What is the chain of choice. Is it DID x ring?

Clean the oil off the chain, then put chain lube back on. See if the noise changes

Yeah i know what you're saying, i've already considered that, but the chain looks so healthy, if that's the right terminology, that i kind of feel a bit reluctant to gunge it back up again, but i'll probably have to use it as a process of elimination.
If my hearing wasn't so over sensitive it wouldn't be an issue but i can hear a pin drop from a mile away so to me it's overly irritating.  :lol

WHAT, couldn't hear you!!

Who actually won the final?

I went out and blew £100 on slate chippings for the border between the patio and the fence. Took the long way home in my car. Drank cold beer. Cleaned out the garage. Drank more cold beer.

Pussy Riot stole the show apparently!

« on: 14 July 2018, 08:52:48 pm »
did the scottish highland ride about a month ago.
did 1400 miles over 6 days.
I suffer badly with numb bum syndrome.
50 or 60 miles then I start to feel it.
tried a/hawk,gel pad etc no joy but these worked for me......
can go twice the distance before I need to get off.

I have one of these and can defiantly vouch for it!

« on: 19 June 2018, 08:34:31 pm »
Goretex it is then, actually now the bike is nearly packed I would be hard pushed to even get my over suit into panniers.

Off to Ireland on Thursday for a wedding.
Looking warm, talk of a heat wave,
Do I wear my goretex textile kit, which is new so never worn in the summer it has vents etc, or leathers?
With the goretex I don't need to worry about  rain showers obviously. Leathers I need to pack waterproofs
whats your advise.

Cheers Nick
Goretex probably more versatile, but I just prefer leather.
Although from my experience they can be just as hot as leather.
Where in Ireland are you heading too Nick?

Kinsale, so half way across at the bottom. Hope to get a few miles in on Saturday!

Im guessing if but the one without the gas bottles you have to blow the tyre up your self, ie pump.

Are the gas bottle ones easy to use?

Trip to Ireland next month for a wedding. :)

General / Re: Audi style Flowing Indicators
« on: 09 May 2018, 08:24:30 pm »
Today I have seen a VW and a toyota with the same indicators they all just copy each other - so boring

VW own Audi so not actually surprising that they use it.
I bet the first manufacturer to use flashing indicators got pissed when all the others copied them. :pokefun

General / Re: Question for MT10 owners.
« on: 29 April 2018, 07:14:41 pm »
This is a bastard thread as I am so tempted. Test road one at easter on the Yamaha ride day, that made it even worse. Waiting for the prices to come down, so another couple of years.
What mpg are you getting as this seems to be the only Achilles heel that I can find?

mr nick ....if your worried about MPG you shouldn't be looking at 1 litre bikes......iam a lucky foccer , I have a 6 and a mighty thou , I know if I take it easy on the 6 I can get 60 mpg , I haven't a clue what the thou does , but on a full days ride it has been known for me to fill up 3 times.......I do get in at the end of the day grinning from ear to ear though    :thumbup

Im beginning to realise this, my mate has a 05 r1, and he wasn't fazed by the mpg. Just its a massive shock from the 600. At least my knees and back would get a regular break, although it was very comfortable unlike the mt09 which I found very uncomfortable.

hi nick , both bikes are good as we all know , the 6 is a great allrounder and IMO very hard to beat , both bikes have thier advantages the two that stand out in my view are.....600 MPG......1000 comfort......happy to ride all day on the thou but the 6 i need a rest before the tanks dry.........go on spoil yourself....have both    :thumbup

Lol its called garage space, money and wife! Although I could twist it and say the 600 is ideal as a first bike for her as and when she comes to ride.

FZS600 Fazer / % Brighter Bulbs
« on: 18 April 2018, 08:43:46 pm »
Off to a wedding in Ireland in June, and may have a couple of hours of motorway miles coming back in the dark.
Im not too bothered by my lights at night but then again I barely ride at night, not for a couple of hours any way.
So was wondering about 50,60 100% brighter bulbs.
Do they make a difference?
Are they just a straight swap or is there some fettling required due to motorbike wiring, I know its a straight swap on a car.

Cheers
Nick

Not convinced fazersharp, the car in the right lane is about level with the lead vehicle as well. Biker would of been shouting at the passenger as well as its in yanksville. I don't think the biker has much to complain about really, doesnt excuse the mazda driver but we all know there are some morons on the road.

General / Re: Tyres and upgrades
« on: 05 April 2018, 07:23:19 pm »
Because new tyres cost money to develop and therefore cost more to buy, older tyres will be cheaper, plus as is the case with michelin the newer tyres don't come in older bikes sizes, you can't get a PR4 for FZS600 front wheel for example. SO perhaps tyres manufacturers are thinking of older gits like you so stop whinging  :pokefun :kiss
