Goodbye gen2 Hello s1r
« on: 26 May 2014, 06:15:26 pm »

If you get the chance, take a ride on one. They're a serious bit of kit. A stonking motor allied to supreme handling & if you get in trouble a host of electronic aids to keep you in one piece. The bike is bonkers if you want it to be & yet with a choice of soft, medium or hard suspension settings, cruise control & heated grips make this bike much more than a hooligan tool.
I've swapped a few bits out already & will do more this coming winter but really it doesn't need anything, but we all like to mod our bikes don't we.
It'll be touring Europe this year so it'll be interesting to see how it fares, I reckon it'll be a hoot.  :)

Shame they weren't out when I sold my K1300R because I would of bought one on the spot.

My FZ1 is a weak comparison.

Thanks for the comments.  :)
As to cost Willy, there's 2 ways to look at it.
1) Comparatively speaking with the current crop there's a hell of a lot of bike for the money.
2) £11.4k for the rs + upto now over £1k in mods is a lot of money.
We all have our weak spots, mine is the bike  :)

Seriously jealous, the Akra will add a serious growl and crackle on downshifts, wish I hadn't taken that test ride now

Our friendly Japanese bike manufacturers are some way behind the Europeans at the moment. That is one hell of a bike and I can't wait for the faired version supposedly out next year.

I hope you stick around the forum and tell us how you get on with it over the coming year.

Looks good.

I was seriously tempted when they were announced. It does seem like a lot of bike for the money and the natural progression from the gen 2. However, when I sat on it I found it to be slightly too tall for me to feel confident, particularly for touring. I felt like I was sitting too much on top of it, race replica style, rather than in it, naked bike style. I'm only slightly jealous ...

Everyone should give it a test ride...its so different from the gen2 its untrue. It has bonkers performance. And that exhaust looks like it would be quiet , but actually it isn't .
Dek is coming on tour ...I aint sure if we shall see much of him in the day !  ..just a tail light heading into the distance !  :lol

Went out with my mate the other week on his new S1R. He left me dead in the water on my Gen2. :(

The torque on thebike is awesome!! So much grunt right from the start.

His bike is also limited to 7K revs until the 1st service on saturday!! - Akra zorst being fitted at same time -it should be absolutely bonkers with full power available. 8)

Probably the best naked on the market for quite a while to come. Hope you paid the extra & got it specced up? Enjoy!!!! :)
