FZS600 Fazer / Re: Front indicators for the back.
« on: 18 September 2017, 11:11:24 am »

this is suposedly a email from vosa reguarding an enquiry into integrated tail units (2012)

Dear Mr Berry,
Thank you for your email enquiry dated 22nd  April, 2012 concerning the MOTtest. These aftermarket lamps do not meet the requirements of The Road Vehicles(Lighting) Regulations 1989 as amended and should fail an MOT test.  Thelegislation requires that motorcycle rear direction indicators have aminimum spacing between illuminating surfaces of 180mmWe are  not aware of any such lamps being E marked, but there is a bigproblem with imported goods having counterfeit markings.I hope this information has assisted you with your enquiry, but if you haveany further questions please do not hesitate to contact us again.Kind Regards

dont think there is a distance thing as long as they are visible (not behind numberplate) or together (inside brake lightswouldnt worry about mot rules on that one otherwise no-one would ever change them to stubbys
could you imagine the arsehole who would fail you for having indi's 1cm closer than EU regs lol

i dont see a reason why they wouldnt fit as the 'gap fillers' you buy when fitting stubby indis fit both front and back universaly
there is a possibility that the wires might be a different length but nothing a little solder and extra wire wouldnt fix (if shorter on front ones)

as for replacing the rubbers mine are cracked on the outside but absolutly fine inside
so its most likely just for asthetics but at £90 a set mine can stay cracked
i read somewhere that the rubber inlets are made of two different rubbers and its only the outside that reacts to the heat but weather thats true or not i dont know

as your problems were mainly in the rain i would certainly be replacing the plug caps first with the SD05F remember to snip a little cable off the ht lead (i just took 10mm off) and check all the drain holes from around the spark plug are clear (mine were full of crap when i got it)

extended swingarms and fat tyres are only for looks
destroys handling on any bike especially sports
go for it on a vmax show bike and chops but wouldnt even consider it for a fazer i think it would look so wrong

personally i wouldnt as your talking about 2 very important safety parts
but that is mainly because there is not really any write ups about these
china can make some good stuff (iphones are chinese) but they happily make shit stuff aswell
will be interested to know how these turn out though
-im guessing you bought them for looks as a brake lever from busters/m+p is only 6 quid and arrives quickly (usually next day if ordered in morning)

trimming underside isnt a problem as it will be going on a flat race seat unit anyhow
i was struggling to figure out how to get a seatpad to sit nicely with the tank
-problem solved - cheers

30 inch on bars 32 at the levers (sounds odd but looks fine)

link to my youtube channel has a video about fitting them and chopping off the lugs
will be posting most of my modifications and build series on there
personally i think they are a bit wide for city riding but they are comfortable once your used to them
(editing a review video that i made after 50 miles - after 200+ miles was completly used to it)

only issue i have with it is the baffle is well and truly stuck in there
but saying that its plenty loud enough to be noticed but not boys in blue noticed so i havent really tried to get it out
definatly gets some attention when i open it up in town centres
(i really should stop riding through center of kendal though as its ment to be taxis and buses only)
i was looking at that exact same one but decided to go oval to keep it looking slimline
(and traffic filtering freindly but ruined that now with wide renthals on)

as pilot screw o-rings were mentioned i thought i best check
-did you screw pilot screws all the way in and then out 2.5 turns
(dont worry you wont be the first person to forget to screw them out again :rolleyes )

fitted renthal 789's
removed reflector and lifted numberplate (cut a wedge out of plate to lift even higher)
new clutch cable
noticed clutch lever pivot was oval so new lever ordered
- 200 miles later suddenly got a blowing exhaust gasket so had to order them now

was just in there the other day and i didnt see a lock washer - the nut on the outside of the screw is the locking mechanism as far as i can see
but then your picture shows it so it must be there - i wouldnt worry about it

forget ecu that doesnt control your other electrics just engine timing really

your most likely facing a bad earth - had a similar problem on my old honda BROS just cleaned battery terminals on mine but likely to something else
- but what do you mean by battery main switch ?? if you mean like an isolator switch that kills the battery feed then i would definatly start with that
especially as you said you turned it off then on again and it was fine

dont want to burst the bubble here but thats for the FZR
- unless it happens to have the same part number which i didnt find when having a quick look around

this is the FZR - it aint no FZS

edit - just realised it wasnt the OP that posted the ebay link so if its the wrong part no harm no foul

Wrote 'er off. Or at least allowed some other idiot to.. :'(
Riding to work (Halifax) on A629 (new Road) just out of Denholme by the b6141 (long causeway) - for those that might know the area - I'm coming thru' the bend to be met with a largish flatbed truck out of control with its back end rapidly catching up and passing its front end. On my side of the road. It sideswiped me, pushed me down and under the back end and spat me out at the other end. I crawled away to be quickly met by various concerned souls who were a bit shocked to find me pissing myself laughing at my lucky escape (in't Adrenalin brilliaaaant!!!). Turns out there was a big diesel spill up ahead (which he had come through) - I reckon he'd braked as he met the back of the queue going into Denholme, unfortunately for all - mainly me - this was amidst said diesel spill so he lost it big time. Fortunately yrs truly was only doing 20 as I'd just exited some roadworks with no tarmac. Nevertheless very very scary to see a truck spiralling at you!!! :eek
So - long morning spent in A&E getting seen, fortunately no injures beyond extensive bruising and sprained foot. So far anyway. Astonishingly no damage to my kit though the helmet almost certainly took a knock. The bike however is goosed from nose to tail, deffo a write off. (No photos - you'll only get upset.)
Then off home for tea biscuits and a stern lecture from Mrs Wharfe along the lines of "isn't it time you gave up biking for the sake of your family etc etc" Er, no dear,  it's time I bought another low mileage foxeye Fazer to ride to work on  and maintain my sanity with, actually....
Anyway looks like I'll be doing Foc all for a few days (as I can't weight bear) so watch this space!
:eek :eek :eek
You know what perhaps if you had given up biking and had been in a car you may of been worse off and not got spat out relativity unharmed

theres your defense to the other half
would have been trapped in a tin coffin if you were in a car

such small amount of the decal damaged - could just use a mettalic silver
next sticker might not be same size and are (on tank at least) under the clearcoat

Any cameras in the area (criminal damage)?

There'll be a regional Police force CCTV contact number, where they might just be able to retrieve some footage?

Makes your blood boil. I'd just buy a new Screen.

-thats not on the screen though its on the fairing itself

bastards
- i wouldnt get the domed one like that as it will might try and peel itself away from a curved surface
its designed to go on flat stuff i think - maybe just wet sand out the scratch and use a metalic silver touch up pen

technically clean, use toothpick to fill scratch - wetsand scratch and excess touchup out as best as possible without removing all of the clearcoat

this is overkil but will give you the idea
