Rear fuel tank bolt
« on: 28 December 2011, 12:46:00 am »
Hello,

So I've just finished servicing the Gf's bike and I seem to have come unstuck on putting the bracket back on that the fuel tank sits on (seat end). I seem to remember unscrewing the two bolts but don't remember retrieving any nuts or a plate that was underneath securing it to the frame. I've shaken the bike like mad, tipped it over pretty far both sides and not even a rattle to suggest theres anything dropped down anywhere and the garage floor is clear.

Have I lost something or is there nothing to loose and I'm just being a twit and doing something wrong..?

Any Ideas?

Here's a pic of the bracket I mean.

Any help will be more than welcome!

Many Thanks,

Ben

Have you got the parts microfiche downloaded form this site so you can identify the part you need?

I can't see the pic but if I remember rightly Its like a flat piece of metal with 2 nuts welded on it, fits with the rubber boot cover that is around the air box, it will be there somewhere.

Also for next time you only have to undo the long allen key bolt on that bracket to get the tank off and not take the whole bracket off.

Cheers Griff - I was changing the air filter, hense taking the bracket off to access the rubber boot. I'll have a scout about the site now for the microfile and see if I can identify the part.

Cheers,

Ben

Griff many thanks for yours parts catalogue - I've identified the part and am just trying to track it down in my local yamaha garages.

Cheers,

Had the plate got stuck to the rubber? Dropped down the side of the battery compartment? Seems rather a big bit of metal to lose!
FWIW, I did the same task on mine yesterday: the rubber boot can be slipped off the frame pins and folded far enough out of the way to gain access to the air filter without undoing the tank mount bracket.
