General / Back to black?

Anyone have any tips to get flat black components back to black? My engine and frame have like a milky coating now? Not sure if it's the wax in the soap that I use for washing it but nothing seems to clean it off. Just wondering if anyone could suggest anything that might work?
My valeter said it need an acid wash or something but sounds a bit too drastic?

Well the bike is 10 years old and has had the MCT work done at some point but I don't have a clue when so couldn't say how old it is? I have some paperwork that came with it and says it was set up for a 90kg rider. I'm 102kgs and I find that it bottoms out if I drive off a low curb even at walking pace so I'm guessing I might want to err on the side of heavier oil?
To be fair it's not set up to my weight at all (as I don't have a clue about doing it) so figure it's worth changing it out then having it set up to see how it feels.
If I'm honest it's awful at the minute, hard over bumps/potholes and light/flighty at speed so doesn't inspire confidence of any kind. That's why I need to get it sorted ASAP but at £140 all in to get the oil changed I wanna do it right first time haha

Hate insurance companies because you lose out even when it's not your fault. I'd just get on the phone with them ASAP if I were you mate 😯

General / Stupid fork oil question

Is there anyway to tell which weight oil I have in the front forks while I'm changing it?
I know the bike has had MCT treatment and is uprated from standard but not a clue what they have put in it?
I don't want to replace it with a lower weight oil then have to strip them again to re-do it?
Any ideas?

Silver fzs on cleethorpes seafront. The guy riding it was dressed in full camo kit. Almost didn't see him 😉

I learnt to rise motorbikes in Spain so I was well used to riding in the heat. I almost cried the first time I rode in the UK when I realised it was freezing at anything over 20mph haha
Now I'm used to it but I just have be various kit to ride to conditions. I usually avoid the rain but don't mind riding in it. I feel it's make you a better rider, learning to control the bike on those kind of conditions helps you know how far you can push it in the dry.
As for riding in the heat just buy some motocross armour and Wear it over a tshirt. Very good protection but without the sweating 🖒

Haha one of my favourite past times is goading 'fast' cars. I spanked a clio v6 rally just the other day. You can just feel the rage in the back of your head as you pass them hahaha

The nest one is when you get a groups of young uns in some kind of gti/St kind of thing, music blaring out everywhere, giving you the stink eye at the lights

I've managed just over 190 a few times before the light came on. I'm usually between 140 and 160 after brimming it till the lamp comes on.

Don’t see why you can’t commute on an MT10.

That's 'wheelie machine' term bores me with reviews. It's an illegal thing to do on the road so why they mention it in so many road tests is beyond me. And as you said it's down to the rider anyway. To the right person a yzf125 is a wheelie machine.
I took a Ktm 1290 Super Duke out a few weeks back and all the reviews say that's a wheelie monster and untamable etc etc to be honest I found it dull and listless as I'm not that kind of rider.

As for the MT-10, I completely agree about commuting on it. I commute on my Fz1-n.
No fairing, abysmal fuel consumption, shocking tank range, hard suspension and tuned to the point where the power is pretty much all or nothing...... but I arrive to work everyday with an empty wallet and a huge grin on my face which is why I bought it in the first place haha
