(idea stolen from another forum)
apart from riding it to/from work, today I fiddled with the screen height, tweeked the fog light angles, and booked a 6000mile service. what did you do to yours?
(ok, this wasn't today, its not a fazer, but does show the lights and screen. you get the idea)
-
Stripped the rear suspension to it's component parts - greased and refitted.
-
Walked past it :(
-
Thrashed it. :) (well a bit)
-
posted on 3 identical threads lol
-
Looked at it thru the shed window.......the bike was in the shed not me..just in care there IS a smart ass out there... :b
-
Wiped my finger across the black grime on the back wheel and thought it could be with a clean. So I went inside and cleaned my finger. And I rode it to work and back.
Yesterday evening I cleaned two mag wheels, a Metmachex swigarm and bew the dust off a Z650 engine that I've sold.
-
Took it to Stevie to ask about new boots and came home with Pilot Road 3's fitted, noticed my pannier rail has cracked and generally added to her abuse.
Swore that I'd spend tomorrow figuring out if it's the ballast that's gone or if my reggy/rec is goosed.
-
Replaced the seals in the left hand caliper.
Spent bloody ages trying to get the air out.
Took it for a very gentle shakedown run to start bedding the pads into the new EBC discs and scrub in the tyres.
Tried not to think about the £460 all that lot cost .
-
Snapped a spark plug in two. Sadly one part is still in the head! Best advice so far is to try a stud extractor. Professional repair could cost more than the bike is worth in cold hard cash (of course it's priceless to me).
-
Nothing - thought about where I will go if it's nice sunny morning tomorrow. Cheddar gorge is top of the list at the moment.
-

Smashed the rear light lense against a shoe rack on the wall in the garage - I was gutted 'till I read this and realised how much less bother my problem is - best of luck Slimted. :'(

How did you manage to do that?

-
Took it for an MOT. Passed. :D
-
Washed it, cleaned and lubed the chain, checked the tyre pressures, put the optimate on it.
Oh yes, another day of my life in the fast lane!
-
Opened the shed and gave it a start, first time in about a month, might go out for a wee spin later.
-
Rode it and Garaged it, nice..
-
took the front forks offin an attempt to stop them leaking, 1200 wet & dry and some araldite should do that bit, removed the clutch and ref counter cable and removed the decompression cable as well ready to remove the side cover for a new clutch when it arrives, not on a fazer or anything even close to being that new, it's on the XL185 ;)
-
Yesterday rode it up to Wallington (S.London) via the A24 and A25 which was pretty good fun. Today rode to Southampton and back on the M27 which was boring!
-
Nothing- I am 150 miles away from it in the car :'(
I did ride it a few times last week though commute- 10 miles in on a deadline and 40 miles home
-
Took of the HID kit, adjusted the headlight alignment, adjusted the spotlight alignment, figured out the cheap LED indicator on the rhs has gone pop, got confused as me scottoiler seems to have started working again and generally wound up the neighbours by revving past 7.5k to see if it was a ballast problem or reggy/rec problem.
:D
-
pushed out of garage to clean, lube, check tyres etc. forgot about it put it away
again about 20 minutes ago. might do tyres and chain in a bit but can't be arsed
-
Felt abit bad for it when I got off at work and realised it could do with a good cleaning, forgot about how dirty it was the minute I turned my back, will probably realise how dirty it is again on the way home tonight.
-
(Saturday am) - thought about washing it - though better of it (it looks like a courier hack) - lubed chain :z
(Sunday pm) - caned the fook oot of it for 2 hrs - :woot upset (woke up) a few ramblers :evil - grinned from ear to ear and laughed inanely in helmet - put it away (dirty) 8)
-
- I've just fitted my Hotgrips and Oxford muffs to my FZS600 ready for when it goes properly cold.
- I also adjusted the chain and realised that it's pretty cacked (30,000+ now so not surprised)
- I also noticed that the front wheel bearings are shagged and it'll be unsafe to ride, a good bit of freeplay going on there....BOLLOX!!!
Haven't got the time to faff with replacing the bearings myself so booked into a garage for the weekend. Ah well :rolleyes
-
nowt went fishin
-
Plugged in the Optimate and adjusted the clock to GMT :)
-
Took her out for a blast along the mean streets of toryglen. Loaded the boot with baby food, nappies & wipes, then put her back in the garage & lubed the chain :D
L
But she was in a thousand serviceable pieces this time last week
-
Changed oil and filter (yamalube - good stuff it seems!) pulled clutch apart to check springs and plates (all good) adjusted clutch at engine end, pulled off exhausts for a pre-winter clean, patch and spray (need stainless very soon), put back on with plenty of copper grease on the header bolts so they come off again next time! Cleaned rear calliper and checked pads for wear, adjusted, cleaned and lubed chain....then had a cuppa and went for a quick spin through Windsor great park!!
-
satday - worked all day so no biking ! - doh. was a bit miffed cos weather was nice.
sun- weather was damp initially , but brightened up. Took the speed triple out for a good blast , first ride for a couple of weeks. Spent most of ride mulling over the fact it was exactly 5 yrs since my big crash ( on same road) and whether or not I am gonna change the bike for something new ! Came home safe and sound though.Still completely undecided too ! But I have now done 11k miles on her since buying new 2 yrs ago...so I either pay big money to get the 12k service done ( £400+) or think of part exing ...I do fancy a change, but the sheer bonkersness of this bike still keeps me smiling . Every time I wap that throttle past 6k rpm she just wails man ! The stubby handling nature of the bike both rewards and frustrates at the same time.Maybe its the sort of character which while dont always make sense, is the reason we love a bike ????
-
After 4 months I finally completed my Fazer 1000 respray.
All that's left now is re-assembly, new braided hoses, chain + sprockets, Akra can etc etc etc
-
took Tigger in for a 6000mile service and map update. got a street triple as a loaner to get me to/from work. fiesty little beast so it is. although not really able to test it out on the M8 other than blowing off a lotus elise round the cardonald bend. :lol
-
hi gringo
would you be tempted to get a street triple then ? Is it comparable to ur 800?...or have you got the 800 for its off roady capability.
I ask cos tbh I fancy trying one of these bikes. If I could lower the suspension a bit on the 800 I reckon I would get one. It just feels quite tall for me, whereas the street is much lower.I really was taken with the handling of the 800, and I bet its good doing a tour too.Th estreets attraction i sit shandling and sheer fun factor, but the 800 ha sgot that potential off roading ability which I do find very appealing too.
cheers
-
not as a sole bike, but would consider it as part of a stable if I ever got the opportunity. never been a knee down chin on tank rider. but it might be nice to have the option. power delivery was fun though -bit more urgent that the 800 but wasnt as manic as I'd expected. couldn't live with the cramped knees for long though, and I like long trips.
my tiggerXC is part chelsea tractor, part landy. ie I intend to green lane/forest trail with it but it'll be once in a blue moon. its having the option if the chance is there.
I love the smooooth torque curve which can feel flat coming from a more hightly tuned engine, but then you realise it can pull from low in any gear with no snatch whatsoever. the riding position is great for me too - I've got the seat on high and can't always flat foot both sides - but that's only a problem when your stopped :lol
still getting used to it when filtering in heavy traffic due to the wide bars which exaggerate movements. not bad, just different, even to the renthal 758s I had on the Thou.
check out the tiger800 forum, there's plenty folks who have lowered their tigers - both versions. give it a look, Mick is the man making the bits.
-
had a link pipe custom made incorparating the exup valve for my gen 2 thou so best of both worlds pulls like a train to the redline but no fluffynes below 6k.i bought an arrow can on ebay of a zx10 and a tatty std fazer can for the valve and a local genius fabbed me a link pipe 8)
-
Over the weekend did a deep clean in preparation for winter:
-dismantled exhaust, removed rear wheel and rear suspension
- cleaned and greased all suspension parts
- stripped and greased exup
- removed, cleaned and greased brake calipers
- thorough degrease, clean and ACF50 application to engine etc.
- reassembled
Went for a blast to disperse copious smoke emanating from heated ACF50 !
-
Realised, whilst riding in to work this morning, that the bike became a teenager today.
Thirteen happy years and 136,000 miles together. :)
-
that's good going. so its a keeper then?
-
Popped my head in the garage to see if they were still there, yippee, they were.
Decided at lunch I would finaly wash my CCM ( not that it needed it ) and take some photo's so I can put up a proper for sale advert.
Started them up ( first press of the button ) and left running for a while.
Now I'm itching for a go.
-
Not raining, not too cold, afternoon off, Mrs. still at work, I feel a thrash coming on...

Had to bump start it as not ridden it for a week!!! :'( not fun at 630am!! but once it was running put it on side stand on full choke whilst I put my jacket lid & gloves on!! lol wonder what neighbours will say when I get home tonight!!! :lol
-

-

-
just gazed at it,and gazed and gazed, and gazed :D :)

-
Dunno how to tell you this Dave, but that frame looks a bit rusty to me.
:pokefun
-
No worries I have some white B&Q white emulsion under the stairs that will sort that lovely
-
;)
:thumbup
Thought about using sand-textured paint?
Should help you get a grip on the frame with your ludicrously outsized pins.
:D
-
Gave mine its probly last run of the year, got a new fairing in the shed so the bikes off the road. New fairing going on over the long dark uns, total rear strip doon, bearings etc greased, front sussies off for a check over and fresh oil, oil and filter and hopefully the shites off the roads and the days are getting lomger and shes good for the sunmer. Then its more than the thousand miles I've done this last year.
-
Just serviced my fzs600's fzs1000 rear caliper, popped the pistons out and red rubber greased them, stripped and cleaned the seals, copper greased all the bolts, went really well.. Treated myself to a set of genuine yamaha rear pads too.
Lovely!
-
Sold it !!
-
Put a streetfighter screen on it! :)

washed headlight and rear light, I say washed, it was more of a damp kitchen roll thing
-
changed my clutch slave cover and gave it a bit of a clean,
-
Sprayed up new cylinder head, cleaned pistons, ordered some more bits from AJ Sutton. My brother says it will never run again. I will prove him wrong! :lol
-
washed it, and hers too. knackered now
-
Discovered what the beak is for- stopping a bow wave coming over the front on river crossings. I rode through a 2ft flood trying to get out of town this morning. Was a bit hairy, especially as there was a strong cross flow as the water gushed out from a park gateway onto the road. There were other floods but none as bad. Quite chuffed with myself.
Glad I decided to wear my goretex Sidis too rather than the shorter Altbergs.
-
Finally completed re-assembly after paint job (front indicators are b******s through fairing lowers!)
Fitted new Akrapovic pipe and Evotech tail tidy :thumbup :thumbup :thumbup

so nothing's been happening since December? shame.
-
Washed it, broke it, washed it again and currently waiting for forkoil OIL FOR FORKS to arrive before I start the spring clean on her.
How's the black eye btw Gringo?
;)
-
Lowered the front forks through the yokes by 15 mm, looks like rain, went out anyway overcooked it on a roundabout, front slid out on me, leg out, kicked it back up, thought that'll teach me, took it home gonna wait for it to be dry.
-
Went to the BSB with the girl friend. She's still not talking to me :lol
Also, really need to wash all the filth of the bike :\
-
Rode it for once and got my eldest to wash it before allowing him to ride it into the garage.
-
took the back end apart to see about tidying it up, confirmed the undertray is not standard for my model, peeled most of the old stickers off and found out why they were there, looked around for a touch up kit :rolleyes
-
eye is fine. bollocks are still smarting though.
on the bright side, bike passed 10000 miles today
-
eye is fine. bollocks are still smarting though.
That don't sound good Gringo.
On the bike thing, I'm getting a bit fed up owning one without a centre stand as it's a pain when cleaning :thumbdown
-

wiped it back in November
-
MOT and new tyres today. Feeling lightheaded with a much lighter wallet

Oil and filter change today, te side fairing I put on made getting at the filter a real pain!
-
As I've been unwell for a while I took it put for a short trip to the coast just to get some sea air.
-
Fitted an R1 gear shift joint. Makes for a much shorter lever throw. :)
-
Took the bike for the M.O.T. today and managed to avoid getting wet. Naturally it passed.
A nice looking bike that was being tested when I arrived failed because the rear brake pads were practically on the metal! Beats me why anyone would let them get that bad, but especially not to check them before the M.O.T. :\
-

-
Fitted some crash bungs...... hope I'm not tempting fate!

-
Fitted some crash bungs...... hope I'm not tempting fate!
I didnt bother with those initially, then fell off at 20mph and did some damage. I haven't crashed a bike I've bunged up.
-
Left it in the shed! :o :o :o
-
Fitted heated grips
Fitted Optimate lead and Optimate 12v socket (neat bit of kit)
Text book exup lube and cable adjustment
Long overdue front and rear suspension adjustment to suit my...ahem, build

Today.
Rode it to work and back. Nice. :D
-

Today I rode with another Fazer rider, who mistook my friendliness for 'LETS RACE'
Attaching a helmet cam tomorrow. :-)
-
Picked it up after buying it the other day :D
-
I removed the top fairing and radiator ends and repaired the damage done by the previous owner, a bit of plastex, primer, paint and laquer and they are now looking like new again.
Plus I removed the radiator/rad cover and fan and repainted them too as they were looking a bit scruffy.
Its taken all day to do but well worth the effort, should have taken some before and after pics.
-
I ain't gonna wash it/polish it/stick shitey bits on it
I'm gonna lube it's chain, check it's oil etc, check it's tyres etc
then ride t'fuck out of it for a few 'ouers
-
I have done absolutey nothing to my bike as at the moment I can't lift a screwdriver let alone hold onto the handlebars
-
Put mine together yesterday. Had a stupid streetfighter headlamp when I got it, but I've fibreglassed up the broken faring and put it all back to standard. Looks battered but still 100x better than it was.
Before:

Now:

Just got the remove the silly red bits. The genius who painted those bits managed to paint the fuel filler shut and get paint in the lock too.
-
Pictures didn't work, here they are.
-
Sorry but I didn't ride it but I did get it out, wash it, clean the chain and lube it. Tomorrow I might polish it.

-
Lawrence are you interested in selling that "stupid streetfighter" headlamp? :)
Yes, got all the bits except two bolts that I re-used in fitting the faring. I've also got the bar end mirrors if you're interested ;)
PM me if you're interested.

-
Washed it after a filthy ride last week and ready for another ride on Friday when it WILL be sunny
-
Stripped of the back end, checked re-greased all the bearings, bloody good clean; put it all back together then fitted new chain and sprockets :D
-
Did the usual commute in the usual miserable weather.
-
Nothing today but yesterday I did 200 miles around mid Wales - brillaint
-
Yesterday cleaned & lubed chain, fuelled up ready for today! Only thing prevented me riding yesterday had a friend visit & we went & he bought a crash helmet. Did his CBT the other day & hes joining the ranks shortly! :lol
-
Deep cleaned it.....
Might last more than a couple of days this time
-
Today I am picking it up from the bike hospital. . . . . .
Hopefully I won't have to take the bloody thing in for a while.
-
Replaced the throttle cables - and if I'd known what a stupendous fag it was going to be to the carbs out I might not have bothered...
All sorted now tho - looking forward the Isle of Man...
-
changed the front tyre on the bike for the first time :D went for a continental motion :lol
-
went for a continental motion
I've had the same.
I think you get it from eating too much foreign food
-
Rode it, then washed it.
-
Looks good and clean that.
I relocated my Scottoiler to under the seat. All ready for a day out on it tomorrow.
-
Went on a Slow Riding/ Machine Control morning with my local IAM group which was great fun and very useful.
This afternoon I'm off for a ride with a friend :)
-
Went to France ,Italy ,Switzerland & back home 6 days 2500 miles corbin seat best purchase ever :)
-
Oil change and wash, sounds and looks sweeter now.
Don't think much of Silkolene Fuchs Off,,, it didn't.
-
Today I gave my new love a quick clean and took the chance to give her a proper look over.
It appears that the forks have been dropped by 10mm or so, will need to measure to be sure.
The only thing I want to change, so far, is the header bolt nice stainless ones me thinks. In fact one has went missing and been replaced with a regular nut. I'm also thinking about a radiator cover also.
Also done my first mod. Velcroing an old watch to the console.
-
Give the bike a final check over before MOT tomorrow night
-
Rode to the petrol station to fuel up for work.
-
KangaStu came over to mine and we did a carb balance and TPS check on his Fazer.
Brake caliper strip down and clean on my Gen2 (its first proper wash since September).
MOT on Wednesday.
-
went for a ride for an hour or so then checked the brake / oil / coolant levels this evening and lubed the chain ready for the next run :)
-
Rode to work- 10 quick miles :rolleyes
Rode home from work 30 quick miles ;)
Setting up my baby video camera so I can see through the screen and the speedo ready for my Bikesafe and Castle Combre track time week Saturday :)
-
MOT - it passed with flying colours, natch.
-
Picked it up :)
After 3 yrs, I'm now back on 2 wheels :D
-
Congratulations :)
-
Oil and filter changed
-
Dropped a surfboard on it.
I was rearranging my fishing rods which are strung on hooks in the roof of my garage and managed to dislodge my trusty 7'6'' gun which crashed down on the bike. The Fazer was undamaged but the board has a few dings in it. :eek
Just before I shoved the board back up I had a couple of rose tinted minutes recalling those carefree days spent at Newquay, Perranporth and Rossilli, long, long ago. My board was shaped in Oz 'for Bali juice' so it says in pencil on the foam underneath the glass, which sports an excellent Lost Boys paint jobbie. That's where I bought it -at Uluwatu, Bali in 1992 during a six month sojourn of Indo breaks. Ah, heady days of gettin stoked on Kuta reef, massages on the beach, those golden sunsets, Bintang beer and perhaps an opium bong in the late evening to send me off in my hammock. :evil
On monday, I'l be joining all the other sad cunts streaming into London for the 9-5. What happened.........
-
Don't talk like that Phil, I too have many fond memories of the past...including Newquay...otherwise not quite so exotic as yours. I also have 9-5 on Monday....what did we do wrong :\
-
i washed it :eek
at this rate it will get more washes than my car ever did :)
-
Trip to Oford and back. Lovely bright hot weather but the wind was really gusting and it was tiring 2 up. Back there again tomorrow but in the car. The joys of looking at accomodation for your kids.
-
Picked up my new FZ8 Fazer 8) .
-
Washed it and tried Motul's Shine and Go polish.
Bloody hell it works really well, the bikes now got that "wet look" and the engine comes up superb!
Top tip: take the seat off first before applying as riding it after, with just a touch of over spray on the seat was like trying to ride a bananna boat covered in baby oil.

Just finished fitting the seat belt in my Fazers sidecar. Easy, just time consuming.
