General / Tyre help please.
« on: 26 June 2015, 07:01:29 pm »
The rear tyre on my Sprint is needing replaced, it's a Pirelli Angel st, I don't really like the feel of it but it was on the bike when I purchased it and was too good to throw off, my question is can I leave the half decent Angel on the front and fit a Michelin on the rear or am I better to replace both to Michelin, my brother says he read somewhere that I must have same tyre front and rear but I don't know so need your input.

I'm thinking of selling my FZ6 Fazer and buying a Sprint ST 1050cc, anyone on the forum ever owned one?, if so what are the good and bad points?,  I did fancy going for the FZ1 but can't find one that ticks all the right boxes for me, is there any other bike in the 1000cc sport touring genre that might be worth considering? thanks in advance Rob.

General / Doctors visit today.
« on: 21 March 2014, 08:25:15 pm »

Went to the doctors today with a few health issues, here's how it went:-
Q: Doctor, I've heard that cardiovascular exercise can prolong life. Is this true?
A: Heart only good for so many beats, and that it... Don't waste on exercise. Everything wear out eventually. Speeding up heart not make you live longer; it like saying you extend life of car by driving faster. Want to live longer? Take nap.

Q: Should I reduce my alcohol intake?
A: Oh no. Wine made from fruit. Fruit very good. Brandy distilled wine, that mean they take water out of fruity bit so you get even more of goodness that way. Beer also made of grain. Grain good too. Bottom up!
Q: What are some of the advantages of participating in a regular exercise program?
A: Can't think of one, sorry. My philosophy: No pain...good!
Q: Aren't fried foods bad for you?
A: YOU NOT LISTENING! Food fried in vegetable oil. How getting more vegetable be bad?
Q: Is chocolate bad for me?
A: You crazy?!? HEL-LO-O!! Cocoa bean! Another vegetable! It best feel-good food around!
Q: Is swimming good for your figure?
A: If swimming good for figure, explain whale to me.
Q: Is getting in shape important for my lifestyle?
A: Hey! 'Round' is shape!
Well... I hope this has cleared up any misconceptions you may have had about food and diets.
And remember:
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Chardonnay in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!!"
AND......
For those of you who watch what you eat, here's the final word on nutrition and health. It's a relief to know the truth after all those conflicting nutritional studies.
1. The Japanese eat very little fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than Brits.
2. The Mexicans eat a lot of fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than Brits.
3. The Chinese drink very little red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than Brits.
4. The Italians drink a lot of red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than Brits.
5. The Germans drink a lot of beer and eat lots of sausages and fats and suffer fewer heart attacks than Brits.
CONCLUSION: Eat and drink what you like. Speaking English is apparently what kills you.

Just been looking at this website, lots of good info on here, can vouch for the "routes to ride" number 10, (right on my doorstep) The Portsoy Ice cream shop has very good ice cream, and The Fiddoch Side Inn is a very olde worlde kind of pub. If there are more than 10 in your group it would fill the place, and the old man that runs the place is a total classic. Also the road from Banff to Huntly has a good mix of long straights and twisties mixed into one. If you are in the area give it a blast.
Whats your opinions of your local rideouts.

SWMBO has just announced that there is sufficient funds in the piggy bank for a nice set of rubber for the new season, the bike is currently sitting on Bridgestone BT21's which were on it when I got it approx 6000 miles, I only use the bike for pleasurable weekend runs with some spirited runs through the twisties, cutting to the chase what kind of tyres are you guys running and what kind of miles are you getting out of them.

I think my inlaws wireless router has been hacked, for the last couple of months their usage has near doubled compared to the months before, they only use their computer to access Facebook and send a few emails. (don't download films or music) Does anyone in the foccer font of knowledge know how to change the password/security so we can try and block neighbours using their allowance, They have a homehub 3. many thanks Rob.

« on: 23 March 2012, 10:56:00 pm »
as title, any foccers got a 6 wheel policy with Carole Nash (car and bike on same policy) Just been on the website getting a quote for the bike £50 cheaper than any of the compare sites or renewal, (dial direct). Anyways when on the site I see they do a 6 wheel policy and as the cage is due a fortnight after the bike I thought I might give it a try, just wondering if anyone has taken this type of policy out, thanks in advance for any info.

FZ6 / Fazer / Front forks
« on: 25 February 2012, 09:41:21 am »
Been out in the shed changing the front fairing this week, anyway whilst the front plastics etc were off I decided to change the front fork oil, on doing the job I found the springs were fitted upside down, can anybody explain this, is it a mod I haven't heard about. the roads are still quite crappy here so I have not had a blast out to see if the springs being the right way round will make any difference. So anybody care to comment as to whether it would make that much difference.

FZ6 / Fazer / Fork oil.
« on: 25 January 2012, 11:10:02 pm »
A quick one for the font of knowledge, I have the complete front off the bike to respray the clock brackets and fit a new fairing, whilst I,m in this far I am planning to change the fork oil, I use the bike for the odd Sunday blast but mostly just puttling about at the weekend, (nothing too spirited) question is what is the best grade of oil to fill the forks with. Is there some makes of oil better quality than others, all inputs welcome, thanks.

Been out fettling on the bike all afternoon, replacing damaged fairing and giving all the parts tucked away under it a good clean and polish, anyways one of the winter jobs I had on the cards was replacing the fork oil, what would be the best grade of oil to replace the existing with?, 5, 10 or15? also is a 2005 fz6 setup the same or similar to the FZS as I've never done this before and see there is a couple of great writeups about this on the forum, any help good or bad greatfully received.
