FZS600 Fazer / Clutch knock
« on: 06 June 2013, 01:57:04 am »
Hi guys, Just wondering if the knocking from my clutch is normal. When riding around and come to a halt, I take it out of gear and release the clutch and it gives a knocking noise until i pull the clutch back in.

When first firing up (stationary), i find the noise will only come when i clutch-in, select 1st, Back to neutral then release the clutch again.  :\

I have just swapped the engine, the new one is a 14k minter that has no rattles or knocks (apart from this), The old engine did it too, but i cant make my mind up if this new engine is worse?

Can't think of anything other than the release bearing in my head. Or are these bikes just like this?

Cheers,
Tom

FZS600 Fazer / Re: R1 Wheels
« on: 01 June 2013, 12:23:23 am »
Plan on fitting a Digital speedo with a pick up sensor for the front wheel. Simples.
The only problem is, they are quite vulgar and a bit too bling. www.digitalspeedos.co.uk

BTW, i checked the part number, Fazer dics wont fit r1 front wheel.. Shame, More expense.

FZS600 Fazer / R1 Wheels
« on: 31 May 2013, 11:37:18 pm »
Wondering if anyone had any experience with fitting other wheels to the Fzs. I am doing an R1 Usd font end conversion (waiting for the forks to be delivered), so the front is no problem.
I was going to fit a thunderace rear wheel for the 180 tire option, But would an R1 rear wheel fit/line up? (with the right bearing for the spindle ect) 98 boxeye and '98 r1 wheel.

The reason  ask, instead of just doing the thunderace wheel is. I don't have the R1 front wheel yet, and most decent ones on ebay are in pairs.

Cheers,
Tom

EDIT: Anybody know if the disc's of the Fazer front wheel will fit the R1 rim?

Exactly, Coils are contained inside the 'Sticks' which are also the spark plug holder. No more crusty H.T leads.  ;)

FZS600 Fazer / Stick coil mod
« on: 26 May 2013, 01:08:53 am »
For anyone wanting to get rid of crusty old HT leads or Knackered coils, This is for you  :)

Did this mod today. Nothing in particular wrong with my coils, the HT's were just stiff, Cracked and oxidised at the end.
Simple enough, Coils used are 636r ninja (unsure on the year).

Standard coils read 2.5ohm's (YMMV)
636 read 1.3ohm's (Will obviously double up to 2.6ohm's in a pair)

Very simple Simple loom, Just 2 pairs wired up in series, Drew up a little diagram.

Installed:

Hope this helps.

All the best,
Tom

Hi guy, New to the forum with a '98 Fzs 'Fazer', Hehe, i should probably start to use a new name. Had the bike for about 2 month now, and Already got ideas on modifying it!  8)

Just swapped the engine as the studs had broken off mine. (overkill, but it was a rattly old thing anyway, New one is lurvverly and tight.)

Old left, new right.

Also, Done a stick Coil mod.. Will post this in its own thread soon.

Not sure if it has been done yet, but In the near future i plan on converting to an R1 front end  ;)

All the best,
Tom
