Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / help with posting in sales forum
« on: 15 August 2018, 07:19:21 pm »
Hi guys

I have been trying to post my bike on the sales & wanted page, following all obvious instructions plus attatchments from my hard drive but with no success. Help would be appreciated as it is bad enough having to post my bike for sale once never mind having to keep repeating.

thanks
Jeff

Can anyone point me in the right direction? problem with the bike misfiring, so looking to change the plugs and leads. 2004 bike still on original set up so a change might sort the problem, checked coils and resistance is fine.

Sorry forgot to say , we drained the tank and put in fresh fuel, as we were running out of time we just checked the outer 2 plugs, sparked ok ,looked to be running a bit rich but otherwise ok.

I would welcome any input on my predicament. I went to go out for a spin last week I had about half a tank of fuel and I added a small amount of redex (about 40ml)  then rode to the local garage 1/2 a mile away  and topped up , it was my  first time out  this year due to being busy, anyhow my 2004 fzs1 started ok as it always has but sounded a bit lumpy  as I backed it out of my garage it stalled then took a few goes to restart I put it down to old fuel in the line and set off to top up. it started ok after I had fuelled up but continued to run a bit ropey, loosing power then picking up again,a couple of miles later the problem got worse then the bike backfired a couple of times and stopped, and stayed stopped  I got rac recovery out to take me home.  when it was trying to start kerbside it sounded like it was only running on 2 cylinders and the exhaust was blueish. I had last started the bike about 6 wks earlier and ran it for 15mins , it was fine
my mate and I stripped out the carbs and cleaned them 2 jets looked to be blocked, the fuel pump looks to be working ok, doesn't look to be the head gasket  ,took the rad cap off  and it seems ok. Not sure which way to head next  without getting a garage to pick it up and start paying :'(

Hi Ricky

Yes I did it and it made a big improvement, im 6ft and 15 st  and found the original setting way to narrow and I have never got on with bar end mirrors. Give it a go, you can always put them back.

Hello
Im trying to get a replacement for the spacer that goes on the inside of the exup blade where it goes into the hole at the back, I have just rang my local Yam dealer  £32 + vat...whaaaaaaat!!!! for a spacer!. If you bought all the parts of yam dealers to build a bike it would cost millions.  so if anyone has one to sell or knows a cheaper outlet I would be grateful to hear of it.  The bike starts and runs fine without it, I just don't know if it would do any long term damage to the valve.

I had my seat done by Tony Archer in Huddersfield, just replaced the foam and redressed the seat, colour coded piping top job and very reasonable price.  This was about 5/6 yrs ago £60...I nearly fell over when I saw the quality of the work, I honestly thought ,he's quoted me the wrong price when I saw it and a great improvement in comfort without using gel.

I paid 3.5k for my gen1 earlier this year, top money I know but the bike is a 56 plate with 8000 miles on & in near mint condition
I am well pleased with it, apart from the rock hard seat :lol but Tony Archer will sort that out for me over the winter
Enjoy your new ride :)

Cheers Tim
I had Tony Archer do my seat, 1st rate job, just re foamed it, no gel, world of difference. When I went to pick it up I couldn't believe the job he had done for the price

Thanks lads.... It only happened cos it was pissing down and I had to stop pretty sharp, I was more concerned about staying on it than changing gears.

At least the Spanish are consistent in one thing.......accepting "deal sweeteners" in fag packets or anything else you want to bung it to them in.....

« on: 04 August 2015, 08:00:46 pm »
For a while now I seem to have a problem changing down gears if I have brought the bike to a stop without down changing as I slowed, when im stopped and I try to change down it will go down to about 3rd them wont go further without a bit of jiggling about. Other than that the gearbox is fine, no missed/ sticky  gears  and changes down fine if I change down as im slowing. Is this a common problem? or are dark clouds forming on my horizon ?   You can tell that ive just had a week in Scotland , still looking for bloody dark clouds...

That said my front ones are pretty good , its the rear ones that are awkward but if a set is a set so be it.

« on: 14 December 2014, 04:01:49 pm »
I changed mine last year, my bikes an 04 and as far as I know had the original lines on . So....yes it defiantly stop quicker...but it is far less forgiving of those situations where you think  Shit! I know I shouldn't really break here but im going to have to  very  very gently apply a bit .....there isn't so much gently about it . It will probably improve with wear and practice but for me , I probably regret changing

23
Tony Archer in Huddersfield...good quality work very reasonably priced...got mine refoamed and re covered a couple of years ago pipeing to match the bike colour £60  I genuinely thought he had given me the wrong quote when I saw the seat on the workbench it looked that good, and good quality foam made a huge difference to distance comfort

« on: 06 July 2014, 04:26:31 pm »
Had my sargent seat turn up yesterday, feels like a plank after the OE one to be honest, but I finished this weeks job yesterday so got today to try it out. Btw didn't think I would survive the week, was unbelievably hot in the fens at warboys...laying bricks in direct sunshine every day, nearly cooked myself..drank about a gallon of cordial a day...
It's no life for an (old) animal...
Typical...theres probably some poor hod carrier bustin his arse while your avin a break, I take it your left handed...is the glove to keep your jacking off hand soft  he he he   :lol
