Focer font of Knowledge - Internal Oak Doors

Morning Focers,  so, another job that I've been putting off for a few years now, but now have no excuse not to do is giving our internal doors some love.


They are oak doors from Howdens and had Danish Oil applied when they were new.


Looking to give them a clean and a re-oil what are your top focer tips for this?


soapy water?  light sanding?  fine wire wool?

Definitely do not use soapy water. Over the years at sharp hall I have replaced all my doors with engineered oak doors. On mine I used Carl's hard wax oil, 1 coat then a light sand with 600 grade, then a top coat of carls restorer and a buff up with a soft cloth to a mat sheen.
I put it all on with a paint pad.
Not sure if there would be a problem with hard wax oil over _ all be it > old oil

I also gave the doors a sand before I put the first coat on,especially the bead areas.

And this is the top coat I used but it seems its been replaced with a different product but I'm not sure what.

Cheers Mr Sharp, but is that what you did when they were brand new and untreated, or what you continue to do every couple of years? Do I even need to re-treat them?

I did them from new and never needed to do anything else with them.
The hard wax oil drys slow but the top coat of restorer smells a bit like white Sprit and drys in 15 mins, is very thin and goes a long way, buffs up to a really nice sheen.
If you can find the replacement product for it you may just need that.

A light sand will be fine but not really necessary unless you have marks, dings you would like to remove. Otherwise just apply the danish oil with a cloth, let it soak in and remove any excess.
