The free 'diesel' gloves available free from most petrol stations, when worn as an inner glove .... The only solution I've ever found for 'waterproof'.

Just had a look at your map. I did the NC500 last month, and most of your route. When you do the Applecross and Lochinver loops be careful as these are very narrow single track roads with passing places but lots of blind bends. Be careful of sheep, Highland cattle and worse of all f***ing locals in muddy landrovers who don't give way to anybody.
Enjoy the road through Blairgowrie, Glenshee and Braemar. It's a cracker  8)

I did Belach Na Ba 4 weeks ago, no problem. Well apart from the crap car drivers who couldn't take a hairpin without doing a 3 point turn. Recommend it's ridden from the Applecross side, west to east. Then you get the best view down

Went on one of my IAM ride outs last week and a few of the group have pristine TDM 900s. Apparently there's a fan club that love them more than we love Fazers. I think not! Or perhaps it's just a Yamaha thing  :rolleyes

Came back to biking in 99 and bought a 600 Bandit. Mistake. Only bought it because I'd had Suzukis before, never had a Yamaha. Situation resolved when it was written off and this time I read reviews, and a Foxeye 600 it was. Never looked back. What a fantastic bike it is still, 14 years and 46k later.
Got 3 bikes now, a Speed Triple and a Tiger, but if I had to just have one..... the Fazer of course.

Thanks for the tip off. Fairly near me and would make a nice trip out with Southwold and Aldeburgh 8)
Does this mean the 400/4 is nearly back on the road?  :)

Long time ago, but think mine's MRA. They're all basically the same shape, so your might want to look at Pyramid, Skidmarx etc. Make sure you order the 02/03 not the 98/01.

Don't think so....

I've got a 03 600 and 5' 10''. I find a double bubble sends the wind nicely over the top of me. Much better than the standard screen which gave a fair bit of turbulence.

Midge season should be over by now. Anyway, Ophelia will have blown any remaining ones to Norway

Are we talking 03 600 or a thou? You're no showing which in your profile.

Are you going Fort William to JOG via Inverness and up the east side, or via Ullapool, Durness up the west and top? Highly recommend the west side. I did it a couple of weeks ago. Fantastic scenery. Also when coming back to Edinburgh, use the road across the Grampians via Braemar, Glenshee and Blairgowrie. Recommended by someone on here, and it is fantastic.

Yes take waterproofs.....

Another tip, pinch some of those 'diesel gloves' from petrol stations to wear under your sopping wet bike gloves  :(

Think it was the 1300 that had instability problems.
That's what I'd heard.... from a ST1100 owner

Interesting BBrown re LRUC. I was involved in that too, from the other side of the fence, shall we say. Must swap notes sometime
 ;)
Trouble with vignettes is they have to be enforced, and for that you need people. Just look at the number of foreign cars and lorries avoiding the Dartford Tunnel charge. Is it enforced?
Soon all new bikes cars and lorries with have black boxes and GPS, and you will be charged based on where you travel, how far and at what time. Yet another reason for keeping an old Fazer  :)

Pffft it's nothing. Try a Tiger 800 (or any adventure bike) if you want to know the meaning of 'top heavy' :-)

Or in emergency, use a pair of the 'diesel gloves' you can get free at most petrol stations. They also allow you to get your hands smoothly back into wet gloves if you have to take them off.
