FZS600 Fazer / Re: Brake Calipers
« on: 19 August 2018, 04:37:08 pm »
thanks for the advice guys....I had the 1st go but didn't get it out, left it soaking in oil.  I read on different post on the form about people using the banjo bolts with a bleed nipple in the centre.  Has anyone else used these?

FZS600 Fazer / Brake Calipers
« on: 16 August 2018, 08:14:53 am »
I know that this has been a topic that has been discussed multiple times on this forum but......

last night I managed to snap off one of the bleed nipples on the rear caliper :'(.  I'm hoping that I should able to remove the portion of the nipple left in the caliper.  It snapped off level with the body of the caliper.
I also know that getting hold of a second hand caliper is next to impossible as is getting one for an early fzs1000 it seems.....and I don't really want to pay £400 for a new one.

SO my question in 2 parts is :
Are there any other options when it comes to calipers that will fit? (from other bikes/years)

Any tips for getting this broken one out.  I'm hoping that an extractor in the hollow bolt and maybe a bit of heat will work, I have been applying oil to the tread hoping to break the tension.  I don't really want to have to re-thread the hole as I'm not very good at it.

I know that there has been topics on the topic of coolent hoses before but I couldn't see the answer to my question....

has anyone attempted to swap the coolent hoses from another engine ie a 2003 fzs600 or an fzs1000 onto an 2001 fzs600????

« on: 23 December 2015, 10:01:27 am »
Morning Everyone,
Happy Christmas to all..........

does anyone know if there are any monoshocks off of bigger bikes (eg fazer1000) that use the same mounts as the 01 fzs600........one that would bolt straight on.....I need a new shock and just wondered if there was an easy upgrade.

thanks

« on: 29 March 2015, 12:18:36 am »
So.....i stripped the forks from my 01 fazer 600 so that i could oil change and seal change.
having got them in bits i discovered that ine topout spring is missing  :eek . So has been missing for about a year.

What i want to know is if anyone knows where i can get one from or what size it is if its just generic.  I tried ebay and google but didnt find anything. And the parts list i have seen show the same numbers for two bits and i dont know which is which  :'(

Hope someone can get me pointed in the right direction.

I ride all year round.  have done so for the last 5 years.  i rode my little 125 to work and back in 3inches of snow (very scary, but so much fun at the same time).

i have ridden my FZS600 in the snow too.  i dont have a car to its my transport so i ride in all weathers all year round.  if i can get the bike out of the garage and off the drive i will give it a go.

i think it all comes down to judgement, if the weather is really cold i make allowances, i leave bigger gaps take conering more sedatly and avoid using the brakes.

i saw some big "WARNING - WEEKEND RIDER" stickers on the web.  and a patch that reads "18 grand and 18 miles dont make you a biker"

im sure either of those would go down a storm

General / help (small oil leak)
« on: 16 November 2012, 02:31:45 pm »
Hi Guys

Anybody know if there is a gasket round by the rocker cover on an 01 fzs600, i seem to have a small leak from somwhere round that area.  the leak is above the plugs but below the silver bit ontop (sorry my mechanical knowlage is very new).  it seems to be a small leak as im not having to top the oil level up at all.

If it is a gasket, whats the proper name and where can i get one?

many thanks

« on: 23 October 2012, 05:44:39 pm »
Im getting mine Vinyl wrapped. rather than a respray.

if you can find a place near you that does it then it may be cheaper than a repaint.

its only a vinyl coating that goes ontop of the old paint work.  it can be done in any colour or design you wish

HI Guys

Im new to the neighbourhood.  I bought my FZS600 coming up 4 years ago when, before that I was riding a Suzuki VanVan 125.  My bike has had a few bits done to it since I got it.  I got a bigger screen, new down pipes, K&N filters, better plugs, a pannier rack, new can.  Apart from that the rest is normal.  I will put a pic up when I get chance to find one.

Im from Dartford in Kent, just down by the infamous bridge and tunnel of the same name.  Seemed like a good idea to join to pool info and find places and go and stuff like that.

I ride with a local MCC, and we do ride outs and rallies, we host our own rally at Easter (which I will put the poster up for closer to it) as well as a bike show in the summer.
