FZS600 Fazer / Re: rear brake disk
« on: 26 June 2015, 04:55:59 pm »
I recently buggered a back wheel by trying to get the disc off. I did the recommended heat up with a blow torch to soften the loctite stuff, used an impact driver and still ended up snapping the heads off the bolts. Seems to me that Mr Yamaha really dropped a bollock when he thought that open ended steel bolts in a alloy wheel would be a sensible configuration. Now I have to buy another wheel and I intend to replace the steel bolts with something firmer, possibly titanium or unicorn horn. It still boggles my small brain that the japs still use the cheapest crap to bolt their wonderful machines together. Piss and moan, piss and moan etc  :'(

Shouted at her, cursed her, kicked her back wheel. And all because I cant get the rear disc mounting bolts off so I can change the disc. Not her fault but my dog runs too fast to allow me to kick him instead and the wife would just kick me back lol  :lol

FZS600 Fazer / Rear Disc Mounting Bolts
« on: 16 June 2015, 05:52:48 pm »
First of all thanks to all who chipped in with ideas regarding my rear caliper issues. Most helpful and in the end I managed to resolve the problem. Cheers  :) . And now, another problem that I would like some advice on. I have recently aquired a second hand but in very good condition rear disc.  My one is the original and is well past it's best by date, in fact it was badly scored when I bought the bike many many years ago. I was advised to put sintered pads on and eventually they will wear away the worst of the damage, which happily enough they did. However, now it is time to replace the disc and I am buggered if I can get the mounting bolts to budge even a millimetre. I have used impact drivers, impact wrenches, releasing oil (silkopen), wf40 but no joy at all. Does anyone have any ideas as to how I can get them off ? The bike is well old now, registered in 2000 and I bought it in 2004 and its an everyday bike so its seen plenty of bad weather and miles. Please HELP  :'(

FZS600 Fazer / Np Pressure in Rear Brake
« on: 10 June 2015, 05:14:31 pm »
Hello guyz, just like to pick your collective brains. A long time ago I replaced the standard rear caliper on my boxeye with the fazer 1000. I have had no problems with it until recently when I noticed and increasing sponginess and lack of feel from the pedal. I though I should give it a good looking at as the MOT was due anyway. Well I changed the pads, changed the caliper seals and bleed nipples, give everything a good clean and replaced the brake fluid. Should have brakes like newI thought. WRONG. I can get almost no pressure at all in the pedal. have tried adjusting pedal travel and height and re-bled the brakes about 6 times. Nothing seems to be making any difference. Could the master cylinder seals be shot or am I missing something ? Any help would be mucho appreciated. Cheers  :'(

Well I am sat here at home reading about the ivanising that went on yesterday and the improvement it makes to the bike and I am both happy and a bit sad. Happy because more of the guys and gals here have had their bikes tweaked and sad because I was supposed to have have mine done this very day but unfortunately circumstances dictated it was not to be. I hope that sometime in the not too distant future, I too will have a grin as big as a cheshire cat's as I drive away into the sunset on my newly ivanised bike thanking the gods, ivan and of course mike the 2main man".

What are they and where do you find a pic ? :rolleyes

Do these just bolt on without any fannying around ? The reason I ask is I have a stainless stell radiator guard and the standard plastic guards look a bit naff in comparrison. Are there any fitting issues or anything I should know ? Cheers.  :)

Mine seized about 3 years ago, tried to get a second hand one but early 600 ones are hard to source so I put on a gen 1 1000 caliper with a few minor mods.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Winter Corosion on Alloy
« on: 27 January 2015, 07:37:46 pm »
Brain Picking Time. usually ride my box eye 600 in winter but due 2 some prick jamming on his anchors and me clipping him and being sent downward rather hard I have had to switch to my summer toy (gen 1 1000) whilst I scour the tinternet and other places for replacement bits for old faithful. I have been out and about on the thou in all weather for the last 2 months now and the alloy bits are starting to became a little furry. Apart from Autosol and a lot of elbow grease, does anyone have any other, hopefully better suggestions as to how I can return the afore mentioned alloy bits to their former glory. Here's hoping. Cheers and thanks in advance.  :thumbup
