Took the FZS600 out for a gentle run down to Loomies Cafe near Winchester this arvo.
Cracking afternoon, brilliant sunshine with the slightest hint of a chill in the air.

Met another Fazer FZS600 rider there chatted about bikes and the common love of the FZS600, his was an X reg Boxeye in metalic blue, pristeen nick with just 9K on the clock. he purchased it from a dealer 6 months ago at a fair price considering the condition.
He has a slight blow from the collector box and is thinking about going down the S/Steel route to replace the pipes.
Anyway we were both leaving at the same time so we had a spirited blast along the A272 back to Petersfield, where we both headed onto the A3 heading towards London, that was the point he decided to give up and fell back so I rode on alone.
When I got home that was when I realised that my 3/4" chicken strips are now down to 1/2" Woo! Woo! it was a spirited ride.

Someone once said to me always ride within your comfort zone, but, I have realised that is not right, if you do that you never get any better, like an athlete, if you train within your comfort zone that is as good as you are going to get, the same applies to riding a motorcycle, push yourself but in a controlled manner.
Any way shut the Foc up tommyardin and get some pics of that blue Boxeye up here.

Fazer99
what do you mean:
'2 wheels are better than 4'
4 wheels means you have two Fazers.
I rest my case :D :fish

Very true, but you can only ride 1 at a time  :lol

That is also very true.

Got that sorted
Gave it a thorough wash and polish, trimmed the pubes, clipped toe nails, ready for the off tomorrow. I've booked a couple of Boys in Scotland  :)

Well, apart from your quotes  :rollin

"Would you like another cup of tea vicar?"
"No thank you, but I'll have another choir boy, because this one's split.  :)  "

 :stop

Well there is nothing I can either
add or say to that. But what I have just done is 'push the boat out' Enough of me talking the talk, I am now walking the walk,Just ordered the Nitron R1 Mono-shock (Nitron Blue Spring) for the FZS600 Foxy.Looking into the emulators for the front end, and, wondering if I have what it takes to complete the task.I am OK with drilling out the holes and drilling new ones in the damper rods as I have access to a Pedestal/Pillar drill.I did a year of engineering when I first left school, capstan lathe, large flat bed lathe with manual centering chuck, Mag table grinder, Mill and Shaper. Mind you that was when I just left school (15) as I said and Noah had just got off the ark then, but i think I am up to the challenge.I am also going to be daring as I am not going to buy a second hand set of replacement Damper Rods. Many thanks to Kabab for all the info that he has made available on the forum either directly or through links.

The one from the rear of the bucket looks like something out of Star Wars or a really pissed off Teddy Bear.

Looks like the Maffia are back in town. LOL!

I too tried a number of flip front buckets from £130 up to £300 plus.
The one I went for in the end was the 'LS2 FF393 Convert' bit pricey at £219, but, what I really liked about this bucket is that the flip front goes right over the top of the helmet and levels out just above the base of your neck at the back, so no wind drag what-so-ever and it the looks like an open faced space type helmet.
I tried a couple of other flips but anything above 60 MPH with the flip up dragged my head backwards and buffeted the Foc out of my head, plus so much wind noise, cos the flip when it was up caused a shed full of turbulence.
Only downside with any flip is it does weigh a tad more than a standard closed face jobby and is a little on the larger side. (Can you say that a 'LITTLE on the LARGER side')
I have retained my old Duchini cos its an old friend, and has never bounced up the road.
Had the LS2 for two years now and really pleased with it.

Stuff the double D ring fastening I just love the ratchet buckle type fastening.

The other good thing about a Flip is that Garages are not so opposed to then as the are full closed faced helmets, plus you can take a drink from a bottle without removing you bucket, I guess you could have a fag if you were that way inclined. By FAG I do actually mean a cigarette, I'm no vacuum cleaner salesman. :lol

Cost for my bike's setup:

Modded R6 shock £200
Fork Oil                 £20 (max)
Fork Springs         £80 (well actually, mine were from a VFR800 and about £10 off ebay)
Debrix Emulators  £60

That's a fair bit short of £600 even by my pitiful maths abilities and the emulators are optional

Hey Kabab,
Enlighten this simple country boy, WTF are Emulators? and what function do they have and do they help?
The Nitron shock is expensive a tad less than 415 quid, I am hoping that a fork clean out and recharge with 15 weight oil will improve the situation up front and maybe the next stage for the forks will be pre-load shims/washers added to top of springs then next try raising the fork tubes up through the yokes by 15mm.
I'm hoping to be done by 450 maybe 500 quid if I change the springs for linears matched to my elf like gazell weight.

quote
when... It's just a fazer? Kebab! Kebab! (Oh another thing Kebab you should never spell Fazer with a lower case 'f' its rude.

What the foc are you saying man? 'JUST A FAZER' how do you sleep at night?

You do realise this is The Fazer Owners Forum don't you?

Admin bounce his arse out of here LOL!

My ole 2003 FZS600 is worth spending 600 quid on (Hoping to sort it for £500)
It is in great condition 38K on the clock, pulls like a train, have to admit it does handle mediocre, not badly, but not in a inspiring way, but I love the retro look of her and she is comfortable.
My thinking on it is this, If I throw it up the road cos the back is bouncing about like Jordan's breasts, I am going to knock some bark off me at the very least, and, the bikes value will be much lower if anything at all (Depends how hard I throw it I guess) so £500 to Poss £600 is a good investment and I should get more mileage out of my tyres cos I have 3/4" of rear tyre each side not brought into play as yet.

There you are, you know it makes sense.
:lol

A thousand apologies Kebab (grovel grovel) :kiss :kiss :wall :uhuh
It was Html who was was coming out with blasphemy. Only a fazer (notice his use of the far inferior lower case 'f')
Html likens the Fazer to his Kwacker ZX6R, completely different beasts designed for completely different tasks. London to Edinbourgh on that Kwacker would be a killer for my old bones but on the Fazer manageable.

But I do have to admit as to taking a liking to the Ninja.

Is the fazer worth doing about £600 senpension mods, all these other mods when... It's just a fazer?
I might offend a few people saying that but i have just bought a cheap one to run around, and as fun as it is - It's no match against my ZX6R or newer up right bikes

I think £600 is a lot against a 1-2k bike.
I actually find nothing wrong with the suspension although only 18k on the clock and I have been the owner for 15 years, I only weigh between 9.5 and 10 stone so perhaps the suspension doesn't get abused much.

Foccing heck!
Fazersharp you really are a racing snake, I will get the Red Cross to pop around your pad with a Food Parcel.
I thought I was a racing snake at 12.5 stones.

MOT time today.Passed ok,but was told as I have a dual seat but no rear footrests due to the high level link pipe I had made, they should have issued an advisory.Apparently if you have a dual seat or a strap across the middle of the saddle you must have rear footpegs.Learn something new every day.

Do you have to have two rear pegs if your Mrs has only got one leg?  :'(
Reminds me of a Peter Cook and Dudley Moore sketch  :lol

A one legged man applied to play the part of Tarzan in a film and Peter Cook said to him you seem to have a deficit for playing the part of Tarzan, namely one leg, your left leg is very nice and I have nothing against it, the trouble is neither do you.

I loved them two guys they were so funny.

Anyway my Mrs has not got one leg, poor bitch.
lol!

I have has a few problems starting the FZS, properly more down to me than the bike. I have been told the advancer might help, and it would hopefully help the midrange. I find when I want to over  take a car I have to go down a lot of gears, and than it still feels a bit flat.I am used to torkey twins and a GSXR 750, so may be asking to much of the Fzs.
I am hopeing to get the bike Ivanised in the spring, so do Ivansing and advancer go together, or should I just wait till the spring?

Holy shit! :eek
Ricky I read with suprise that you have to drop a load of gogs to overtake on a Gen 1 1K Fazer. I personally have never ridden one, but, I have the baby version the 'FZS600' Fox Eye, and, if I need to overtake and I am in top gear (6th) at about 60 mph, I drop 2 gears, gun it and it goes like shit off a shovel, or if you prefer a more genteel term, like a rabbit on steroids. The acceleration is vivid to say the least and one needs to keep ones wits about them as it screams up passed 13K RPM into the red very easily with front wheel tapping the tarmac as it wants to lift, select the next cog and you get a punch in the small of you back as the speed continues to rapidly climb. I would suggest you do a full service on all the things recommended in this post, that Gen 1 should almost rip your arms out of your shoulders if you gun it hard. That machine has the Modified R1 lump in it, a race bred engine softened very slightly for the road, giving it more mid range grunt at the sacrifice of a small amount of top end.
I really believe the Gen 1 is the way I will go as it has soo much to offer in power, comfort and reliability provided you keep up with the maintenance. Good luck and i hope you get it sorted and I think when you do the old GSXR 750 will not be top machine.
