Daytime Running Lights - Show me yours
« on: 27 April 2013, 10:15:16 pm »
Looking at mounting some extra lights on somewhere, would like to ride daytime without headlights if possible. My short journey to work and back isn't giving the battery long enough to charge.

My original idea was these

but with them being 1.8cm wide and the lip under the headlight only being big enough for 1cm im back to the drawing board.
thinking of mounting something under the fairing or using the bolt holes the original brake lines mounted too between the forks.

so lets see what you got, where its mounted, cost etc

I've got those on the front of my fairing, wired up to my indicators, there's a video of them on this forum somewhere!

"....My short journey to work and back isn't giving the battery long enough to charge...."

How short is your journey to work, i only do just under 6 miles and have never had a battery issue?

Cheap & easy~10w halogen wedges in your sidelights?

Available here: (for instance)

Check your battery/charging circuit also?, i can't believe headlights on should be an issue even for short journeys.

Pull 3 watts each which is less than the 5 watts the side light uses.  I'm sure Darrsi or one of the other knowledgeable ones will correct me if I've fooked up on my logic.
Opinions are like A**holes, Everyone has one.  Some people seem to have more than one though which is a bit odd.

Going to get some of these and have a play about with them:

http://www.bikevis.com/motorcycle-led-running-lights.html

Seem small and affective either mount them either side below the indicators or where the indicators are and get a set of mirrors with the indicators in them,

I had some blown bulbs from bikvis. One side light and one bullet light. They sent me replacements straight away and have had no further faults.

Just fitted a pair of bullets! Very bright and much brighter than in the pics, have not taken the bike out to see how the do in the daylight but hoping they would catch other motorists eyes...

They are the the version 1's aswell in the discounted section (didn't realise this till after ordering them) but they are very bright an the version 2's would be blinding,

The previous owner had heated grips fitted so I tapped off the live from them but I'm sure they come off the front brake light switch,

So as soon as the ignition is on the lights are on, I wanted to wire them so they come on after the engine starts but as they only draw a few watts I wasn't that bothered,
