Trying this on here first before it goes on fleabay for £1500 in the hope a Foccer will buy it and give her the care she deserves.

I bought her on 16/03/2012.  She was in lovely nick then and had obviously been well loved.  She's now showing her age (usual suspects, engine fins, radiator) and has a couple of  scratches on the tank (which is a replacement after I dropped the original while balancing the carbs, documented in the forums somewhere!)

She's all original other than stainless downpipes (I forget the make but they were the best recommended ones with link pipes), and a K&N washable air filter.

MOT until 25/04/2022.  I don't think she's ever had an MOT advisory.
Current mileage is 22,076.  Last few MOT mileages were 21,778;  21,459;  21,062

Service history is a bit thin on the ground as I've done it myself.  New fork oil last year, centre stand stripped, Hammerited and greased, calpiers overhauled (that was probably a while ago actually).  Tyres have virtually no wear, brake pads almost new (although I'm not that happy with them, may be worth swapping).  Front sprocket nut replaced with the uprated item by CMC at Clay Cross (for free!! Yay!)

Please see the pictures and ask anything you want to!

She's located in Winster, near Matlock Bath.

Oh yes, and she has a full tank of fuel which is unlikely to change before sale :)
Cheers

Any hints to make life easier getting centre stand springs off and on again?

Cheers.

General / Running for first time in months (Fazer, not me)
« on: 08 December 2018, 02:46:21 pm »
Hi Folks

Not been around for a while, hope you're all good.

I've also not run the Fazer for months (probably sell it in the NY, TBH).  Do you think I need to shove a little oil in the cylinders before turning it over by hand, or just start the thing?

Ta,
Andy

General / Derbyshire Camera Vans Colour
« on: 02 September 2017, 05:27:51 pm »
Anybody know what colour Derbyshire speed camera vans are?
Think I saw one on a bridge overlooking the A6 duel carriageway north of Buxton.
Are they clearly marked?  Can they get you off bridges?

Questions questions!!   :)

FZS600 Fazer / Exhaust Manifold Copper Gasket Cross Section
« on: 01 February 2017, 06:22:45 pm »
So, the copper gasket rings I've been supplied are round in section, whereas the ones which have come out are flat.  Also the new ones are about 2mm smaller in diameter.

Anybody fitted the same, and does it matter?

Cheers.

FZS600 Fazer / Stainless Downpipes
« on: 17 January 2017, 06:14:02 pm »
So, my new Motad downpipes have arrived, and to be honest I'm quite disappointed.  No doubt good quality and hopes are high they'll fit accurately, but the finish looks as if they've come straight off the welding rig and been boxed.  I expected them to be all polished and shiney.

If you've fitted stainless (especially Motad), were they polished to a decent level when you bought them?

Not sure how best to finish mine, I think there's too much to do for Autosol   :o

(also no gaskets/fitting kit included for £250!!)

FZS600 Fazer / Best Downpipes
« on: 08 January 2017, 02:21:51 pm »
Hello Peeps

So, after 15 years the original downpipes are finally holed.

What's the current thinking on the best stainless replacements, in terms of fitment and value?

I've read in back-posts that Delkevic can be slightly misaligned.  Anybody back this up or otherwise?

Motad seem to fit very well, but have gone bonkers with pricing; £300 !!

Anybody used Black Widow?

Cheers,
Andy

General / Automatic Camera Device
« on: 28 September 2015, 10:02:40 pm »
Couple of weeks ago I was caught speeding by a chap with a camera on a tripod.
Offer of fixed penalty has arrived, stating I was caught by an Automatic Camera Device.  I thought these were the yellow boxes on poles.  Surely mine was manned?

General / Un-flippin-believable
« on: 09 June 2015, 06:55:40 pm »
Got the Fazer MOT'd today.  The tester told me about an R1 he had in the other day, he pulled the front brake lever to do the pressure retention test and the lever broke off in his hand.  Turns out the owner had broken it off, and then GLUED IT BACK ON!!!  He still had the old lever, you could clearly see the glue.

So, I doubt this will be beaten, but what is the STUPIDEST thing you know of somebody doing to their bike?

General / Removing Filler Cap Without Key
« on: 04 June 2015, 08:10:43 pm »
So, I bought a used fuel tank (FZS600) and it arrived with the filler cap fitted and no key (and with fuel in!!)

How do you open/remove the cap without a key?  I'm cautious of drilling out the lock in case of sparks, am I being soft?

Cheers.

General / Cost to spray fuel tank
« on: 02 June 2015, 08:03:47 pm »
Anybody got an idea what I should be paying to have a fuel tank sprayed?  I believe it's deep purplish blue metalic C (i.e. blue), two stage plus lacquer.  Would need a small dent fixing to.

Any recommendations in Derbyshire?

Cheers

General / Matlock Bath Boycott?
« on: 01 June 2015, 07:31:27 pm »
Somebody has told me that bikers are boycotting Matlock Bath due to new parking charges?

Has anybody heard this, and where are folks gathering in Derbyshire now?

FZS600 Fazer / HELP!!!! Rear brake caliper piston won't seat
« on: 25 May 2015, 10:39:02 am »
ARRRGGGGHHH!!!  I've had the rear brake caliper stripped to clean up a sticking piston (wheel side), now the bugger won't go back in.  I can't get it past about 5-7mm sticking out.

Think I'm trapping the oil seal?  Any tips?

Bank Holiday and off the road, would appreciate help!!

Ta,
Andy

General / Scrap
« on: 03 April 2015, 01:07:36 pm »
I was going to take 3 car batteries and a couple of bike batteries to the local tip.  Would it be worth taking them to a scrappy instead?  Don't know how much you get these days.

General / DIY Tyre Change - Need Compressor?
« on: 19 March 2015, 05:55:33 pm »
So, finally getting around to changing my tyres (I bought the things MONTHS ago and haven't got round to it).

Will I be able to pop the bead in with a footpump (actually have a standey-upee-hand one but can't remember what it's called!) or will I need a compressor?

Cheers

General / MotoGP Bandwidth
« on: 01 December 2014, 06:41:28 pm »
Just taken a new broadband contract with BT, so now have access to MotoGP, Hooray!

I've got a 10GB monthly download limit.  Anybody know how much a MotoGP uses on a "device"?

Cheers.

General / Stirrup pump or Foot-pump
« on: 02 November 2014, 08:00:35 pm »
Need a new pump.  Thinking of a stirrup pump for a change, but not sure if they have the volume-per-pump of a foot-pump?  Anybody use a stirrup pump?

General / Wheel Balancing Stand

Any point buying a £50 one over a £20 one?  They're all basically a shaft and cones resting on bearings...

General / Post Office Broadband
« on: 09 September 2014, 08:48:25 pm »
After getting 6MBPS at any time of day for 5 years, my broadband suddenly started doing 6MBPS at 6am, reducing through the day to about 300Kbps.

After almost 4 months of doing speed tests for PO Broadband "Customer Service", they today said that as it's fine first thing it must be something in my house and they're not even going to try and fix it.  Yeah, my equipment, all of which has been replaced to try and fix this PITA, knows what time of day it is and decides to go slowly in the evening.

Complaint now with the Ombudsman for all the good it'll do  :(

FZS600 Fazer / An hour to kill
« on: 02 September 2014, 07:19:52 pm »
What can you do on a FZS600 in an hour?

Tonight changed oil and filter (Castrol Power 1 and K&N), air filter (K&N), new spark plugs including checking the gap (no need, spot on).  Bang on an hour.

General / DIY Tyre Replacement - Use rim sealer?

Going to have a crack at changing my tyres.  Anybody done it on tubeless tyres, and did you use a rim sealant?

Cheers.

FZS600 Fazer / K&N Air Filter
« on: 22 August 2014, 09:49:24 pm »
Thinking of fitting a K&N air filter as posts here and elsewhere say it improves midrange
1. Is this right?
2. Is it a direct swap, without the need to re-jet or mess with the carbs?
3. Are the filters washable like some of the car ones?

Ta  :)
