Valencia GP 7-9 Nov 2014
« on: 11 May 2014, 09:10:31 pm »
OK some of you may recall my better half 'agreed' once I had finished the barn conversion I has a 'free pass' to the last GP of the season, Valencia.  This was based on the premise that completion would be sometime (latest) summer 2007 so an appropriate treat for my hard work.  In reality it was definitely going to be done for Xmas 2011, OK absolutely definitely no question complete by Xmas 2012 (not), but eventually completed for Xmas 2013 (Whahey).

So here I am, carried over holiday, fuckin loaded etc.

I am going to Valencia for the GP this year - if it's by mesel then fine but preferably with some Foc-u 'soul mates'.

Last ferry to Santander/Bilbao is 01/02 Nov (return in May 2015) so this not really an option (maybe for Ewan McGregor) so this will be a though France/minimum fckin about (ok we will have beers) trip until we get to Cheste.  3k +mile round trip from Yorkshire.

I'm suggesting (thinking aloud) ride to Dover Tues 4-Nov pm - B&B then early ferry Wed 5-Nov - overnight in France To get to Cheste Fri - set off back Mon 10 back for work Thur 13 (or maybe Weds 11 if you live in Dover).

Join now!

Oh I should have said old farts are welcome but not those that smell, ride or drink like old farts.

Not that I expect that many takers but no more than six sounds right.

Hmm, I fancy this Moff, but not sure I'd get any time off around those dates. I'll find out and get back to you

Sounds like you will have fun boys, i would like to go there again,,as long as its sunny ,,i was when i went but some years its shitty :'(

When i went i weighed up the options and went this way
1= flew Easy jet (Madrid) £45.00 return = yes indeed it was cheap..off season see.
2= found a cheap hotel for the night,,
3= Next day picked up a hire bike, pre arranged on t web. :)  £260.00 for 5 days inc insurance
4= Stayed B and B up in the mountains,,nice little village (certainly no partying :'( ) not even speako Enleesh, amazing ride down the mountains every morning and back.
5=3 nights b and b and evening meals,( dont know what i ate,,coulnt read menu,,nor dey understand :lol  130 euro's

And back again,,brilliant trip,,about 300 miles i think from madrid to Cheste.

I spoke to lots of English bikers there who were dreading the next day after the race,,1000 miles back to ferry north Spain then 2 days on ferry if i remember correct.

If i went again i would still do this.

Sounds ideal, could then use the week before the race to sample what Spain has to offer in way of rideouts instead of belting it through France to make it in time  :)

ooh, hell ,,i havean old laptop to find, the contact emails are on there,,

otherwise,,get googleing,,prices may be a bit up by now but add 300 quids worth of petrol and stops going down,,it saved alot of time,

we are riding to Brno this year,,they twisted my arm,,i wanted to fly drive(hire a bike ) for this one..

i have a look.

At the moment the return flight from Luton is £67.00 :)

4 days rental = 408 euros,,what ever that is in pounds,,oh i found it = £333.00,,you would use nearly that in fuel  :)
http://www.2wheeltravel.com/Motorcycle%20Hire/spainhire.htm  a really nice bloke,,speaks good english,,if its still the same man

As for where i stayed,,well that place was amazing, i wish to visit there again,,down a whole series of hairpins into a valley,,roads cut into rock,,really amazing,,oh and absolutely no tourists there :lol
