Ok so i changed out the air filter from standard to k&n And it has made the bike really vibey. Always has the 6k buzz but now get vibes all thru the range. Any ideas why?
Wondered if it had made mixtures too lean but no idea if that would cause the vibes? Def increased acceleration so would like to keep it but making it uncomfortable to ride.
Any thoughts?

General / what other end cans fit fzs600?
« on: 07 March 2015, 03:40:01 pm »
As above,i am wondering if an end can from something else will fit my boxeye? Can't find a cheap road legal second hand one on fleabag so wondered if I can widen search. Would a thundercat be the same?

FZS600 Fazer / metallic tape for exhaust bling
« on: 18 February 2015, 02:22:06 pm »
Hi all, my end can has nfr use on it and I was wondering if anyone knows of what type of tape or sticker would cover it safely. For some reason it is written in between the rivet strap at the back of the can so wondered if I could wrap it as MOT man says what the can't see don't hurt ;-)
Can not loud so not problem there just don't want any issues with it if I get stopped for anything

Bike is so yellow and black so something that looks OK with that would be good.
Thanks
Mark

FZS600 Fazer / end can choices
« on: 18 October 2014, 02:49:00 pm »
Afternoon all
Am thinking of replacing the end can on the fazer  and wondered if anyone has used or heard of  delkevic or simmi exhausts? Both look similar spec and only after a standard round stainless so prices are almost the same too but no idea if they are quality ornot ?
Simmi says lifetime guarantee, delkevic 12 months. Any thoughts are welcome. Have stainless system on just now but not legal end can :O

FZS600 Fazer / exhaust query
« on: 11 October 2014, 11:48:25 am »
Hi all. My fzs600 has a full stainless system on it, un-named but has not for road use stamped on the can. sounds lovely and have no plans to change it out but for MOT time i was thinking of getting a standard can put on :P
will the standard link pipe and can fit to the stainless pipes? I know it might be a try it and see but don't want to buy one to find it doesn't fit
thanks

General / Tires...is it me?
« on: 08 September 2014, 09:17:00 pm »
Hey all just a wee query on longevity really. I see alot of peeps saying they get 10k plus on tires and wondered WTF am I doing wrong then. I put conti road attack 2 on the bike when I get her a couple months back and like them apart from wet where they have felt a bit slidy once or twice but nothing major...anywhoo with 2.5k miles done the rear is squared and cant see it lasting much beyond another 1k tbh. I use the bike to commute 40 miles a day some motorway the rest twisty and while i am no rossi i don't hang about either and finally have a bike with no chicken strips left :)
The road attacks are sposed to be sports tour type so was expecting more milage and will prob change to something else when I change em but I got a smaller capacity bike to save on stuff like this...I got more on my firestorm and that is a tire muncher! Am i too heavy  handed or just not good tire?

as per sods law the weather chooses to break tomorrow and we will literally be riding just ahead of major rain, don't ask about sunday for coming home!

will be good anyway just for the alpine pass bit if nothing else. still hope rain holds off too :P

Kinross to Applecross and back....wooohoooo

FZS600 Fazer / dipped beam bulb
« on: 18 June 2014, 08:33:21 pm »
ok so how come the bulb for the left dipped beam is a weird thin thing and where do I get a new one from?

went to replace it as not working and was faced with 2 prong thin bulb in an x shaped holder thing. ebay only has standard bulbs so a bit lost unless i try a dealer?

General / major tight spot on chain
« on: 15 June 2014, 04:46:41 pm »
chain and sprockets been replaced on bike recently (before i got it) and the chain has major tight spot. don't think it saw any lube and was pretty bad on way home after i bought it. Was ok on test ride couple of days earlier but was wet so think it buggered it a bit more.
anyhoo spent couple of hours the other day working each link free with chain lube in each one, that was fun, and seemed to sort it and was running free. short run and was ok, readjusted the chain as moved a bit after lube. Job done i thought.

well ride out today and its back, almost no flex in chain at one area, roll in on and has 35-40mm as should. Should i redo it again or bite the bullet and get a new chain. was a did 530vm so not cheap shite. sprockets look as new so would prob keep them unless they are also part of the problem tho don't know how.

your thoughts are much appreciated :)

FZS600 Fazer / rattle on tick over until clutch pulled
« on: 14 June 2014, 09:49:28 pm »
Hi all been fettling the new girl and noticed that she is quite rattly on tick over until I pull clutch and  then goes quiet.
Could this be cam chain tensioner? Thought that would continue clutch in or out but not sure
Is it normal or do I need to poke about in the clutch?

On plus side new conti road attack 2 tyres on today and feel nice but will run in tomorrow :-)  also new ebc hh pads at front as old ones had about a mm left :-\  tried to replace sprocket but with 12 mm but looks like a two man job as just turns motor over with breaker bar.... Still least it means old one won't come off anytime soon
Cheers

General / back in the fold but not quite as expected

General / fzs600 vs fzs1000
« on: 14 May 2014, 10:02:16 pm »
ok so looking at the stats on the two bikes it got me wondering if the 600 wasn't far off the 1000 it terms of power to weight ratio.
the 600 is about 20kgs lighter and 95bhp aint to be sniffed at but are they really that different on the road?
Had a 1000 before and have had large capacity bike for a while (zrx1200, bandit 12, firestorm the noo) would i get on with a 600 or would i miss the power too much?
I am now using the bike to commute about 20 miles each way and the 600 def better on fuel but I wonder if the fun factor would be missing?
your thoughts ladies and gentlemen please :)
