Beware of old style FZ1 rotors being sold on ebay.
« on: 29 June 2020, 09:18:23 pm »
Was doing a search for a fellow foccer when I came across this little gem. We have a chancer trying to sell an old style FZ1 rotor as coming off a 2009 model, when afaik this style of rotor was only ever fitted to the 2006/2007 models. Imho this should only be bought as an emergency spare if at all.

I have one exactly like this one that I took off my 2007 model only a few weeks ago! I wouldn't know what a 2009 model one looks like TBH...I thought they all looked like this until they were upgraded by Yamaha from 2009/10? I might be wrong as I don't know much about these bikes yet.

As far as I can tell from the info I have found so far is that from 2008 on the FZ1 were solde with the newer (superseded)  style of rotor. Said part has a metal band in the inside of the rotor preventing the magnets from ever coming away from the inside of the rotor even is the glue were to fail.

Old Style on the left, new style on the right -
