General / Re: Downshift Blipping
« on: 13 September 2017, 03:43:55 pm »
If you bothered to read my original post i asked the question why do it, if the engine matches the revs to wheel speed when changing down, wind on the throttle and you negate the engine braking.
Yes that's why I do it -- to negate the engine braking - or the amount of braking because I am in control of it by how much I blip I then use the front brake instead of letting the engine braking brake the back wheel as IT wants. But all that depends on my speed before the action and my planned speed after it and the degree of the corner or the speed at which I need to slow down and also the road conditions at the time that all lead me to the blip action-front brake - a little bit of engine braking (controlled by the blip ) and no back brake at least mostly until the end- all done without thinking.  :thumbup
I have no idea why they don't teach it
Do they teach counter steering. _Genuine question, I don't know  because that is another skill in the same sort of bracket I would say.
Another one - do they teach clutch less up shifting.

No and no. Counter steering as a rule isn't something that needs teaching. If you can ride a bike around a corner then you can counter steer? It's just how a 2 wheeled vehicle works. And as for clutchless upshifts..... the way you get taught is that there's a clutch there for a reason.
Like anything you don't start learning until you've passed the test.

Another example of confusing instruction that I received was i wether to pull your clutch in while performing an emergency stop. Now on my lessons and for my test I was taught to leave the clutch engaged until the very last minute to make use of the engine braking to slow me down.....makes sense.
Then I went and did some advanced racing training at Caldwell and was taught to pull the clutch in straight away as leaving it was driving the rear wheel thus forcing you further forward....also makes sense. So who do you listen to? The driving instructor who's been teaching people to pass tests for 15+years or the ex racer thats raced for 15+ years?

Ah right, all makes sense. I knew I couldn't get 'done' by them but I was also sure they were recording speed. Just had some appear near my house so was wondering who'd complained about my driving 😂😂

Any of you clever Foccers know what the rubber strips across the road are actually for? The ones that are ties to the road then feed into a little box that's usually chained to a lamppost
I asked the council worker who was installing them and his answer was 'traffic monitoring' apparently to count the amount of cars then travel on a certain route but my argument for that is why do they have them set up every 100 or so yards and why is there 2 strips side by side? That to me says speed detection? Other wise they would only need 1 strip?

He good thing about the Tom Toms is that they get their camera data from users as well as official maps. There is an button in the corner of the screen that yiu can press when you see a camera so if enough people report a camera location it starta to appear on the map.
Works great near me when it goes off in the usual camera van places but is damn annoying while driving down the m1, m25 or any other variable limit road as it pings for every single overhead camera where they are on or not haha

I run a snooper in my merc it works but gives you false warning sometime, for example automatic doors on shops or petrol station set it off. It does not recognise speed avarage camers but they dont get you straight away like a gatso or treveio. Road works = averaging  camers, foccing great big yellow cameras on yellow poles = avaraging camers it is not rocket science. I update my Snoopwr on line once a month and it seems to work fine. Nothing is fool proof though the pnly gauranteed way of not getting a ticket is .....................

Running false plates?

Dudeofrude's plate Registration = EK02 FSB

 :rollin :'( :lol

Nah nah nah don't be silly. If your gonna run fake plates then use foreign ones cause the police won't even bother haha

Any help would be greatly appreciated 😁😁

I'm considering doing this too but mainly just because my seat is too low. I can flat foot with both feet and even stand up off the seat slightly. Didn't really think about the handling differences it might make 🤔

FFS Dudeo how tall are you? Flat foot both sides and still manage arse off seat.
I'm 5' 9.5" and can almost stand up under the centre stand.  :rollin

Only 6' 2 but quite long legged haha

there's a good reason why firms like k tech, maxton are in business.

Theres a good reason companies like Yamaha are in business. Afterall they put the stock shock in there in the first place. They spend hundreds of thousands in R&D and have teams of specialists design and set up a motorbike to work exactly as it should.
Then the average joe whos buys it decides it's not good enough and changes parts out for something they deem to be 'better'

the reason maxton et al are in business are because firms like yamaha get it wrong so often. why else would they sell a fazer with a spring rate set for 10st.
dynojet had a record year in 2006/7 sorting out the fz1 fuelling.
would you like some savlon for those burns

Maybe because the vast majority of Yamaha customers around the world aren't all fat bastards like us in the UK haha and while I'll agree that they royally fucked up in 2006 with the Fazer fuelling they sorted it out by 2008 negating the need for dynojet to do anything unless people start messing with the bike again.
Look I'm on your side in all this, my bike is more heavily modified than most but I still stand by the fact that if you left the bike completely stock it would run/ride better than 90% of people could actually ride it. The problems only start when people do 'mods' for the sake of doing mods

A prime example being swapping the exhaust out for something louder/prettier which straight away messes with the fuelling which then leads on to buying a power commander then a remap and changing air filters etc etc.... where as if ya left the pipe alone the bike wouldnt have sounded as cool but would have been running fine

1289
Sounds silly but are you sure your not being a bit more heavy wristed because of the new noise? I for one have been guilty of it in the past. The bike sounds amazing so instead of shifting into 3rd at 5000rpm you keep it in second until 10000 because the noise is immense?
Just a theory

On modern cars the position of the filler cap is indicated on the fuel gauge.

Is it??? I never knew that.... maybe my car's aren't modern enough, 😞

Here's an example from my car, the little arrow next to the fuel pump points to which side the filler cap is on 👍

Seeing as the very youngest FZS1000s are now 12 years old it's unrealistic to expect Yamaha to stock every spare part, things will (if they haven't already) become no longer available (NLA). I would like to know the authorities stance on running older bikes when NLA parts are no longer serviceable.

Having lived, worked and owned a business in Spain I can tell you the most likely answer is they won't give a shit. Tough titties is the phrase that comes to mind, if it doesn't have what it needs then take it off the road.
I run my own business for more than 5 years and I can tell you that trying to get past any sort of red tape out there is beyond a nightmare. You quickly learn (as falcon has) that it's easier to play ball, like it or lump it.
It's part of the reason I came back, just a constant up hill struggle to earn a living. I'd retire there in a heartbeat as long as I didn't have to set foot near another ajuntament haha

And taking parcels to the post office you get asked "what's in it"  FOC OFF

They have to ask because of the requirements to ensure that you're not sending dangerous or prohibited items through the post.

Also if it's valuable, they should recommend that you send it Recorded or Special Delivery. If they've done that and there's a problem or it goes missing, they can say "We told the customer" and it avoids liability.

And I imagine this people who send dangerous and prohibited items are always up front and honest about it 🤔😉

About as much use as the 'Are you over 18' button on a porn site 😂
