No real point. Either you like watching that kind of video or you don't. If you don't then watch something else. I promise I won't mind.  :D

The White SUV I first filter past had just changed to that lane and unlikely to move back and the car indicating to change lanes had slowed to a stop before I pass her. I did almost stop to allow her to move across if she wanted to.

TBH that was the first time I'd put a cam on my helmet and had switched to using a proper editor over MS MovieMaker. More a learning experience for me than anything else.

Do I ride too close sometimes? Yeah probably, Do I make bad decisions while riding? Hell yeah. I've been know to pull wheelies and speed as well.  :evil

I do know what you mean woodwizard. I'll have to think about that. Maybe just music over bad wind noise.

Now then tonyw im with you and all that about tailgating but are you not popping a wheelie 8 seconds into your clip-------------just sayin
Clutch slipped hossifer.  :lol

We'd filtered up to the guy at a set of lights about 2 minutes earlier on the dual carriageway and he'd tried to race us away from the lights, unsuccessfully.
He must have either carved through the traffic or been very lucky to catch up to us.

The BMW is a LOT closer  than my mate is to the car in front. As we come past the flats with the balcony's he accelerates to within 6 feet of me at about 25-30mph.
I try very hard to not let my road rage genie out of its bottle as I not that long ago had a warning for stopping in the middle of the road to point out to another tailgater the error of his ways.  :o

Took a ride down to BMAD Paignton bike night as I normally do on a Wednesday, only this time I had an old video camera my daughter found in the back of  cupboard sellotaped to the front indicator. Its pre-HD vintage and the built in screen doesn't work so its taken a bit of fiddling to get the settings right and it pointing straight. It turns out that windows Movie maker doesn't like the output from the cam and squashes everything up, so I've spent the day learning how to use lightworks instead. Ho hum.
Oh well, here's the vid, plus if you check my youtube channel you can see the first couple of attempts.

Stone in the caliper is most likely. It could also be the speedo drive dried out.

Its on a private track on the outskirts of Exeter  :D
I went through the timestamp on the vid and the GSR ran  0-100 in 7.6 seconds and the 1/4 mile in 12.3 @119mph I was whoever was on the Fazer was a bit faster than that. You can see it pull away as it hits third. the 1/4 mile mark is about 10 feet past the first bridge.

check for cracks on the body of the calliper along the side of the nipple (where the metal is thinnest)

I'd do a compression test and a cooling system pressure test before anything else.

Just got back from the Devon air ambulance trust rideout, from Tiverton to Teignmouth via 76 miles  of nice roads. Overall I did a little over 100 miles. I would guess between 800-1100 bikes attended the ride.

The overflow parking area just after I arrived

More overflow parking in a different area.

Guess what?

I ended up playing tag with this Z750

Had a chat after we parked up. He was a little surprised when I told him mine was a 600 not a 1000 fazer. Grins all round, this day.

On the label sewn usually to the strap of your helmet will be  a number something like 05XXXXX/P-0XXXXXX, or 05XXXXX/J-0XXXXXX  or finally 05XXXXX/P-J-0XXXXX
P is tested for full face approval
J is tested for open face approval
P-J is Full and open approval
Unless the helmet is approved P-J it is illegal to use a flip front helmet with the chin bar open.

Sage advice :D That's why I was thinking full fuel, for a bit of extra weight at the front end. They do say they run similar machines together so hoping for a 600 class.
I can always out-drag my mate on his Gsxr6 away from the lights. Of course it may just be that he's a spaz on the clutch. I'm also hoping the shorter distance gives the Fazers strength, i.e. a strong midrange a bit of and advantage.

General / Re: Compression test readings..
« on: 01 July 2014, 08:29:27 pm »
Fairly low for 2 star fuel. Compression pressure on a z1 should be 130-160psi.

Assuming the valve clearances are set right:

If its been stood it could just be gummed up rings or even corrosion on the valve seats if it wasn't laid up properly. Take the plugs out and drop a thimble full of diesel down the bores. Just enough to cover the top of the piston. leave it overnight it will act like penetrating oil and hopefully break free the rings if they are stuck. Make sure you spin over the engine to get any left over diesel out before refitting any of the spark plugs. Bare in mind that most of the diesel will end up in the sump so you either do an oil change afterwards or on the cheap just drain the oil into a clean container the pour it back in afterwards.

Run it for a few days at various loads and speeds then do another comp test to see if there's an improvement.

The 20psi change does show a reasonable amount of wear on the bores/rings but not massively so. The 110psi is very low though if the bike isn't smoking or lacking power. I'd check the gauge against another in case its faulty. Also what are the valve clearances like? Too loose or tight will drop the pressure without smoke (power would be down though)

I can see how using hazards could work. The human eye see's the yellow part of the spectrum fastest as it is an irritant colour (Google it).
Maybe New "Filtering" lights further into the yellow spectrum could be used. Some sort of Larson scanner for cross field movement made from bright yellow L.E.D's across the front of the bike would help. (Like Knightrider's Kitt)
As a final thought, My Land Rover is bright yellow and no one has ever pulled out in front of me. Coincidence?

It came up in a Facebook Pisstake today. Do we have a Club Anthem I said we didn't but if we did it should be Cee Lo Green's "Fuck You" ( F.O.C-U ). Anyone else have a better suggestion?

Many years ago at my first bike rally I was initiated by having pints poured over me all night til I was soaked. Once I was in my tent pissed out of my head asleep two bags of flour and a 6 pack of eggs were chucked in and liberally spread around. I woke up unable to open my eyes and glued to the sleeping bag, my clothes and the tent itself. The only two things to survive the experience were me, and my leather jacket which was nice and supple after being cleaned.

Paignton bike night again. Several Fazers in attendance including a weird mix and match blue/silver thing. Most interesting was the run home.
Being a born again biker I've been having slight confidence issues with fast bends. Not any more!! Had a ZX9R (I think) and R1 come up behind me. The Kwak passed me and I sat between them for a couple of spirited miles. Fun but I was worried I'd do something stupid and cause the R1 a problem. I waved the R1 passed  as we slowed to go through a little village. As we left the village they "went for it". Now I only had to worry about myself I tucked in behind them for the next few miles an "went for it" as well.
Had a MASSIVE grin on my face when they finally  pulled over. They were  opening a small gap on the straights but on the brakes and bends I reeled 'em straight back in. Superb. :D :D :D :D got a thumbs up from them as I went passed.

(in the interests of road safety all speed limits and road traffic laws were adhered to at all times during this post)
