FZS600 Fazer / Sorry - tyres again!
« on: 11 February 2019, 09:15:48 am »
Bought an 02 Foxeye last April which have Pirello Diablo's on. Getting a bit low now. Too be honest my riding style is 'gentle' (some may say boring - some may say safe) but I know I'm not going to be knee scraping, so my question is what do I put on next. Michelin PR4's? Any other suggestions?

Not yet technically challenging question really - but my tiny brain can cope with this one.
Anyone recommend a decent tank bag? Was thinking rear top box but I don’t want to spoil ‘The Admirals ‘ good looks  ;)

OK - this is it - first proper ride for 25 years. Going to take it easy, remember all my past training and not get too excited! :eek
Everybody off the roads - NOW!

Cheers all - well 'The Admiral' is at home now all tucked up and ready for tomorrow.
Dilligaff - have a refresher course on Monday and a BikeSafe course booked for the summer.
Thanks for the advice.
Here is a pic (I hope I've posted it correctly)
Bit of a pub quiz question - anyone who guesses why 'The Admiral' can give themselves a pat on the back :rolleyes
Named after Admiral Lord Fraser ?

Clue: number plate

Remember that feeling when you were a kid waiting for Santa to bounce you up and down on his knee? Oh, no, sorry that's a different story. Remember waking up on Christmas morning and you couldn't wait to open those prezzies.
Well it's Christmas day today for me - collect my (new to me) Fazer :) :lol :rollin 8)
Having not had a bike for 25 years (and never having owned a Yammie) this is like Christmas. Yes weather is like Xmas too - pissing down!! Still won't dampen the spirits - yeeeehhhaaaa!

Probably luminous orange with yellow spots, a touch of burnt umber and a hint of cadmium red, quite fetching I think :rollin

Introduced myself earlier this month talking about getting back into biking after 20+ yrs. Well I've gone and done it - bought a 2002 FZS 600 - silver, 23K on the clock. Collect next Saturday but will be trailering as a 130 mile trip after not being on a bike for any length of time is probably not a good idea! Not sure if this is the right area but I'm after a rear hugger and a front extender - best place to get them (and can I get rear hugger the same colour?). Also engine bars or bobbins - any preferences to which is best? And where to get them.

Looks v neat - top end of budget but you gets what you pay for. I think I messed up and sent this same reply via email . Anyway, learning all the time on Forum about FZS’s. My guess about the one I was looking at is it may have been dropped and older parts replaced? Who knows?
Edge of welsh borders mean most bikes a good 2/3 hrs away but I’m going to have to bite the bullet and get out there. Anyone put deposit on without viewing to secure if it’s a dealer? A bit too risky maybe.

mtread - seen one on SuperBike factory in Macclesfield (only seen online not in the physical - yet). 03, 19,000m, £1900.
Like to view next weekend - but if gone by then I’ll just keep looking. https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201801162813141?advertising-location=at_bikes&postcode=hr60lg&model=FZS600&page=1&radius=80&make=YAMAHA
Thoughts?

adasilva - thanks. Is that a move to the Dark Side going for an 04 Fazer onwards?
I’d thought that 02/03 would be the way to go with budget- plus carbs rather than injected?
Forgive my ignorance - just getting back into this after 20+ yrs. -  want to get it right.
Any comparison info good

It is 20 years since I last rode a bike (GS 550). Looking to get back into it and thoughts on a FZS600 2001-2003 as a comeback model? Others considered were a hornet but veering towards the FZS.
Pros and cons appreciated
