Starter motor is clicking but won’t start
« on: 15 September 2020, 05:50:40 pm »
Hi, my Fazer was left for 8 weeks. I took out the battery before. Charged it before putting it back but when I tried to start it it only makes clicking noise. I pushed it and it starts this way but now way it is starting with a button.
Could anyone help with this?

Try jump starting with jump leads to prove its not the battery. Just because its charged, doesnt mean it is holding the charge properly.
If it still has the same issue, its time to look at the starter relay and the starter motor.

It'll be the starter relay. 10 quid and half hours work.
Prove it by turning the ignition on press the starter and short the two large terminals on the top of the relay, the motor should spin and start.

It is the starter relay that is buzzing in the video. Usually a sign of a flat battery.

Try the jump start first. My money is on the battery being knackered.

If you need a battery, I've just dealt with a firm called Eurobatt. Excellent price and service including free next day delivery. Price for a Yuasa for my thou was nearly 20% less than Halfords.
