I used to wander all over Scotland and never booked anything, though always just off season.

I'm older, lazier and better off these days so I tend to book accommodation.

Tourism in Scotland does appear to be going through something of a boom in recent years.  The internet age seems to have given it a boost, and more recently the weak pound.

There’s been a big boost in tourism in the far north as a result of the NC500.  Plus Skye seems to be bonkers from April through to the end of October these days.

You should be OK in May, bar Skye, but then I’m not quite sure how big the NC500 effect really has been.

I did NC500 last September. Took a tent, and from what I could see all B&B accommodation was fully booked well in advance. But in the very north B&Bs are few and far between and expensive, and as VNA has said the NC500 has become over popular.

Brilliant route you've got mapped there johnakay!

I've been all over Scotland as a  "munro bagger" and I can recommend this website for cheap accommodation.

Don't let the word bunkhouse or hostel put you off, a lot of them are real hidden gems.

Just bought The Motorcyclist's Guide to Scotland, ISBN 978-1-9996357-0-1. It's quite a recent publication, and will certainly be useful for any trip planning.

I did the NC500 last year as well. Hired a camper in the end (what a ball ache on those narrow roads). Most B and Bs were booked when we went as well but that was July time.

I’m based from Dumbarton anyway so I can suggest some decent places local to here if that’s any help for you 👍🏻

Abbotsford is a nice hotel. Easy to find as well as it’s right on the main road 👍🏻
