The hill in the pic above is Skiddaw, near Keswick. I daren't head any higher into the hills at the moment in case of ice, so I just keep doing this little run for now. Helps to have the cafe in Keswick for a coffee and warm up! From home, a blast through Carlisle centre, making loads of noise  :lol , then A595, great fun blasting past the cars and some nice bends if you get them clear, then tighter bends down the 591 to Keswick. Not as good as the best Welsh roads, but fun all the same.

Haven't started the DRZ for a few weeks now. Went to start it in preparation for a Greenlane outing today and battery didn't quite have the guts to start it.
Borrowed this bit of kit from my brother and I've got to say, I was impressed.
Apparently, this can jump start a transit van. I'm not convinced but a handy sized emergency jump pack nevertheless.
To give you an idea of the size of this, that is a two pence piece in the second picture.
The power unit itself, is the same size as a mobile phone.  :eek

Often thought of buying something similiar myself, there seem to be a lot of different ones out there, but the thing that stops me is the thought of how long it would hold its charge and when I had to use it would not work .

That looks a great bit of kit Dazza.  Bonkers how much power can be in such a small piece of kit.

Today I replaced the 8 spark plugs on my Jazz, what happened to the good old days of 4 spark plugs presenting themselves nicely at the front of your engine?

The Jazz has four at the front and four at the back, it's a faff but no problems!  :D   (See, I can do a job without focing it up, maybe it's just the bike I have issues with.....  :\ )
Money doesn't buy happiness, but it buys beer, and that helps!

Well that's weird... can't say I've heard of that sort of configuration on a 4 cylinder before

But I know the pain as 3 of mine on my V6 are right up against the firewall and are an utter bitch to get to

Today, did the Keswick/Borrowdale/Honister/Buttermere/Whinlatter/Keswick loop. I wrapped up so much, I was actually too warm at times. And found my old cold-killers inner gloves before going, which worked a treat inside Spada Enforcer gloves.

Borrowdale:

I think that's called Sergeant's Crag:

If you walk to the foot of it, then swing around it to the right, the path takes you up towards Angle Tarn and you can go on to Bow Fell from there. I did it the other way around a few years ago, starting at Langdale, and camping down below the tarn.

Heading up towards the Honister Pass:

And at the cafe car park:

Slate sculpture:

One of the things I love about the Lake District is you don't have to walk far above the roads and car parks to get some really stunning views:

Although I have definitely lost my hill-fitness!
Yeah, I know, I've posted this view before, but it's a favourite of mine  :) :

I had been a bit concerned about the possibility of ice on this loop, but in actual fact the roads were all dry, and very little run-off from the hills. Past Buttermere and you go past Crummock Water:

There's a great walk I did above here. Starting with Whiteless Pike:

You carry on up onto, I think, Eel Crag, then turn to cross a broad, high plain, which takes you to the top of Grasmoor:

From which you get some really spectacular views all the way to Scafell on a good day, with ridge after ridge in between.
Also viewed from hereabouts, Red Pike:

From the Buttermere side, a bit of a desperate scramble on very loose, steep scree towards the top!

A last shot looking back down the road before heading for the cafe and home:

Had to go to Ambleside in the car today went over hardknot pass because the road is closed at dunmail rise and was surprised at the lack of ice

Had a fairly long route planned today, but felt I needed to allow time for the passes to defrost a bit. Then, by the time I'd given the chain a clean and lube, didn't get away till gone mid-day.

First stop was for coffee in Keswick, then blatted along the A66 to go down by Ullswater, but road closed before Pooley Bridge, so had to turn around, head back a ways, and head in on a different road. Ullswater shots:

Got lost in the woods  :lol

A quick run to the top of the Kirkstone Pass:

I was going to go down to Ambleside, then Coniston, and across Birker Fell to Wastwater, but it was 4pm by the time I got to Kirkstone, so had to admit defeat and turn back. Oh well, these longer runs will have to wait until the weather warms up a bit.

I never get tired of it. The roads in the Lake District aren't the most fun, as far as hooning it goes, but enjoyable in a different way. I'm looking forward to summer when I can get exploring the Pennines and Scotland more too.

Paul, you'd always be welcome to stop by here, but I'll be away for a bit from the end of May. You'll know on here when I'm back though.

Looks like your greenhouse needs a good scrubbing too mate.
If you worried about falling off your bike, you'd never get on.
